I've been incredibly worried about purchasing an automatic litter box for my cat. He is very particular, and often refuses new toys or items we bring into the house. Upon receiving the CleanWell, I was pleased to see the easy setup instructions as well as tips for getting your cat to use the litter box. Assembly itself was super easy except for adding the waste bag. The pictures in instructions said to cinch the bag tightly, but you definitely cannot do that with the provided bags - they fit very snug. I was surprised with how high it was and mildly worried the cat would not love that, but it does not seem to be an issue. After it was assembled, I left it empty in the living room to test out if our cat would be adverse to it and to see how the distance sensor would perform. The distance sensor for a cat (or a human really) worked super well. We could run up to it quickly and it would sense almost immediately - you can tell from an icon on the display. The cat was unimpressed and hissing at it while it was sitting empty. We moved the CleanWell next to his current litter box, filled it, and left it off as the instructions suggested. I also took a cloth and gently rubbed his face then onto the CleanWell as was suggested in the instructions. Within 12 hours, the cat had used the new box (with the auto clean feature turned off). By the next day he had used it multiple times and we turned the auto-clean feature back on. We noticed he stopped using it for a bit after that, but soon came back to it and within 5 days he is using it without issues. The materials are nice and easy to clean which is a bonus. The cleaning motion is slow and quiet - another bonus if you have a skittish cat. While our litter box is hidden away, the appearance is very classy for a litter box. I was glad we had an outlet fairly close to the current litter box setup as the cord is quite short. A longer cord would be really nice even as a separate purchasable accessory. The app that you can setup is incredibly nice for tracking when the box is used, especially at the beginning. I can't say I typically care about this, but being able to know it is being used is a really nice feature. I imagine I will mostly use the app to be notified when the waste bag needs to be emptied unless our cat gets sick and needs more monitoring. Overall, this was a great purchase for us. The quality and thought put into making it easy for owners and cats to adjust is top notch. You can tell that a lot of thought went into making sure this wasn't just something to make owners life easier, but also for the cat itself to be comfortable. I would not recommend sharing this litter box with multiple cats as the amount of litter inside is quite small (though it does not need to be more with just one cat and an auto-clean).

This is my first time using an automatic litter box. I was hesitant to try this out only because our cat is skittish when it comes to sudden movement and she likes to poop with all her paws on the edge of the box (see pic below) and I wasn't sure if it would have enough space for her to lay her paws on. First things first, this litter box is pretty quiet and moves slowly, which is awesome. I think it's a good size for my cat who is about 8-9lbs and long haired. It did come with the items it said it would and clear instructions on how to assemble (super easy assemble) and how to set up the app. I do like that you don't necessarily need the app in order for it to function. There are buttons on the litter box so you can manually manage it - which is a plus considering apps can easily malfunction or not be accurate. So far the only con about the app is, it doesn't seem to be totally accurate on how often my cat is using the litter box, which honestly isn't a deal breaker, I don't need to know but for the price and if it's what the app offers, it would be great if it was more accurate on its reading. So far odor control seems great and it does a great job at emptying the box. Even though it comes with trash bags, you don't really need to buy their trash bags in order for the bottom tray to work, but it's great they include 30 bags. They also offer these black stickers to put on inside to help prevent any build up from forming but they only give you so many and you would need to take them off to fully clean the box anyways, so I don't think it's necessary to use them. The litter box itself is big but not huge and I don't feel like it's taking up a lot of space in comparison to some other ones I have seen on the market. My cat seems to be able to put all four of her paws on the edge of the box when she poops, but she does need to balance a bit more than when she had her other litter boxes with bigger/flatter edges. So if your cat likes to do the same, check out my picture and see if it would be enough space for yours! We have only had the box for a few days, so I am curious how the longevity of it goes and hoping the box itself doesn't have any malfunctions along the way. Traditionally, we like to give our cat two litter boxes so she has more space and options and we don't have to scoop everyday, especially if we are gone on a trip BUT having one litter box that does the scooping for you and keeping it clean daily is a lot better and takes up less space overall. I do appreciate that Bissell gives back to animals and they treat their employees well, so if I am going to support a company who makes products like these, it would be Bissell.

