I bought this to place over a winder that has a dog door and dog bed beneath it, and though rain can get to the dog bed, it helps keep the rain away from the dog door (as long as it's not blowing sideways). I mounted it to a wood ledger instead of mounting it directly to the side of the house. If you're putting this up by yourself, it will be difficult, you'll have to put up one panel with an outer and the center support, then install the second set of panels and the other end support. Since I mounted it to a 12" wood ledger, I was able to predrill all the mounting holes on a pair of sawhorses first, which made it much easier to install 8 feet up on the side of the house. We've had a couple of downpours and very strong winds and it has held up very well.

This is false advertising. The clear plastic is a misrepresentation. The plastic they send is the same corrugated plastic campaign signs are made from. This is not worth $10. I will make these lemons into lemonade by keeping it for the longer awning braces, and make my own awning cover using aluminum. Flimsy. You get what you pay for.

Poor instruction(confusing)picture descriptions are not clear. Could not assemble per instructions. So I assembled in an order that worked for me. Once completed and installed, the awning seems to be a good product. Time will tell how it holds up to Wisconsin winter
