  • Excellent Machine.
Style: ProHeat Revolution Pet Pro Plus
We are very impressed with this machine. Easy assembly, easy to use, and very easy to clean the machine after use. I cleaned four area rugs and one wall to wall rug in a short amount of time. All the rugs came out looking brand new. The wall to wall rug and one of the area rugs are smart fiber rugs so I expected them to clean easily. The area smart fiber rug had some extremely heavy stains on it and the dog had urinated on all the corners. It looked so bad we were going to throw it out. We tried the machine on it and the stains are gone. The rug looks brand new. I used the regular formula and not the pet formula, which I suspect would have done an even better job. Two of the area rugs are circular and inexpensive rugs. The machine did not tear them up, which was a concern. The fourth area rug is a large, gorgeous, 40 year old, non-trafficked, very expensive wool rug. It has always looked great. It is regularly vacuumed, but has not been wet cleaned for at least 13 years. We can't believe how it looks now. It came out significantly brighter and looking brand new. Extremely impressed. Suction on the machine is excellent. At one point I started to lose suction and couldn't understand why, but then I noticed the dirty water was up to the float. The machine stops pulling in water when it reaches the float. The dirty water was so black we couldn't believe it. The suction on the machine is so good that the carpets were almost dry right after cleaning. Make sure to double vacuum your rug before cleaning. I feel that makes a big difference in the machine's performance. It's not a vacuum. I used two different Shark vacuums on each rug before cleaning and they pulled out a lot of fine dirt. Initially, when using the machine for the first time, I did a 'quick clean' on one of the area rugs to get used to it. After doing that I would recommend just going for the deep clean right away. I think the quick clean function is for refreshing the rug at a later date after it's been deep cleaned. My wife says it would have cost us at least $500 to have someone clean the amount of rugs that I cleaned so the machine has already more than paid for itself. Great value for the money. She is very happy with the results as am I. ... show more

  • Worth the price!!
Style: ProHeat Revolution Pet Pro Plus
I have a carpet machine, but it clogs and doesn’t suck the water well, so I was thinking about renting a machine. However, it starts at $40 for one day. Given that I have cats and medium size dogs, I knew I would need more than a day and would need to do this every few months. I admit I had been slacking due to my old machine. I Googled carpet cleaners for pet and human hair that doesn’t clog the brush. Most of my results were for vacuums. (Dyson makes a great one and it is worth every penny!) This machine came up twice. The description says it even removes skunk orders. Terrific! My babies aren’t fully trained and have accidents. I came to Amazon and read reviews, both good and bad. The bad reviews seem to be mainly manufacturer defects. I know I can always return it with Amazon if it doesn’t work. Most of the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. I took a 1 a.m. gamble and it arrived at 2 p.m. Assembly was very easy. One screw and snap the rest on. I spent about an hour cleaning my bedroom and hall. Yes, you do have to empty the dirty water a couple of times per tank and a half of clean water. Not an issue, it’s very simple. The suction is awesome. Go slowly and over each area a few times. It leaves the carpet damp, not wet. It picks up dirt you didn’t know you had and tackles the dirt you do know about. The samples they send are great smelling (didn’t trigger a migraine! Bonus!), but they are good for one tank. I suggest buying more. Mine will be in 5-10 tonight. It was a mid morning after thought. Bottom line is buy it. Don’t put it off. Don’t second guess yourself. It is worth the cost. Cannot recommend enough! ... show more

  • This one is a winner!
Style: ProHeat Revolution Pet Pro Plus
Oh my goodness! I have had other shampooers, but this one has been the best one ever! It seems quieter than other machines I’ve had in the past. It cleans my carpet, amazingly well and has great suction to pick up the water after shampooing. It has larger wheels on it to easily go over door jams, and such. It is light and easy to maneuver. The rotating bristles have removed stubborn stains and overall dirt amazingly well! The water container is easy to remove and add water and cleaner to well. The bin that holds the soiled water is also easy to remove and clean. The soil container has parts that you can pull out in really good clean, which is nice. I also love that you can press two buttons and remove the cover near the rotating bristles on the main part of the machine to really get the hair dirt out of that. It comes with a cleaning tool that also helps to remove any hair or items stuck wearing water cannot reach to rinse it. It has a feature that you can press with your foot that will directly spray the stain if you need that. I absolutely love this machine and would highly recommend it. I always wish they would provide longer chords so you can reach further areas without having to unplug it but overall it is an amazing machine, and I am hoping it will last me several years! ... show more

