I love this machine. It makes my life so much easier and does everything I need it to do. That said, the self cleaning feature is just for cleaning the *inside*, non visible, parts. I learned a valuable, if disgusting, lesson today. DO NOT skip, or forget to clean all of the parts as instructed. It's not difficult, and should only take a few minutes to do. I got distracted after running the self cleaning function on it last week and it got left to sit. The results were disgusting, but a thorough cleaning of the unit as instructed, 4 times, followed by soaking the removable parts in bleach solution for a couple of minutes did the trick. Rewashed my floors, then cleaned it again, the way I should have, and all is shiny and disinfected. Make sure to repeat the self cleaning function until no more debris shows up in the dirty bin, then clean all of the individual removable parts and let them completely dry before reassembling. It sounds like it's more effort than it is. It's easy and it's so important. ... show more

I did a *ton* of research before I chose this model. For the downstairs, which is all tile and hardwood, I use the Bissell PowerFresh Vac & Steam, and I love it. However, I have vinyl plank flooring throughout the upstairs of my house (four bedrooms and a hallway), and you can't use steam on vinyl plank, which is why I purchased the HF3. The HF3 has an open front, which means it can easily pick up larger debris (don't ask how Fruit Loops end up in my kids' bedrooms, just know that this easily sucks them up where other machines can't). It's lightweight, cordless, and with 30 minutes of battery, I can easily vacuum and mop the entire top floor of the house in one go. I love the self-cleaning feature. Emptying and rinsing out the dirty water container is a breeze. Because it doesn't use steam, it won't disinfect your floors, so if you're looking for something that can burn away germs in your kids' disgusting, tiled bathroom, or if you need a machine capable of melting away various food messes (jelly, yogurt, applesauce, etc.), I'd recommend the PowerFresh or the HydroSteam. If you're looking for an easy, no-maintenance system that's safe for vinyl, this is absolutely the machine for you. ... show more

I love this vacuum so much! Admittedly, it doesn't wet my floors as thoroughly as the previous Bissell Crosswave I had that plugged in. Not terribly powerful, either - I also have to let it hang out for a bit over a mark before it fully removes it. I don't really get the deep-cleaning feeling my old one gave me, but it does (enough of) the trick. The upside is that I can pull it out in a heartbeat like a Swiffer because it's cordless and lightweight. Fits perfectly in my laundry room and is always ready for me. Battery life is decent; I can clean about 4 large rooms before it gets low. Not a huge fan of the smaller-sized container for the cleaning solution because I have to refill after 1-2 rooms. Same thing goes for the small dirty water receptacle; I have to empty it after a room or 2. The self-cleaning feature is my favorite! I get grossed out by too much yuckiness in my wet vac, so it's nice how clean this one is by the time I take it apart. Final thought: the cleaning solutions for Bissell are expensive. When the bottles it came with were done, I switched to a (super) small amount of Fabuloso, and it cleans as well as their name-brand products. And, since I use the self-cleaning feature after every clean, I'm not worried about any residue sticking because of the non-Bissell product. So far, so great! ... show more

POS. Used once and it work good. However took it apart to clean after the first use and put it back together and it parts kept popping off. Used for the third time today and all it did was spread dirty water all over the house. The vacuum never drew the water back up. Took it apart multiple times and still did not work. Throwing in the trash and going to buy a regular mop for 1/4 the price and does not require be plugged in and special cleaner! ... show more

    • I’ve tried 3 Bissell Crosswave models and THIS is the best
I have tried the Bissell Crosswave Max and Bissell Crosswave X7 and in my opinion THIS model is the best. It has worked the best for my needs in a small apartment with hardwood flooring. It’s lightweight, easy to maneuver. It gets the floors clean without the heaviness and aggressiveness ( Crosswave Max ) of other models. I also like this roller the most, cleans the floors consistently with little to no streaking, I haven’t noticed it to streak. Disassembling to clean is self explanatory and very easy to clean the components and let air dry for best results. Moderate noise level, not too loud. The dirty water collection tank is rather small so I notice I have to empty that about twice to clean my tiny apartment thoroughly. I love it! I would recommend this model to you or anyone interested in trying a Bissell. ... show more

    • DONT THROW OUT YOUR REGULAR MOP!!
This is a great vacuum/mop for light cleaning jobs as it does pretty well for a light surface clean. I use this a couple times a week in between doing the floors with my O-Cedar spin mop. I like the O-Cedar spin mop for a good deep clean as I can put some pressure on it and scrub. This mop isn’t good for deep cleaning purposes. Also it rusts VERY quickly which I was disappointed in. In my opinion it’s not a pain to clean. I clean it pretty easily. I wipe off any dirt/hair with a wet paper towel and then soak the parts in the sink and will put them in the dishwasher once a week or two. However… the smell is hard to get out of the material scrubber part. No matter what I do it smells like an old wet rag ... show more
