Bought this. It came nicely packed. It assembled without a problem but you do need tools. Very pleasantly surprised. I've owned 2 different electric/ charcoal grills prior. I loved them. So far this grill has not disappointed. Hot dogs, steak, and smash burgers on the griddle so far have been excellent. No flare ups. Can use electric to ignite charcoal or specialty wood for charcoal grilling. Apartment sized/recommended. Very stable. Little built in table around grill is large enough to hold a small dinner plate and tongs/spatula. I washed griddle and grates (grates have a coating that I hope lasts a long time), they cleaned up relatively easily with soap and water, good to go next time. Nice little metal rails to store griddle. Cord storage too. Much easier to control temperature and prevent burning before items are done. Heats up easily and quickly without adding anything special but has the option to add charcoal or wood chips for flavor or smokiness. I hope this one lasts as long as the previous ones I've had. Excellent Char Broil Electric BBQ. Assembly took less than 2 hours. Works great! Much better than the Patio Bistro it replaced. Nice digital temperature gauge. Love this grill already! I love the 3 different ways to use it! And I love that I’m able to have charcoal mode in an apartment safe way! It gets very hot quickly, which I love. And the griddle was very easy to clean. The only complaint I have is some of the screws on the last step of instructions didn’t fit the holes. It still very sturdy, other than that. First of all, the performance of this grill on the electric setting is excellent; I haven't used the charcoal option yet. The grill is made of the very highest quality of material and finish. The assembly instructions are all pictures, and are correct. That being said, assembly is not a trivial task, so allow a couple of hours in a well-lit room. The shipping, via UPS 2nd Day Air resulted in the box being badly torn and one of the tubes bent, which I was fortunately able to straighten. Update: charcoal modes works equally well. ... show more

This is an amazing little grill. It's just my wife and myself, and we don't need a huge grill. We had been using the little Weber, but getting the charcoal ready was a bit of a pain, worth it, but not easy. The first thing I noticed about the Bistro Pro was the quality! This is not a high cost grill, but it's really well made. Welds are solid, legs are sturdy and the design is really innovative. I wasn't sure how the charcoal/electric was going to work, but its really easy. I put some coals on the grate, turned the electric burner on, got the charcoal going and then turned the power off and used just the charcoal. Very nice! ... show more

This is a tough review to write. I love this grill for grilling, it did a wonderful job with steak and pork chops, but it also just did this thing were it shut off on its own while slow cooking a brisket on the heat setting just below #2. I'm going to try it again and see if it gives me the same problem again. Update 6/13/26 - So I tried again with a 2nd brisket and it shut off again into the slow cook. I called Charbroil at the Amazon number and they were great. They didn't know what was causing it, but they thought it might be the controller. They sent a new one out and I replaced it last week. Then I tried a 3rd brisket and...same issue. Some time between the 4th and 8th hour the heating element and the thermometer shut off. So I just called Charbroil again and this time they said that this grill is not for long cooks, and cooking something for a long time on the grill would void the warranty. This seems like the sort of thing that they should let folks know up front so I asked them where this was written. They ran this up to leadership and the answer was that it wasn't written anywhere, they couldn't write everything that would void the warranty down, but it would void the warranty. Now, don't get me wrong, I love this thing for grilling hamburgers, chicken, all sorts of things. It does way better than I thought an electric grill could do, but it seems to me like a reasonable expectation to think that a grill could be used to cook something at low heat for a long period of time. Am I wrong for thinking that this is a terrible response from Charbroil? Knocking this down to 1 star until someone can share why this is a reasonable answer. ... show more

It is hard to get enough heat out of electric outdoor grills especially if it is nippy out. This one does a much better job than the last one I tried. It quickly reaches 600 degrees and does a good job. Will it do as well as a gas grill? Not quite. So far this grill is awesome. I have only tried electric, not the charcoal part so if that changes with that function, I will update my review. It looks nice! The griddle that is included holds a lot of food. The temperature seems very even and I like the temperature display. I had trouble with assembly and plan to get in touch with the company to address a couple of the issues. That’s the reason three stars instead of five. Those issues included only four of the numerous parts had numbers. So matching up the parts to the instructions was a real bear. And the parts were printed on one sheet of instructions and not in numerical order. So it was like a giant puzzle. Some of the pages were stapled together in a way that made it difficult to work through them. It took me three hours to assemble this. I would say twice as long as it should have if the parts had been properly labeled. The griddle holder that goes underneath the first rack, the little screw just snapped right off with hardly any pressure on it so now I have no griddle holder. Others have mentioned that the holes in the shelf that attach on the sides are not properly aligned. I was only able to get one screw in each shelf and I now have two empty spots where I don’t have the security of a screw because the screws are not aligned and I don’t really have a way to drill them. So the shelves wobble. Overall, it’s a nice grill and I hope he manufacture can help resolve some of the issues we ran into.
