  • A Fantastic 360 Camera That’s Held Up Everywhere I’ve Taken It
Style: Standalone
The Insta360 X4‑8K has been one of the best camera purchases I’ve made. I bought it last year for a family vacation and waited to really put it through its paces before reviewing it. After using it on that trip and then taking it along on multiple motorcycle rides, I can say it’s been consistently impressive. - Image quality is excellent, especially in 360 mode where the 8K resolution really shows. - Durability has been solid—it’s handled travel, weather, and vibration from the bike without any issues. - Ease of use is a big win. The menus, shooting modes, and app integration make it simple to capture and edit footage. - Versatility is where it shines: family trips, outdoor adventures, motorcycle rides—it’s handled all of it. I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a reliable, high‑quality 360 action cam that can keep up with real‑world use. ... show more

After extensively using the Insta360 X4 360 camera, I can confidently say that it's a fantastic tool for capturing immersive and dynamic content. Here's why I rate it 4 out of 5 stars: Exceptional Image Quality: The Insta360 X4 delivers stunning image quality, capturing every detail with clarity and precision. Whether I'm shooting photos or videos, the camera consistently produces sharp, vibrant images that exceed my expectations. The 360-degree field of view ensures that nothing is missed, allowing me to relive moments from every angle. Intuitive Controls and User-Friendly Interface: One of the standout features of the Insta360 X4 is its user-friendly interface and intuitive controls. Navigating through the various shooting modes and settings is a breeze, thanks to the well-designed companion app. I appreciate how easy it is to adjust exposure, white balance, and other parameters on the fly, ensuring that I always capture the perfect shot. Stabilization Technology: With built-in stabilization technology, the Insta360 X4 ensures smooth and steady footage even in challenging shooting conditions. Whether I'm walking, running, or capturing fast-paced action, the camera effectively reduces shake and jitter, resulting in professional-quality videos that are a joy to watch. Versatile Shooting Modes: The Insta360 X4 offers a wide range of shooting modes and creative features, allowing me to unleash my creativity and capture unique perspectives. From time-lapse and hyperlapse to bullet time and clone shot, there's no shortage of creative possibilities with this camera. I particularly enjoy experimenting with the different modes to create engaging and visually stunning content. While the Insta360 X4 is undoubtedly a top-notch 360 camera, there are a few areas where it could improve to reach perfection. Firstly, the battery life could be better, as I find myself needing to recharge frequently, especially during extended shooting sessions. Additionally, while the stabilization technology is impressive, it could be even more effective in reducing motion blur in low-light conditions. Overall, the Insta360 X4 is an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore the world of 360-degree photography and videography. With its exceptional image quality, user-friendly interface, stabilization technology, and versatile shooting modes, it's a powerful tool that unlocks endless creative possibilities. • The Ultimate 360° Camera for Professional Training and Travel Tours
Style: Standalone
After making a recent purchase of the Insta360 X4, I can say without a doubt that it has completely revolutionized the way I conduct my business and travel. For me, the most notable feature is the 8K video resolution, which provides a level of clarity and detail that is absolutely breathtaking in each and every shot. I am able to create 360-degree breakout rooms for professional training, as well as perform walk-throughs and guided tours of facilities, and the video quality is unmatched in all of these endeavors. Because of its extraordinary versatility, the Insta360 X4 is an excellent choice for use in interior as well as outside settings. For the purpose of capturing immersive guided tours of cities while I am traveling, I utilize it. The resolution of 8K ensures that every street, monument, and cultural site is reproduced in exquisite detail, presenting spectators with an experience that is virtually as lifelike as possible. The simplicity with which this camera may be operated is what truly sets it apart from others. In order to facilitate training sessions, it is a breeze to set up 360-degree breakout rooms, and the footage is so clear that it gives the impression that the participants are truly present. The same is true for facility walk-throughs; the level of detail that is captured helps to bring attention to significant areas that could otherwise go overlooked. In general, the Insta360 X4 proved to be superior to what I had anticipated. One must have this technology in order to create 360-degree content of a professional standard, regardless of whether they are doing so for business or for fun. Strongly suggested for use! ... show more

  • Great 360 Camera with Amazing Features
Style: Standalone
I’ve been using the Insta360 X4 for a while now, and overall it’s a great 360° camera with impressive features. The 8K 360 video quality is excellent for capturing immersive footage, and the ability to reframe shots later is a huge advantage, especially for travel and action videos. The stabilization is very good, even when moving fast, and the Invisible Selfie Stick effect works really well, making videos look professional and smooth. The mobile app is easy to use and offers plenty of editing options, even for beginners. ... show more

  • Good Almost
Style: Standalone
I don’t leave many reviews. Items are usually good or bag and need no explanation. This camera is ok. Not good or bad. The camera video is ok. I record on a motorcycle. The depth is quite shallow and it is still hard to get fine details at road speeds. Street signs are blurred regardless of video settings. Not much better than the first iteration. If you’re taking selfies it is very good. I found no problem with the battery life and the app is quite good. I scratched the lens by putting it in my pocket. My fault completely but the lenses are entirely too easy to scratch and nearly $140 to replace. I removed the lens covers during a ride in fog because the moisture trapped in had completely made any video useless. Later I put the camera in my pocket with my key forgetting about lens covers. It doesn’t take much to ruin the lenses. They are protruding from the device and you have to be extremely careful. I confused this selfie camera with an action camera and you should consider the difference before you buy it. Edit 8/7/2024: The company reached out to me and I find their customer service excellent and they are very diligent in resolving any issues. I will buy again I am sure. I believe after a closer look I will be buying the Insta360 Ace Pro to capture more of the detail I am looking for. I was a GPro user through several models and there were never-ending hardware and power consumption issues. Comparatively I've never had a single function issue with Insta360 products and battery life runs circles around Gpro. ... show more

