This sun sail made my front porch usable! Prior to putting this up the front porch got hard sun all afternoon. Now I can actually sit out here all day long. I was worried that the black would trap heat underneath, but it doesn't. The fact that this one is waterproof as opposed to the mesh is a huge bonus. This.porch is so shallow that any rain coming down got to a person sitting there. Now I can sit here and watch the rain. I've used the traditional mesh sails on my back deck and around my pool for probably almost 20 years. The biggest complaint is that after a light rain it came through the sail and we could no longer sit on the deck. After putting this one out here I replaced the one on the back deck as well. SO MUCH BETTER! So far I also feel better about the D rings and where the sail is stitched together. Every mesh sail ive.owned the D rings came off of and.they would eventually rip right along the seams this one seems as if that won't be.the same. I'll let you know after a season or two. Love that.it comes in black to match my roof and trim. EDIT A YEAR LATER: The black faded MASSIVELY. I would guess that's to be expected but it doesn't look quite so nice now. The BIG drawback: because thus is waterproof the material stretches because of water pooling on it. The stitched edges however, do not stretch. So, now it sags in the middle like a hammock and there is no tightening to stop it. The sun sails that are not waterproof also stretch, but so does the edge and this isn't a big problem. ... show more

I like the UV protection from the sun this sturdy vinyl canvas gives and i like how easy it is to secure on hooks with its reinforced ring holes on each corner.

I bought this long before I got around to putting it up. It is actually bigger than I imagined but I made it work for my purpose. I just wrapped the slack around a beam I constructed. I used turn buckles to pull it tight. Seems to be pretty heavy duty. I have annoying neighbors with a big floodlight and they leave all their backyard lights on. That and I don't like that they are nosey. They have a pool platform they stand on and stare over the fence. Total idiots. So this is my solution. I bought this to put up over an awning frame for this summer. My awning that was made for the frame needs repaired. I thought this would work well. It does but I cant get it to stay tight so when it rains water gathers in-between the bars on the metal frame.
