I have purchased this cover on 3 separate occaisions - they do not last as advertised. The first two times, I decided that it could have been becuase of my storage on the covers that they failed after one season. The last cover, I stored it well and got 2 seasons out of it. The problem is sunlight. The material weakens due to exposure. It becomes brittle and breaks down becoming almost paper thin causing rips and sediment in the pool. I live in the northeast where winter sun is not all that damaging. I have considered that purchasing a new cover is just an annual expense with owning a pool. I may even buy another one of these this year - the cover is very good for 1 season only. I just think the 12 year life span the manufacturer claims is false advertising. ... show more

I've ordered these covers several times before. Up front, know this; the only way these covers will last twelve years is if they are left sealed up in their boxes for twelve years. You'll get one winter out of one of these. Period. I know this going in though, and unless you plan on spending serious money on a cover, this is what you're going to get. ...ONE winter. Why this review after several orders? The one I got this year had issues. For one, the tiedown cable was about five feet too short. I had to MacGyver the thing with a piece of parachute cord. OK; so I did that and then started tightening the thing up. Right about at the point where I was going to stop, the tightener BROKE. The spindle came right out of the frame of the thing. I get it; these things are cheap, Chinese garbage, meant for one use. I do expect to get that one use out of it though! This would have been a show stopper if not for finding the tightener from last year's cover lying in the stones by the pool. There's really no way of tightening the cable properly without that tightener unless you have MacGyver skills. I ordered this cover ahead of the season to be sure I'd have it when needed, so it was beyond the return window. That, and good luck getting that cover back into the box it came in! Not sure what to tell you here. There's no way to tell whether or not the cable is long enough until you go to use it. There's no way to tell if the tightener is going to break until you go to use it either. I guess all I can say is "Buyer beware." I guess I can also say that we could do better at making these in the USA... ... show more

Grommets starting popping out before I could even thread the tie line through and I had to repair the turnbuckle because the rivet in the ratchet mechanism was not pressed right. The material is much thinner than my old one. I will not buy again.
