  • Fantastic carpet cleaner, pets or no pets!
Color: 1548
We have two big dogs and two cats in our home, so dirt, hair, and pet accidents are things we frequently deal with. Most other cleaners I have used seem to deposit too much water onto the carpet which leaves the carpet looking dingy in mere days. I used this the night it arrived and was thrilled to see how well it worked. For one, the components are easy to use. The clean water tank and dirty water tank are separate, which means you can completely empty both and rinse them afterwards. No weird bladder inside the dirty tank for the clean water like you get with other models. And you can actually see when each tank is full/empty! I love that you just add the cleaning solution directly into the clean water tank so you don't have to deal with that messy solution container that seems to leak and adds too much solution (in my opinion). This method allows you to have more control of the amount of solution you want to use and is a much better (and more economical) use of the solution in general. Second, the machine looks and feels like a vacuum cleaner, which is more maneuverable than other bulky, awkward machines. It easily got pretty close to the edges of the baseboards, too. Third, it sucks up a great majority of the water it applies, which means you don't have that soggy carpet feeling. I find I still go over each section a few times, so that helps, but this machine does a superior job of sucking up as much water as possible. My carpets were dry in mere hours. Fourth, and most important to anyone with pets, this machine handled the pet hair that accumulated in the carpet amazingly. I vacuumed well before cleaning the carpet but the machine still pulled up some hair. Some ended up in the dirty tank but anything that got clogged in the brush head area was easily removed with a handy clump remover that comes with the machine. I will probably still have to go over the carpet a few times to really get all the dirt out that was never cleaned up by other machines I have used, but to me that is a reasonable expectation. The only bad thing is that you can really see how dirty your carpets were in the dirty water tank, but at the same time is strangely gratifying. I give this machine a big thumbs up and is worth the investment. It's a little more expensive than other cleaners but you won't be sorry! Even if you don't have pets, this would be a great model for any home. ... show more

  • Finally, a good one that does the job.
Color: 1548
I've owned many steamers over the years and been let down by most of them. They either don't last long or clean all that well without a lot of work. There are not "that" many brands of steamers at most retails stores, and I'd been through nearly all of them in the past, including Bissell. I needed a good steamer and decided to let online reviews help me judge whether or not I should consider looking at anothe Bissell. This model was well reviewed on nearly every site I went to, and, the newer model was basically the same as this one. Putting both of these factors in, to me, it seemed Bissell must have done something right since the last time I used one. So, I took the plunge and ordered it. Amazon shipped it quickly and everything was in good condition (no beat up box). Only one screw needed to be installed for the handle. And, they included samples of the two main cleaners. One was a peroxide based deep cleaner and the other was a concentrated carpet cleaner. Loading the tank was easy in the kitchen sink. Get the water hot, fill the tank to the water line, then use the desired cleaner. The tank snaps easily into place (something that was an issue with many steamers I used in the past, which makes it a hassle when steaming larger areas). The two rotating brushes are great at working loose the dirt/stains. And, with two of them (all my prior ones had just one brush), it took a lot less work to get the carpet clean. This had the added benefit of not needing as much cleaner for each spot. About the only down side is the return (dirty) water tank is ready to be emptied all before it's as full as you might think it to be (since it is a sizable tank). However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing as there is less chance of a spill, and, any gunk in the tank is easier to get out since it is not sitting there too long. Pull the tank, flip the cap, pour it empty, put the cap back on, snap the tank back i and keep going. I only had two spots I was not able to get out through the entire house. I'm still trying to figure out what my son got on the floor of his room to cause those two spots. So overall, yes, the steamer did a great job, and, it took less time to do a two story home than an apartment I used to live in (thanks to those two brushes and good steamer suction). I used the hand attachment for the stairs and it even did a better job than the one on my previous Bissell (thank goodness). If I could make one improvement, it might be to have a longer hose for the hand attachment so I could get the stairs done without having to move the entire unit every couple of steps. And, the cleaner tool they provide to pull out the fuzz and hair that gets into the suction area (and brushes) is amazing! You do want to be sure to use this after steaming, and rinse out the tanks, as it helps keep any odor causing stuff out of the steamer (which can get nasty if left in there). I'd recommend this steamer over any of the others I have used in the past, including Bissell ones. ... show more

