Bought two of these awnings, one single and one double. I will say that they are fairly attractive, but my praise will end there. As to the negatives, well let’s get into them. First of all, due to a questionable design, they are very difficult to assemble. The problems start with what they call the H-connector that ties the two shade panels together. The problem here is that the connector is too thick to slide easily into the rail slot. It will fit if you’re lucky, but is unlikely to hold. Another problem is the side screws which are supposed to provide lateral strength as well as tie the end pieces into the rails. Here the problem is the rather pitiful Molly bolt arrangement that is supposed to hold it all together. The mollys are unfortunately easy to dislodge and the whole thing will come apart in a high wind. This issue is exacerbated with the double as there is no way to connect both sides into the center rail, leaving the second side a bit less stable. The instructions, by the way, are flat out awful, but anyone familiar with assembling modular furniture should be able to figure it out. A step by step breakdown with diagrams would help. The unit is meant to be assembled first before mounting, but it is so fragile in this state that you will almost certainly have to do it several times, and this is when the problem fitting the H-connector into the rails is most annoying. Even after you’re finished and the thing is mounted, you may have to do it all over unless you do some kind of lateral reinforcement (I’m using bungee cords as a temporary measure, but I have little confidence in them for the long haul). Once mounted, getting the H-connector to fit into the rail becomes an order of magnitude more difficult because you have to line it up and jam it in without everything else falling apart. So, basically, I gave this two stars because it looks nice and I was feeling generous. Would not buy again.
