A kiss in the gardens. A ruined reputation. A wager without a winner.Having been caught kissing an earl’s heir in the gardens during a ball, Miss Lucy Fitzsimmons has been relegated to the company of potted palms and wallflowers at London entertainments. Despite behaving as a perfect young lady up until that fateful night, she knows time won’t lessen the stain on her reputation. She’ll rarely be asked to dance, nor does she expect to be courted by anyone, but then given the terms of the wager, she won’t need to—her brother apparently gave the rake permission to court her!One thing is certain—when Marcus Higgins returns in two years, she intends to collect what she’s owed. They had made a wager, and she won.Meanwhile, Marcus has disappeared from London. The second son of the late Earl of Greenley, he left on a Grand Tour the day after he accepted the terms of a wager and kissed the young woman he has secretly been in love with since they were children. Two years away from her will be torture—he can’t get her out of his mind. His only saving grace is they made a wager, and he’s quite sure he was the winner. When he returns to British shores, a surprise for Lucy’s brother in tow, Marcus is determined to collect what he’s owed. • A Winning Wager!
Format: Kindle
The Wager of a Wallflower, by Linda Rae Sande and book 3 of the Revenge of the Wallflowers series, was a winning read! About to receive her first kiss in the gardens at a London ball, Miss Lucy Fitzsimmons makes a wager with Marcus Higgins, second son of the Earl of Greenley. If they are caught, he either marries her, or he gives her ten thousand pounds. She can’t lose! But Marcus doesn’t have ten thousand pounds and unbeknownst to Lucy, he’s leaving in the morning for two years on his Grand Tour. But marriage to Lucy is exactly what he wants! This story is fun from start to finish and gives you three interwoven love stories all in one! You’ll love it! ... show more

  • Always make a wager you are sure to win!
Format: Paperback
The Wager of a Wallflower starts out with a ball at the Weatherstone Manor. This could only mean a couple is going to get caught misbehaving in front of Cupid’s fountain! Before Marcus and Lucy get caught, Lucy insists on a wager that would guarantee she would be saved from ruination, one way or another. Unfortunately, Marcus takes off the next day for his Grand Tour and Lucy doesn’t realize that Marcus considers them betrothed. Lucy believes that Marcus will be paying her the large sum of money she named in the wager. Despite being in the scandal sheets and being forced to become a wallflower, Lucy holds her head high. In the meantime, her brother, Christopher, has been recovering from a war wound and is desperate to find his wife who went back to Spain when he went off to war. While Marcus is on board the ship taking him and his friends to Italy to begin their Grand Tour, he receives information that could help out Lucy and her brother. He is able to deliver a very welcome surprise! The Wager of a Wallflower has lots of witty banter and fun characters who don’t necessarily hold to the strict beliefs of the aristocracy. It was a great read! ... show more

  • What a kiss
Format: Kindle
Another exceptional story by this fantastic author. Super main characters and supporting ones. Each adding so much to the story. Marcus has loved Lucy since they were children playing in Hyde Park with other children. Lucy is a young lady who just wants a kiss by this young man. They go for a walk during a ball, each wanting a kiss for different reasons. Lucy makes a wager, Marcus takes her up on it and they get caught. So who really will win. Add into the mixture of Christopher, Lucy's brother , who was wounded in war leaving a young wife but has not been able to find her. An over bearing mother who wants her children to marry well. Marcus leaves to go on the Grand Tour but leaves a note for Lucy, he plans on returning in 2 years and marry her. Something happens on the first port stop that changes everything for Marcus. All this and more adds up to a great read. A fast paced read that you will not put down. Would strongly recommend to everyone. I am an ARC and leave this unbiased, honest review. ... show more

  • All's well that ends well
Format: Paperback
All's well that ends well in this engaging and romantic novel, as the young Marcus Higgins attempts to secure his place with Miss Lucy Fitzsimmons as his future bride. Unfortunately, his awkwardness and ignorance of the ways of the ton leave Lucy having to face the vicious gossips on her own. A serendipitous meeting allows Marcus to redeem himself and almost overnight he matures into an honorable man, one that wins favor with the Fitzsimmons household. I enjoyed the interface with characters from previous books by this author, as well as bringing about a reunion between lost lovers. There is wit and charm and a thread of suspense running through the book, making one worry in case the plot goes awry. I received a copy of this most enjoyable novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review. ... show more

  • Lucky Wager!
Format: Paperback
This story has 3 different romances playing out at the same time and it was so easy to keep them separate in my head, thanks to the cleverness of the writer, Linda Rae Sande. Each one is adequate in the telling and I was happily entertained. The main one about Lucy and Marcus is a fresh look at how one could become compromised or trapped into a marriage, whether it is a desired state or not and these two characters handled it like pros once they overcame their initial shock. There is enough detail to keep one interested and reading and that is exactly what I did, till the very end. Really well written and very enjoyable! I read an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) and am happy to post my voluntary review. ... show more