  • Insane Action Camera and Perfect for Catching all the Action - and Fits in Your Pocket!
Style: Standalone
I have owned every Insta360 360 camera so far (with the exception of the Titan). This is the best one yet, as it should be. But it is a product that shows that Insta360 listens to their customers. 8K is the big headline item and it gives you the highest resolution yet in a consumer 360 camera. When you reframe (which is changing the view after recording - all in the amazing Insta360 mobile app or the Studio app for computers), you get 2.7k video. This is perfect for how most of this kind of footage is consumed - online and in social media. The battery life is much better than before. It comes with lens guards to make sure you don’t damage the actual lens - and the footage still looks great. The overall photo and video quality is really really great! Please note that it does not come with a selfie stick but is compatible with them to give you that awesome angle of the stick eliminated from the video. This makes it look like you have a personal cameraman or a drone with you wherever you go - but you actually have all you need in a pocket! It is more rugged than the X3 and feels much better in the hand. The display is a bit larger than before and has gorilla glass to keep it in better shape for longer. All in all, this is an incredible camera that I don’t like to reduce to just being an action camera - it is more like the perfect lifestyle camera because it’s ready and tough enough to shoot your life wherever you are. ... show more

  • Cool camera - but I had some specific concerns for my style of using it
Style: Standalone
So, I know it's made more for action and such, but I thought it would be fun to give to a bride or in a cosplay convention, which is why I wanted it. My hope was that I could hand it to the bride or groom and have them have some fun with it. It works well, but it's not perfect for that. I like the build quality, it's easy to use, and a lot of times the video quality is great. It's definitely fun to mess around with the angles and zoom features like tiny world and ultra wide. Overall, I love the idea of the camera and will use it for certain situations. Battery life seems great, I've used it for a couple events so far, and it's been solid. I bought a backup battery, but haven't needed to change it out during an event yet. Granted, I'm mainly a photographer, so I do use it somewhat sparingly. But overall I'd say it lasted for a solid couple hours of shooting with no issues. The menus are easy to navigate, the touchscreen is responsive, and everything is durable on the unit. A couple of quick things that I noted (again, these are issues really just in the way that I use it, might not be an issue for someone else): 1) You have to use the Insta360 editor to basically set up the shots the way you want and then export them to the correct format to be used in something like Premiere Pro. Not unexpected, but if you think about the editing process, this doubles my time essentially, especially if I'm using clips from other sources which I normally do. If you're just using the insta software, it'll be fine, no worries... but when I have to pre-edit my edits.... it's just a bit of a drain on my resources. (And this isn't really the fault of the device so much as it's just mildly frustrating for the way I plan to use it). 2) I noticed in some of my clips, a weird 'banding' effect (blur really) in certain situations. It made the footage unusable, and the worst part is I'm not sure where it came from. It's possible that it's not the fault of the device, but the lenses were clean and clear, unobstructed. These are the only things that were an issue for me, and I'm sure that's being super particular and is unique to what I wanted to use it for. I still think it's a pretty awesome device and will allow me to create some cool shots for my uses. For this 'review' I'm giving it 5 stars, but for me personally, It might be more like 4.4 stars because of my intended use. I battled back and forth over this or GoPro, and decided to try this as something different since I've used GoPros for a long time. Maybe I just need to do more experimenting. ... show more

  • Great improvement over the Insta360 x3
Style: Standalone
While I struggled with support at the beginning and actually returned my camera, I was later connected with a representative named Eddie who helped address all of my concerns and went out of his way to protect their brand and ensure I was a happy customer. The quality of the shots compared to the x3 is a HUGE improvement. I still have some troubles being able to read license plates from this camera from more than 1/2 a car length away when using it as a dashcam for on my motorcycle, it's nice to have the piece of mind when out riding. I also get shots that I could not possibly achieve with another camera/mounting system. If you are riding, I absolutely recommend the latest generation of motorcycle mounts as they are signficantly improved from the original ones sold with the x3 units. Should you have any troubles, I highly recommend reaching out to support. While it may take some back and forth, I do believe they care about their customers and they did everything they could possibly do to work with me regarding stability and quality concerns and have exceeded my expectations, resulting in me purchasing additional products from them and trusting their brand as much as I trust GoPro. I can state the x4 is much more solid than the x3. During my troubleshooting process, the camera struck the ground at highway speeds and did not shatter like the previous model did when the selfie stick extended the full length and caused the unit to hit the ground. This goes to prove the build quality will meet most use cases. It does well under water (granted I'm no diver) and continues to impress with some of the shots I have taken. I do not recommend the extended selfie stick as it pulls itself out to full extension at highway speeds unless you tape it down, but all of the Motorcycle equipment (currently at 2nd genreation) has worked well to maintain stability and keep my unit from coliding with the ground again. I can't speak higher praises in regard to my support case with Eddie, he truly cared and stuck with me through the entire process to ensure I was a satisfied customer. UPDATE: Upon further review, the selfie stick + mount is still a hot mess and cannot be trusted. It MUST have a 2nd point of contact as the mount itself is not enough to keep the mount from falling down and your camera being destroyed. While the product does hold better, bolts still loosened at highway speeds and the product cannot be trusted on it's own. Support claims 40kmph is all the product is designed for, which basically states you can't use this product outside of a school zone or parking lot. While build quality could use some improvements, there have been major improvements in their clamps since version 1. Hopefully the next version can achieve ACTUAL motorcycle speeds, or at least the speed limits. Video quality is also not as amazing as I would hope, especially if trying to use it as a dashcam as 99% of license plates are blurry, so nothing could hold up in court to save you, even with higher frame rates. ... show more