  • Best of Three
Color: 1548
This is the third and best Bissell carpet cleaner I have bought. The other two were a pro heat self propelled and a similar single brush model. Neither cleaned as well as this one. However, like the others, this fails to vacuum up more than a third of the applied solution, no matter how long one vacuums - the main reason I will not rate it higher. I figure if it only extracts a third of the liquid, it only gets a third of the dirt on any given cleaning. An advantage of this model is having separate tanks for clean and dirty water. It is easy to see the levels and to easily confirm that a second, third or fourth cleaning still removes dirt left by previous attempts, as well as the percentage of fluid extracted. The combined tank of the older pro heat model made those observations difficult because dirty and clean water had to be dumped out together, discouraging such a test. I think of that model as being designed to be deceptive. This one is not. This model is excellent at quickly spraying enough fluid to attempt cleaning - easily the fastest of the three. The dual brushes must certainly do a better job of dislodging dirt than a single brush as well. The carpet does look clean, even if there is dirt left deeper down. I also like the removable front pickup. It will tend to clog with fibers and have to be cleaned - about every gallon of fluid applied, in my experience. Being able to snap it off and rinse it in the sink is far easier than having to remove screws and partially disassemble the older pro heat model. The cleaning tool supplied does help, but it still takes more time than I would have hoped for to unclog it. I also like that the hose is completely detachable - unlike the older pro heat model - whose hose was constantly falling off, unless tied on. I attempted to clean four carpeted stairway steps with the hose and larger brush attachment and was completly dissatisfied with its vacuuming ability. The larger brush is so poorly designed with multiple air leaks that there is negligible vacuum and only a trivial amount of solution pickup. Fortunately the smaller brush does not suffer from the same problem and does a good job of vacuuming up the liquid. I plan to never use the larger brush again because even taping over all the seams, including the absurd vacuum "release" button, does little to make this thoroughly incompetent attachment useful. A minor complaint is that the "in service" cord holder is unable to secure the cord unless one adds about seven large rubber bands around it so it provides some friction to prevent the unused cord from simply falling off. Doesn't Bissel even test their design? In use I can clean about 60 square feet of carpet with the filled gallon supply container. As clumps of fibers are spit out, usually on the first pass, I just pick them up to prevent them from possibly clogging the pickup. By the time the fluid is gone the repeated back and forth of trying to get the water out will also have taken its toll on my back and it is time to set up a box fan to finish drying the carpet. Do the rest another day. I would buy this model again, despite its problems, because other models have been and probably still are worse. It certainly does remove dirt from carpets every time I use it. ... show more

  • Replaced Hoover that wore out and very satisfied with this replacement Bissell
Color: 1548
I have had a similar Hoover product for many years. It finally gave up the ghost (appropriate for close to Halloween) and decided on this one instead as replacement. Am glad that I did as it is much easier to use and to clean. First a couple of comments. They do not tell you there is a cardboard piece in the handle you have to remove before inserting. Minor but annoying until you figure it out. Then I decided to be sure I knew how to remove the float mechanism from the dirty water tank before use and glad I did. It was stuck probably from sitting in a hot warehouse during the summer. But I called customer service which was great to use and they had me use flat head screwdriver and gently loosen the stuck mechanism. Even so on first use had to use finger nail to raise up again. Also not mentioned is that you have to raise the orange plastic float on the mechanism to get the float unit out of the tank. Assembly was very easy and filling the clean water tank very easy. Likewise emptying the dirty water tank. Recommend that you do this outside or in a large drain to avoid possibly clogging of lines with lint. I always do it outside but occasionally have used toilet to empty. Cleaning the head is a little tricky using the enclosed tool. Found there are a couple of spots on the side with a plastic piece that holds up lint but once you use it first time likely to find easy. The Hoover I had did have two settings, high and low carpet, that Bissell does not but then the Bissell has a deep clean vs express clean feature that is very very useful! Express clean dries fast and uses far less fluid. Must say I have been impressed with Bissell website (fill out the profile and got free shipping I used to buy bare floor tool also with a 10% discount - cheaper than anywhere else I found this and fast delivery too). Also can use to order cleaning fluids. They have a very extensive array of various fluids to choose from. As for cleaning it did an excellent job. It was easy to use and best of all simple to clean, something that was extremely difficult with my Hoover product. The manual and instructions that come with the unit is excellent (for those of us that read instructions) and found it helpful. Just the right balance between too little and too much instruction. So far I am extremely satisfied with the unit. I have ordered but not yet tried the bare floor tool. If I find any issues with it I will come back and edit this review. Same should I run into any issues after using for extended period. ... show more