  • Extra rinsing required
Style: ProHeat Revolution Pet Pro Plus
I have old carpet that hasn't been cleaned in several years. I have a big dog and 2 cats. I was very impressed with the cleaning performance of the machine. The manual doesn't say this, but I also went over it again (2 passes) with plain water because the waste water was so soapy. My carpet looks visibly cleaner. After it dried, however, and I vacuumed it to fluff it up, it still felt "sticky". I went over it again (2 more passes) with plain water and was still extracting a good amount of suds, although the water looked much cleaner (not perfect-- so I don't know how many times it would take to be totally clear). I am drying it again with fans and hope that it feels better. Next time I will use half the amount of soap and still do a round of rinsing passes. It was very easy to use and I thought the auction was completely adequate. ... show more

  • Best carpet cleaner IMHO.
Style: ProHeat Revolution Pet Pro Plus
Better than the previous version which I liked until it got a few years old. Very easy to fill clean water/soap tank, it pops off and fits in the sink like it was designed for it. Much improved waste water tank, easy removal, a good size drain with plug on top and the interior tank parts are simple to remove through a good size screw capped opening on the bottom (this is a very important feature because if you don’t clean it it stinks). As for cleaning it has dual brushes and great suction. We have a light beige carpet and a dog, I have been thinking about replacing because of shoe stains at the base of our recliners that wouldn’t come out and a few traffic areas and dog treat eating spots, this machine removed the stains completely vs a 4 year old same price range Bissell that is gone with the trash man. Lastly it’s easier to operate. Trigger on handle to spray, brushes work great, and tremendous suction. I didn’t spend a lot of time on any area as I was still planning on new carpet thus new cleaner, and it looks new. I no longer plan to replace the carpet. Enjoy. ... show more

  • Easy and effective Easy and effective
Style: ProHeat Revolution Pet Pro Plus
Incredibly impressed with its performance! First, it was very easy to get it out of the box and assembled. Instructions were clear and it only took about 2-3 minutes from box open to ready to fill. Second, the box comes with two formulas with 2 tanks worth of formula in each. So right out the box, you’ve got four washes without having to go to the store. My son loved that they do not have a strong odor. Third, the tanks were very easy to fill and empty. As someone with an autoimmune disorder, I appreciate that the tanks are easy to move, hold, and install and they aren’t too heavy full. Fourth, this sucker is amazing. We have a rug on our back porch that lives there through all four seasons and the feral cats annoyingly love to hang out on it and occasionally pee on it. I’m including before and after photos because- wow! Such a difference. The carpet is visually cleaner but also super soft to walk on now. Fifth- very easy to empty and clean the machine when the job is done. Finally, I love the thoughtfulness that went into to this machine. The spot cleaning function, the upholstery hose and accessories, the easy-to-pull trigger, and the easy on and off fill cap. My one tiny gripe is that it’s heavy to push and pull on the carpet. It’s not bad, about 2x the effort it takes me to use my Dyson stick vacuum but people with mobility challenges, chronic fatigue or arthritis, you may need to take breaks or let someone else clean the carpet while you supervise and eat snacks. ... show more

