This umbrella comes as advertised. It seems solidly built and assembly is easy. It is large and you will need some decent room on your patio/deck to make it work. I think some of the problems noted in negative comments have been fixed by adding support "wings" to the base tube and stronger parachute cord for the cable. I was amused by the negative comments that mentioned that the umbrella wasn't stable. This type of offset system MUST include weights on the legs or it will not stand up. The weights are clearly not included with the umbrella and there is a combo deal to by both together. Even with this additional cost the price of the total set up is VERY reasonable when you do some comparison shopping. Finally, if you can't take care of your purchase by lowering it when not in use, taking it in for the winter or buying a cover, or not raising it during hurricane winds, you probably deserve whatever happens to it. Take reasonable care of it and you'll be happy.

5 years outside in southeast Kansas. Never brought in. Color has maintained. No mildew. Easy to clean by spraying with a hose. A screw comes loose sometimes allowing it to pivot from where I want it, but tighten it back up and it's good to go. It is now showing wear and tear after it was left open and a storm came. Blew it into the porch and ripped a little. I do not feel it reflects negatively on the quality but does show it's durability. I am impressed with this umbrella and plan to purchase another. Tip: if you are in an area that gets windy definitely get a nice heavy base. Cinderblocks only work short term. And close it if there is going to be a storm.

We use this 10-foot offset umbrella to provide shade over a hammock and a 14-foot umbrella net on our wood deck. It is tucked in an outside corner of our house, so it gets some protection from the wind. We needed an umbrella with an extending arm so we could fully cover the hammock, and this one fit the bill nicely. When it's fully extended and opened, the edge of the umbrella sits at eye-height for me, so I have to duck slightly to get under it. Setup Assembly was straightforward, though you will need a wrench to tighten the bolts. There are four bolts for the base and two more to attach the main shaft to the base. I was able to set it up alone with no major issues. The umbrella and main shaft are heavy, but manageable for someone my size (5'7", 160 lbs). It took about 15 minutes from box to fully upright. Material and Durability The umbrella fabric feels thick and sturdy and has held up well after a full year of use. There are no rips, tears, or fading so far. The main shaft is metal and still looks brand new, with no rust or bending. The base structure, on the other hand, is not as strong. The metal legs are thinner than I expected, and during one storm, one of the legs bent even though we had weighted the base. I was able to bend it back without much trouble, but it did cause some wobbling. Heavier weights might have helped prevent that, although it is hard to say for sure. I used the Best Choice Products 4-piece umbrella base filled with water, which worked well, but sand would probably be a better long-term option. At the end of the first summer, the rope inside the crank mechanism snapped. That was disappointing, but I was able to repair it myself by taking the umbrella apart, removing the damaged section of rope, and retying it. It was just standard nylon rope, so it may have been a one-off issue. I am not especially handy, but with a screwdriver and a bit of patience, I was able to get it working again. Functionality The umbrella functions well overall. It only took one time to figure out how to extend the arm and lock it into place. From fully closed to fully open takes about a minute. My 15- and 13-year-old kids can handle the mechanism without trouble. It was a little too heavy for my 11-year-old, but not by much. The crank for opening and closing the canopy is smooth and easy to use, especially once the arm is extended into place. Final Thoughts This umbrella provides excellent shade, looks great, and is functional enough for daily backyard use. It is not perfect. The base needs additional support, and the rope snapping was a letdown, but both problems were repairable. For the price and flexibility, I still think it is a good value and would recommend it, just be ready to do a little hands-on maintenance if needed.

I LOVE the color, I LOVE that it's 10 ft and enough shade to cover almost my entire deck. I LOVE that i don't have to have it in the middle of my table. I consider my reviews to be very honest and not just complaints, but this umbrella was $79... i was expecting it to be a little better quality than the $12 umbrealla at Big Lots. It was NOT better quality. I'm not exagerating when i say, this thing is good for nothing unless you want a kite. Seriously. Only buy this umbrella if you have ZERO wind where you live. like not even a tiny breeze! seriously!! this Umbrella is designed for indoors. I even looked to see if i could find out who the product testers were so i could ask them if they were paid off to clear this product!! b/c i'm not sure how ANYONE gives this more than a 1 star. If i was able to give this ZERO stars, i would! if you look at this product as a whole in the reviews, it gets 4 stars... i should have read more of the reviews instead of trusting the general opinion. To be honest, i gave this a 1 star for assembly. but i did that to pull it's ratings down b/c i feel sorry for anyone who buys this and was excited i was to get it to find out that it's complete trash! but honestly, it was not hard to assemble. If you read, you know that the weights are not included, that was no issue for me b/c i already had weights and we were planning of bloting it down anyway... This umbrella is a great idea, but to make it GOOD, you'd have to use HIGH QUALITY