  • bottom line is for the intents and purpose of a wet vac I don't recommend this at all bottom line is for the intents and purpose of a wet vac I don't recommend this at all
Color: 1548
oh boy where to begin with this technical wonder. bottom line is for the intents and purpose of a wet vac I don't recommend this at all. as a regular dry vac there are far better options so in that regards I cannot recommend this product either. why the horrible review? well I finally got a chance to test this bad boy after the holidays and folks just skip Bissell and go straight to a rug doctor. I purchased this wet vac in hopes of not needing to lug a rug doctor from the local super market everytime I want to clean the apartment. the idea behind this sounds great and the construction looks good too. pour in some water, use the wet gun, and get your carpet/rug deep cleaned seemed like a simple order. unfortunately this machine is over engineered and doesn't do as advertise. I won't get into the marketing pro heat thing; the machine doesn't heat the water at all and you have to pour hot water into the reservoir for that effect; same as the rug doctor. the problem isn't that it doesn't lift up the gunk, in fact it does so quite well. but this poor thing is so underpowered and the vacuum passages are so narrow and small any gunk it lifts up gets stuck. there is a reason why they give you a long plastic clean out tool. you'll spend more time cleaning out this machine than you will cleaning your carpet. the dirty water reservoir is also a pain to clean out. there is a "quick" clean opening and a "final" clean opening where you unscrew the bottom and pour out the dirty content. the engineer decided to have this overly complicated plastic channel where dirty water travels through be inserted at this particular spot and seal it with an large diameter o ring. so anything "dirty" that remains can cause the o ring to not seat properly and you won't be able to screw it tightly to re-seal. also the rotating bristle area just traps any gunk that was lifted and leaves a nice pile for you to clean up as well. btw once the machine gets overwhelmed because of the clogged channels and or bristles it'll just cough up the gunk onto your clean carpet during operation. so I ended up picking up after it like a dog while using it. I thought this vacuum was supposed to do the picking up? if you have ever operated a rug doctor you'll understand the frustration. that machine is simple to operate, and simple to maintain. cleaning should not be this complicated and the machine should not take more maintenance and work than cleaning the carpet itself. ... show more

  • Most Amazing Carpet Cleaner ever!
Color: 1548
I’m super impressed! I have been using the Bissell Spotclean Pro for the last couple of years. It works extremely well especially for such a small portable unit. But I can no longer get down on my hands and knees. We have a kitty with some medical issues. Plus we had a flood last winter from all the ice and snow. It took 6 months for it all the repair. Then we had a professional clean the carpets. I thought our carpets were clean. After using this Proheat 2X Revolution Pet Carpet Cleaner on an area soiled by our kitty, I was Astouned at how DIRTY our carpet still was!! Other reviews had stated they had found the same situation. At this point we couldn’t be MORE pleased. There’s more...without a doubt it is the easiest shampooed to clean! That’s another reason we purchased this. Now I plan on slowly cleaning ALL the carpets and area rugs this year. There is only one con. It is hard to push and pull for me when full of water. Empty it is super light! I am older and not well, but I managed just going slow. If I can handle it, anyone can! The only suggestion I would make is to have a power handle, but the cost would probably be too much. This product so far is worth every bit of the cost. Also the 2x cleaning liquid is not “soap” and rinses easily. And the smell is pleasant and not lingering. I have multiple chemical allergies and this product did not affect me at all! SO MANY PLUSES! I do a lot of research before purchasing any significant purchase. I will give an update after I have used it more. ... show more