  • 5-Star Review: Bissell ProHeat Pet Carpet Cleaner – A Dachshund Parent’s Lifesaver
Style: ProHeat Revolution Pet Pro Plus
As a proud (and slightly exhausted) dog mom to two mischievous dachshund puppies, I feel like I’ve tried everything under the sun to deal with their endless “accidents” on my carpet. Let me paint the picture: I brought home my two adorable little troublemakers thinking I was ready for anything. I had the potty pads, the stain sprays, the vinegar and baking soda, the enzymatic cleaners—you name it, I tried it. But somehow, every single time I thought we were making progress, I’d find a fresh puddle of pee soaking into the carpet fibers. I was getting desperate. Not only was the smell lingering (despite all my attempts), but I was also worried about the long-term damage to my carpet and subfloor. That's when I finally bit the bullet and purchased the Bissell ProHeat Pet Carpet Cleaner. And let me tell you—this machine is worth every single penny. Set-Up & First Impressions: Out of the box, the Bissell ProHeat was straightforward to assemble. The instructions were clear, and I had it up and running in no time. It felt solid and well-made, and I could already tell it was designed with pet owners in mind. It comes with a Pet Stain Tool, a tough stain tool, and a trial-size bottle of Bissell’s professional cleaning formula. Performance: The first time I used it, I targeted the worst area—my bedroom, which had essentially become their unofficial bathroom. I followed the instructions, filled the clean water tank, added the cleaning solution, and slowly began cleaning in sections. I was SHOCKED by the amount of dirt and urine this machine pulled out. You think your carpet is clean until you dump the dirty water tank and realize you’ve basically been living on a swamp of pee and regrets. I even got this done in 10 minutes. The ProHeat’s Heatwave Technology keeps the water warm throughout the cleaning process, and the suction is incredibly powerful. After just one pass, the odor in the room was significantly better. I did two full passes over the main areas, and not only did the smell disappear, but the carpet looked newer and fluffier. You could visibly see the difference in texture and color. Stain Removal: As for the older stains I had almost given up on? They’re gone. Completely. No halo effect, no faint yellow ring—just clean, fresh carpet. I also used the handheld tool on a few spots on the stairs and it worked beautifully. It got right into the corners and edges without any trouble. Dry Time: I was impressed with how quickly the carpet dried. I kept the windows open and ran a fan, and the area was fully dry within a few hours. Much faster than I expected, considering how saturated it had been during cleaning. Maintenance: Cleaning the machine afterward is easy. The tanks lift right out, and everything comes apart smoothly for rinsing. The brush roll cover even comes off so you can remove hair and debris (a big plus with shedding pups). Verdict: If you’re a pet owner—especially of stubborn puppies who think the world is their toilet—do yourself a favor and invest in the Bissell ProHeat Pet Carpet Cleaner. I honestly wish I had bought it sooner. It has saved my carpets, my sanity, and possibly even my relationship with my dogs. This isn’t just a spot cleaner—it’s a deep-cleaning powerhouse. It’s the kind of tool you don’t realize you need until you finally use it and wonder how you ever lived without it. Now, anytime there’s an accident, I know it’s no big deal—I can just pull out the Bissell and tackle it right away. ... show more

