  • Great carpet cleaner, worth every penny
Style: HairPro w/StainStriker
I received this carpet cleaner yesterday, and after I vacuumed our floors with our Shark upright vacuum, I immediately used the carpet cleaner. I have to say, this carpet cleaner is amazing! After switching from the Bissell ProHeat to this model, the difference is striking. Even after vacuuming, there are always small animal hairs left in the carpet, but this carpet cleaner manages to get them all up, while the Bissell often left clumps behind. The Shark effectively sucks them up and traps the hair in the hair catch! I love that there is no trigger; it only dispenses the cleaning solution when you're pushing it forward. The only downside is the small solution tank; it barely lasts for a small room. However, aside from that, it works great, is easy to assemble, and is already worth the money! The dry-only mode also significantly reduces the drying time of the carpet by at least half, if not more—no more needing a fan to speed up the process! ... show more

  • Color me impressed. (dramatically better than mediocre steam cleaners of yesteryear!)
Style: CarpetXpert with StainStriker
Color me impressed. My business switched office space and the existing berber carpet needed a good cleaning. Keep in mind that this wasn't a home with children or pets -- just an office with a low volume of visitors and residual dirt tracked in from the gravel lot after people made it past 2 welcome mats. My past experience with consumer "steam cleaners" wasn't great - they spit out a lot of water, did a half-hearted job at cleaning and really couldn't compare at all with a professional steam clean. But 2 things convinced me to buy this -- 1) I've had great experience with a Shark handheld that has done the best of any vacuum I've owned over the years and 2) the cost of this unit was equal to a single pro carpet cleaning session. Figured worse case we'd have a carpet cleaner on hand and we had some upholstery that needed to be tackled anyway (past experience with hiring pros to steam clean upholstered furniture felt like we paid a premium for 5 min effort per chair and they looked about the same before / after) Wow. This "carpet xpert" does a great job, easily rivaling a professional steam clean, at least in the application we used. Cleaner arrived almost fully assembled. Took a brief moment to snap on handle and push in hose. Pre- vacuumed as instructed before firing it up. (cleaner is not designed to pick up hair, crumbs, paper shards, etc. so you'll need to make sure they're appropriately vacuumed up with a clear surface to start). Operation was pretty intuitive (I did glance at instructions) with the exception of the hand held unit (the "stain striker" hand held piece has 2 buttons - not at all clear which was for spraying and which for drying. But the main unit has a very simple push forward to spray, pull back to extract/dry. The "deep clean" choice on the machine is a bit gimmicky since there is no "standard clean" option, just "deep clean" but okay, I won't dock for that. The unit does hesitate to power off - my machine takes a full second or two after the power off button is depressed before it actually turns off. So much of a delay that I actually tried at first to depress the power button more than once with the effect that I kept turning it back on before it turned off. For now I'm assuming that's not a genuine issue but I'll repost if it becomes a problem. Haven't used it on upholstery yet, but did a great job tackling the berber carpet. The water came out... disgusting. Which is exactly what one wants from a carpet cleaning machine. Oh, unit warned about water temp not exceeding 140. I didn't much follow warnings about water temperature because I'm not really sure what 140 degree water feels like exactly or how much below this maximum is intended. I know boiling is ... well 212 degrees F and 100 F is bath water. And most water heaters max at 140. But the warnings intent or preferred operational temp wasn't clear. Should the water used be... as hot as can come out of the tap? mildly warmer than bathwater? much warmer than bathwater just not hot enough to burn you? And what exactly happens above the 140 degree cut off? Does the unit melt? or is it just a warning so that people don't burn themselves? I decided to go a notch below the max temp out of the faucet to get nice hot water, hot enough to work the dirt loose but not so hot that I'd get burnt if it spilled on me and that seemed to work. ... show more

  • Good shampooer
Style: CarpetXpert
Very little installation out of the box. Works great and has gotten a lot of dirt out of my carpets. Sleek appearance and not too bulky. Only issue is the size of the dirty water tank as it has to be emptied frequently, but it does not affect the performance outside of being inconvenient.

  • Great clean, Tiny tank
Style: HairPro w/StainStriker
This carpet cleaner does the best job cleaning the carpet of any home carpet I have ever had. I have owned both Bissle and Hoover cleaners previously. I loved the stain striker feature and it did get some pet spots out of my carpet that I did not think would come out. The units suction is beyond compare. Also the dry only feature is great and my carpets did dry more quickly than they normally would. I have two long haired dogs and despite vacuuming before using the cleaner previously there would be clumps of wet dog fur left on the carpet for me to pick up as I cleaned. This cleaner does not do that and the wet fur is caught in the filter in the dirty water tank which is very nice. For me there are a couple of issues with the machine. First, the cleaner is placed directly into the water tank so it is dispersed onto the carpet but that means that you put cleaner onto the carpet and the soap residue stays in there and, as we all know, soap attracts dirt leading to have to clean the carpet more frequently. I ended up dividing my rooms into sections. First I cleaned with the soap in the water, then I rinsed the carpet using a tank of water only, and then I dried the carpet unsung the dry only cycle. The second issue with the Shark cleaner is that the tanks for both the clean and dirty water are TINY. I cleaner the carpets in the office, the master bedroom which is a good size, and our walk in closet. Our off ice is a normal dized room. With our previous cleaners I would have to fill the water tank once and dump the dirty water once also. While using the cleaner in the tank I had to fill and dump 5 times. I ever had to fill and dump in my closet. I lost track in the master bedroom. Sometimes if felt that all I was doing was filling and dumping the tanks. I know it would make the machine heavier to have bigger tanks but I’d rather have a heavier machine that let me clean for a longer time. I felt as if I was constantly starting and stopping. Even with the tank size issues I’m happy with my Shark carpet cleaner. It does a fantastic job of cleaning the carpets. ... show more

  • Great features, easy to use and cleans great!
Style: HairPro w/StainStriker
This carpet cleaner is amazing. So many wonderful features, so easy to use and clean. It works GREAT!!! I love the onboard upholstery/ spot house and the attachments. The wet pet nozzle keeps nasty stuff from going through the entire cleaner, it goes into it's own special cup. The clean and go feature is amazing! It cleans the hose automatically. All of the attachments come apart so easy to clean, no more trying to wedge a hair tool up into the nozzel to clean the main unit. You can use dry only if you want to suck up when more water. I could go on and on but this Shark is fantastic just like all the other Shark products I have. It's the only brand I will buy. ... show more
