The Maestro Nonstick Frying Pan is available in 8”, 9.5”, and 11” sizes with a ceramic nonstick, non-toxic coating free from PFAS and PFOA . Has a really nice heavy quality feel. The upright sides make it seem smaller than comparable sized pans. At this price it should come with a lid!! But the most important part of the review- it truly is non stick! I'm impressed. Very. I made an omelette with no oil. Salmon, skin down! No oil. This is the Maestro, a 8" non-stick ceramic frying pan from Alva which was priced at $120 when ordered. This is a premium quality pan with a premium price tag. The pan is very well made and is high quality product. You must use "Low to Medium" heat with this pan. The instructions say to do so, but in fine print hidden within the instructions. High heat will ruin the non stick nature of your pan much more quickly. Having ruined a pan or two before, I knew this from experience and havent mistreated this pan yet. After a month of use, it is still holding its non stick nature. Im impressed as most pans start to stick a bit after the first month. With this pan you dont have to worry about coating flaking, which is nice, but ceramic can still chip so Ive been using silicone cookware exclusively with this pan. We also wait until the pan is reasonably cool after cooking then wash as soon as possible to maximize longevity of all our non-stick cookware. The cooking experience with this pan was fantastic. The first time this pan was use, I was surprised at being able to brown par cooked potatoes so quickly in hot oil at low/medium heat. It passed the egg test with flying colors and would make a decent dedicated egg pan. This pan is truely non-stick. The temperature distribution about the pan was top knotch as it didn't have any hot spots even at the center. The maestro is also oven safe at up to 300 degrees F. due to the handle design, but I didn't actually test it in the oven. The non-stick performance was on about on par with the best I've ever used and I'm currently still very happy with this pans performance. The packaging should have been better for the price as my pan had a scrape on the top edge when it arrived. The manufacturers packing doesnt protect the pan at all, and while the printing is real nice, the design is very minimal. Even cosmetic damage to a new $120 pan is normally cause for return. Overall, I like this pan allot and it performs well. Its non stick coating is real good and seems to have some solid longevity to it. Even with its stellar peformance, the price does feel high. If its lasts long enough it will be worth it though. ... show more

ALVA cookware — designed in Belgium, though mostly made in China — manufactures nonstick skillets and other types of cookware. This skillet is made of forged aluminum with a ceramic, nonstick coating. The smooth surface makes wiping away food residue as easy as any other nonstick skillet I own, and that includes skillets made by Caraway, Made In, Our Place, and Berndes. The thick aluminum base distributes heat, and despite my searing a steak on the skillet the very first time I used it, I found no hot spots. ALVA emphasizes using sustainable, non-toxic materials in their products. The Maestro collection claims a ceramic coating, free from PFAS and PFOA chemicals. And finally, since the skillet is made of aluminum, it’s lighter than some skillets made from cast iron, or other materials. All that out of the way, I have to say that I’m confused by some of the reviews on this site, regarding this skillet. As I mentioned above, I have several premium non-stick skillets, but none of them is better than this one. Also, aesthetics count at this price-point. Alva didn’t let me down there either. The handle of this skillet is impeccable. The surface finish of this skillet sparkles like you’re looking into a star-filled universe. The sides of this skillet are higher than most 8” skillets, giving it an unique and captivating artistic silhouette. Plus, the extra large bottom — thanks to the straight edges — gives you 20% larger usable surface. From my point of view, this ALVA skillet is every bit as good, if not better, than all the super-premium skillet brands mentioned above — at a very reasonable price. ... show more

I would like to say I loved these pans but both that I ordered arrived in separate boxes and were either scratched or dinged on the sides and rim. I have returned both and will be ordering directly from the company.

What I like most about this pan is the large cooking area. I've included a photo showing how much additional space you have compared to a similar size pan. (Pictured on right) I also like how the heat distribution is very even, not overcooking in center and undercooking on edges. It's all cooked evenly. To date (within 7-10 days) it has retained it's "non-stick" qualities. We do handwash it with a soft rag. We have easily cooked chicken and eggs without issue. The handle is only "cool" on the outer half. This pan is heavy and if you slide your hand just a little too close to the middle/inner part of the handle for a little extra leverage, you will get burned. It's hot the closer you get to the pan. (Feels like a "duh," but with the heaviness of the pan with food I needed to grip it a little closer to pour out the sauce and discovered this the hard way.) I see some reviews mentioning packaging and damage. Our pan arrived in an oversized box without ANY packaging materials. No bubble wrap, extra cushioning, packing paper, etc. I was very surprised it wasn't damanged. For the price, the manufacturer, shipper, etc. should look into how it's being TOO CASUALLY boxed and allowed to slide/roll/bump all over the place during shipping. ... show more