I have had the litter robot 3 for about 2 or 3 years now and have become increasingly unhappy with it so I decided to upgrade. The BISSELL CleanWell has so far solved all of my problems, and for nearly half the price! Set up: Set up was easy! Comes mostly assembled, just a few pieces you have to snap or slide into place. It is a little bigger than the standard litter box, but smaller than my old one (both are shown in my pics) Acclimation: My two cats were already used to an automated litter box, so acclimation was easy. As soon as I set up the CleanWell, they completely stopped using the old one. They even jumped in it immediately after set up. Sound Level: I am blown away by how quiet this thing is when it’s cycling! The only reason I know it’s even going off is because you can hear the waste drop into the bin. I live in a small apartment so my only option is to have the litter box in my living room. I used to have to pause the tv or turn the volume up when my old litter box would cycle, but I don’t have this issue with the CleanWell. You can turn on do not disturb mode too if you don’t want it to go off at certain times. Odor: It’s still new, but so far I haven’t noticed any litter smell whatsoever and I am SO pleased. The waste bin really seems to trap the smell entirely! Ease of cleanliness: Replacing the waste bag is so easy and I like that it comes with some replacement bags. I haven’t had to clean it yet, but it looks like it will be easy to empty and wipe down. I also really like that it’s more open than my old one, should be much easier to deep clean when the time comes. Drawbacks: My only complaint is that this doesn’t come with steps. Since my cats have to jump out of it, I’ve noticed a lot of litter scattered on the floor, even outside of the mat area. Overall, I’m very pleased with the quality of this litter box!

As a cat owner who has tried just about every litter solution on the market, including other robots, the Bissell CleanWell Automatic Litter Box has genuinely impressed me. The OdorVault Technology has been a great feature. My cats' room no longer has that telltale litter box smell, which alone makes this worth the price. The waste bin also holds roughly 20 days of waste, meaning I've gone from emptying a litter box every couple of days to doing it just once or twice a month. Setup was fast, under 15 minutes, and so far it's been super simple to clean. Considering Bissell has never made a litter robot before, I've been pleasantly surprised with how low maintenance and easy to navigate the product was. My cats have adjusted seamleassly, and while they are used to using an automated litter box, they're generally pretty finicky any time I try to introduce something new to their routine. I've also never seen a product of any kind have such cool ingenuity around the product setup instructions and reuse of the box. Finding out the packaging turns into stairs for the litter robot and a toy for my cats was such a pleasant and thoughtful surprise. I do think it goes to show how much Bissell has put into making this the best product and experience for your cat. Overall, the CleanWell is a product I'd confidently recommend to any cat owner who wants an improvement to their existing robot or looking to upgrade for the first time.

I really like the idea of it being a partially top entry automatic litter box. However, I did notice that my very small 12 Pound cat does not properly fit in the litter box so her urine goes all over the walls and or outside of the drum. In order to better support the drum tray, you have to play stickers on the edges and the urine and feces do get stuck on those stickers and the urine does penetrate through and gets underneath the drum. I cleaned it literally everyday to ensure that the urine smell doesn't penetrate. But you can smell it all over my efficiency apartment. I've had it set up for around a week but I will be returning it.

very easy to setup, the instructions have every detail you'd need and easy to read. had no issues getting it up and running. it cycled immediately and was so quiet it didn't bother me or my cat at all. my cat was instantly interested and jumped in the day after it was setup as he is naturally curious. did his business and it cycled after it detected he was gone. the included mat for litter tracking has done it's job already! i've noticed the light to detect him is rather sensitive, which i appreciate as it will keep him safe from any potential incidents with the cycling. very good quality interior and spacious for my cat. this is my first automatic cleaner and very impressed!

Easy to assemble, feels like a quality product. Relatively large which is not a problem for our family due to it being in the laundry room out of view but would not work as well in a smaller home or apartment. Quiet during operation. The app is easy to navigate and was helpful for determining when the cat finally got used to it and started using it (took our indoor/outdoor cat about 2 weeks but results would vary). The price feels a bit steep but overall value will be determined based on longevity.

We have had it for about a week. Our cats took to it immediately. The rubber piece that seals the box came away from the side(its the side of little tab in the front). What is the best litter to use. The Arm and Hammer clumping litter is sticking to the sides. Which one is best?
