The 48 Amp Hardwired EV Charger for Tesla’s by AWESAFE, is well-made, high performing charger, with all the features and capabilities you should need to keep your EV charged. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying. I. Quality – This charger looks and feels like it’s well-made, with thick cables and a strong build. I’d put the overall quality in the lower side of the upper tier of the quality scale for at home EV chargers and guess that it should hold up well over time. II. Performance – It’s worked great in many ways, with a top of the market 48 Amp capability that is adjustable with 4 different amp choices to fit your needs. The 4.3-inch screen is nice to have, providing helpful information to help stay on top of your charging progress. It has about every available feature with many safety features, Wi-Fi, RFID cards and app control. The 22-foot cable is on a little shorter the average of 25ft. of what’s available, but still long enough if you can’t park next to the charger. It works seamlessly with all Tesla’s without any compatibility issues. The installation was fairly ease is you can wire an outlet; you should be able to handle this. However, most areas will require this to be certified or installed by an electrician to be compliant with codes. It feels like this product is currently offering a decent value considering the quality, performance, durability and what you’re getting. III. Hardwired – Keep in mind that this one will need to be hardwired to a 60 A breaker to utilize the full 48 Amps and doesn’t come with a plug. I actually see this as an advantage (if you don’t have an outlet yet), as you will be eliminating a potential weak point by not having an outlet that could fail. However, that means that it’s not meant to be portable at all. Also, the hardwires are a bit short and will need to be mounted close to the breaker box the way it comes. Overall, this is a fantastic option that offers a very high charging ability, with quality, convenience and most features you can currently get. I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems with it. You can trust that this review is simply my honest opinion that is attempting to provide you with helpful insight that I wish I had before I picked this product. This is more than your basic EVSE that requires a higher level of manual/physical interaction. With remote control and monitoring capabilities through the WiFi enabled app, you can deal with charging from anywhere in your network. Including through a VPN from outside your network. The LCD and charging light indicator help you to see what is happening should you be in proximity to the EVSE though. Since more and more vehicle brands are now adopting the NACS connector I am pleased to see it on this EVSE. It really is a superior connector and finally time that a standard was settled on. I am using this EVSE at it's maximum rating of 48A and it is working quite well. It provides an almost constant 48A and in the times that it does not, I believe that it is being limited more by the vehicle. I made sure to install 4AWG conductor with a hardwired 60A circuit (minimum) for this EVSE since the it needs to be de-rated by 20% per code. For me this was an easy install since I was able to run the conductors through conduit to the location I planned. It does protrude off the wall a fair bit which may impact those with a very shallow garage. The scheduling function is really great for people who live in areas where their utility enforces off-peak hours/time-of-use rates. I can confirm that this function works properly. I simply plug in my car any time of the day and it only charges between specified hours. The charging cable is pretty heavy-duty and feels rugged. All that being said however, I am slightly disappointed with the 22' charging cable length. I would have expected at least a 25-26' cable. Although not much longer, it could mean the difference between reaching and not reaching the charge port on a larger vehicle. Careful planning for larger vehicles can make this a non-issue though. Regardless, I have already seen this on sale with deep discounts making it an even better value IMO.

My setup involves two side-by-side 40-foot shipping containers used for storage and as a garage. I already have one EV charger installed inside for when I park there, but I frequently park just outside and needed a second charger to avoid leaving the container doors open simply to run a cable. This charger was an excellent solution. Aesthetically, it's quite similar in design to my official Tesla Wall Connector located near the house, just finished in black (seems Toyota isn't the only brand taking design inspiration from other brand these days!). The unit feels robustly built and features a helpful display and an RFID reader for access control if needed. Critically, it can deliver up to 48A (providing 11.5kW), matching the maximum AC charging speed for Tesla vehicles. The native NACS plug is a major convenience, especially since I've now standardized on Tesla vehicles after less positive experiences with other EVs. However, the standout feature is its integration with the Tuya / SmartLife app ecosystem. Tuya compatibility opens up a vast range of automation possibilities. You can easily set schedules to charge only during off-peak electricity hours, potentially trigger charging only when excess solar power is detected (if you have a compatible smart home setup), create notifications or other automations base on several parameters. This smart integration truly elevates the charger, adding significant value to what is already a solid 5-star device based on its hardware capabilities alone. It perfectly addresses my need for convenient, powerful, and intelligent outdoor charging for my unique container garage setup.