  • Glad I Picked THIS One !
Color: 1548
Wow, whatta machine! Only a few pieces to assmble. Use care on single screw for carry handle to avoid stripping threads. Sturdy solid construction. Used liquid provided and got a clean carpet equal to the results from the steam cleaner company we've used for 8yrs. We have 5 small dogs that don't always wait to do business outside, so periodic cleaning is a requiremnt. I applied Bissell Pet Stain Pretreat on darkened areas, brushed in, let soak for 30min. Followed machine cleaning instruct's, plus made extra vacuuming passes without liquid, to extract as much water as possible. After cleaning, I used only warm water in tank to rinse and extract for max clean. It's nice to have the choice to wash and rinse as desired, somthing we don't get with a steam cleaner company. The light biege carpet looks new again. No dark stained areas. And it was dry in about 5 hrs, instead of the 8hr needed with the steam clean compny. Yes had little hair clumps appear on carpet while cleaning. Just picked them up and kept cleaning. Nice to see that junk getting removed. Emptied dirty water tank in toilet, it was almost like dark brown soup. Spent about 30min cleaning the machine so it won't get clogged or gummed up with reside. Process is simple, and cleaning tool provided is genius, works great. Made sure to remove hair near roller ends to prevent belts from snapping from excess friction. There's no heating elements for the water tank, but the motor exhaust is directed to the bottom of tank to help keep the water warm. No worries about hot elements or connections. I used a tank of hot tap water solution in about 10min before refilling, so theres not much time for the solution to cool down. I haven't tried the hose and upholstery tools yet. Overall a beautifully designed machine and process. The Bissell website has short videos on assembly, belt changing, cleanup of the machine, and many others that are clear and helpful. Amazon Prime shipped via USPS and it arrived Calif in 2 days in perfect condition, not all beat up like UPS tends to do. Can't speak to reliability yet. Only received Nov 2nd. But so far no hints of problems like those reported on some of the Hoover machines. ... show more

  • Great machine..
Color: 1548
I purchased this machine to replace an older Bissell Lift-off; I was happy with its results but the hose split near the hand tool. Before that i had another brands shampooer (hov....r) that got top ratings which i must say disappointed me greatly. First things first.. I was surprised after it was put together how small it was. The total size is just slightly bigger then my Dyson Ball. Don't get me wrong the size is not an issue, i actually found it a plus when it comes to storage. Cleaning -- This little guy does a great job cleaning; better than the previous Bissell i had. The tanks are easy enough to fill and empty as well as a good size, also a nice change from my other model. I've been using it on the deep clean function, IE dump solution like a mad man, and the carpets are about as wet as my old machine; they will dry in about 1-2 hours. The special solution fill cap on the water tank is a nice touch as it keeps you from spilling solution but currently only the antibacterial cleaner is made to use the port. I found it easy enough to maneuver and it should be lightweight enough for anyone to use; I would say the same weight as a standard vacuum. This was also another nice change from all my older rug shampooers. I'm sure many of you have had the fun of fighting with your shampooer just to get it lined up just right to get next to the wall, no more with this one. Cleanup -- This has to be the part I love most about this machine. My old one started to develop an odor over the years partial because i couldn't really break the machine down to clean it. Needless to say this one is a nice change. The machine easily breaks down allowing you to toughly clean the tanks and even the floor head. Hopefully this will stop that shampoo order issue i seemed to always have. ... show more