  • Works well - but it's all plastic
Style: ProHeat Revolution Pet Pro Plus
I had quite the job for it right out of the box. My (now adult) daughter turned her bedroom into a "girls cave" throughout her teen years. Consequently, the carpet was filthy with not just dirt, but spilled makeup, spray residue of various sorts, and other substances I'm sure fathers generally don't want to hear about. The carpet was matted in places - all ground in. We just got this vac in today (quick shipping BTW). And we immediately set about assembly and use. Assembly went pretty quick, although the carry handle is all plastic, and took a bit more force than I wanted to install. And who makes a carry handle out of such flimsy plastic anyway? The force it took to snap it into place is BECAUSE it is so flimsy, and so easily bends out of shape during installation. It may be sturdy once installed, but it sure looked and felt awfully flimsy before installation. Installation took more force than its flimsy nature should reasonably receive. But once it snaps into place and the screw (the only screw the entire assembly requires), it seems sturdy enough. Using a combination of hair shampoo (no conditioner) and liquid laundry detergent in warm water, this vac attacked that greasy, oily, dirty mess very aggressively. The results so far is quite impressive. Now that my daughter and I figured out how to use it and clean it - it's up to her to keep using it until that carpet is clean. I figure it will take a dozen passes at least. Which is why I bought this shampooer instead of renting one. I'm sure she will be sick of using it before she's done. BUT, best recommendation is to use a liquid soap that does not cause suds. Any wet/dry vac, including shampooers, will have trouble sucking up suds. I used shampoo specifically to cut the makeup grease - which seems about as heavy as axle grease. But once the grease is out of the carpet, we will switch to pure laundry detergent, or a combination laundry and liquid dishwasher detergent. After this vac seemed to have picked up all the liquid it will pick up, I noticed that I can tip it forward a bit and it will suck up a bunch more (SEE OBSERVATION #7 BELOW) - and wow is that stuff dirty. So once it looks like you're done, you can go over the carpet by tilting it forward a bit, then pushing it forward an inch, then tipping it forward again. Repeat until you've covered the whole wet area. You will probably get a lot more out of the carpet that way. And I think what comes up when you do that will be a good indicator of how clean your carpet is. You may wish to go over it all again once you see what comes up. Which brings me to another point - you can stop when the carpet surface looks clean, or keep working it till the carpet IS clean. Honestly, I don't see much use for three different cleaning settings. The maximum setting uses the most liquid, but that's how you get the best results unless you're cleaning something with zero depth. Which gives me an idea to see how well it works on a heavy traffic area of a linoleum floor. It's a lot of work repeatedly rinsing pine-sol off the floor with a mop and bucket. This machine might rinse it off a lot easier. We shall see. Also, even when you think you're done, it's probably a good idea (though you might hate the extra work) to go over the carpet once again using purely clean water - no soap at all. Possibly with a bit of febreeze or liquid fabric softener, or some mild aromatic you like. The idea is to get as much of the soap out of the carpet as you can - like a rinse cycle. Adding a nice scent is just an opportune bonus. Just don't overdo it. It would be so easy to overdo a scent. Cleanup is pretty simple, but not altogether easy. All parts are too big for the bathroom sink. And unless you have a fine strainer, I would not clean it in a sink. We dumped the dirty water down the toilet, then used the bathtub to clean the vac and it left a huge mess in the tub. Suffice it to say, cleanup from now on will be outside with a garden hose. Then bring it inside to detail it. A nice detail is the flat plastic thing-a-ma-bob that comes with the vac. It's to hook and pull clumps out of an otherwise impossible to clean part of the roller cover (hood). It's a nice touch, but probably should have some way to store it attached to the vac itself - as you will likely need to use it every time you clean the vac. It's also supposed to get the hair out of the rollers. It's totally useless for that. I had to use a sharp paring knife to cut the hair away from the rollers. Just like any other vac. Which brings me to the only problem I found with this vac. It's all plastic. While nothing you're doing should require much force, this might not take much force for something to break. The handle especially should be made of aluminum or better, as it is the thing that flexes the most, and should not flex at all, as I use it. This makes the handle the second most anticipated failure point. The most anticipated failure point? The hose and attachments all "click" into place using two pressure locks. They should all be made of stainless steel instead of plastic. Plastic pressure locks always break. Edit: after some hours of use, I noticed a few things that I should mention. 1. as per another reviewer's concern, when the handle is locked in the upright position, it also lifts the rollers by about a half an inch or so. So unless you have shag carpet, it's not likely to harm your carpet to remain running in one position for a great length of time. 2. to use this vac right (most such shampooers actually) you have to go intolerably slow. I mean mind bogglingly, soul crushingly, inhumanly slow. I found that any faster than about 3 inches per minute will leave a lot behind. And that brings me to the fact that you probably should go over everything at least twice. At least once with shampoo, and once more with clean, possibly fragranced water - or perhaps some baking soda to soak up any lingering odors. 3. No matter how thorough you are, there's going to be some dirt left behind. Others have confirmed this - you might never get everything out of your carpet. You will always have to decide when "good enough" is good enough. 4. The sprayer works when there's no power. So you can see how much water you need to use for whatever effect you want. You can choose to use the slider on the side, but it also depends on how fast you move across the carpet while spraying. It ONLY SPRAYS WHEN YOU USE THE TRIGGER. Not just by going forward. If you don't use enough spray, and it will spray stripes and a lot of carpet won't get wet at all. Use too much and the padding underneath will get soaked. And it will be hard to suck all that water up (see observation #2) 5. So far, I've used it on a terribly soiled carpet, an area rug, and a rubber backed indoor/outdoor door mat with a very short pile. I also used it to rinse off a linoleum floor. By far, the easiest to clean was the door mat. Although it can rinse off a linoleum floor, I went through a container of water really fast. So to rinse soapy water from an entire room might take a lot of trips to dump and refill. Going over my area rug a second time with pure clean water really did wonders for both its look and feel. 6. I don't know what kind of heating element this vac supposedly uses, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Why call it a "proheat" when there's no noticeable heating being done anywhere. Maybe my vac came broken. Others will have to verify this. I've taken to using hot tap water. 7. You can see the liquid you're picking up as it goes through the "hood" over the rollers, which is very nice. But that quarter inch chamber in the hood is all there is sucking up the liquid. This is why you need to go so slow - the vac really only picks up water a quarter inch at a time. It will suck in some from the surrounding area, but that quarter inch of direct suction is all there is. Don't get me wrong - it has excellent suction for that quarter inch by 11 inches. And if you want a half inch, you would need either twice the suction, or 8. The rollers are belt driven, and can be over taxed. Turns out, tipping the vac forward on heavy carpet can overtax the belt and you get an unpleasant haze in the air - that's the belt slowly vaporizing. It seems safe to do on carpet with very short pile, like my area rug or door mat, but not on regular carpeting. Maybe this should have been my first observation, not my last. Something I wish for is some way to detach the brush rollers for cleaning as well. As it stands, you leave the nasty dirty rollers in place and just brush out debris. I'd rather store it with clean rollers, but there's no easy way to wash them while they are attached to the vac. I'm having to lift the entire vac either into the tub, or outside to rinse off the rollers. Overall, I am satisfied with this vac. It's function is impressive. And while the construction definitely could be better, it would cost a lot more if it were. ... show more
