  • Pretty Awesome (with caveats)
Size: 12 x 10 Color: Ivory
Review one month after install... OK, so first of all, set your expectations here. This is a fairly lightweight, water (REPELLENT) awning at a great price. It is not portrayed to be Sunbrella fabric or a heavy duty waterproof vinyl awning. As long as you keep that in mind, you'll be pleased with your purchase. My goal was to replace the heavy duty waterproof awning that came with my manual SunSetter awning. I like to keep my awning out pretty much year round so that was "the ideal" but the $400-$500 cost to get a manufacturer replacement just seemed out of line so I decided to go with this. PROS: + PRICE -- YOU SIMPLY CANNOT BEAT THIS PRICE FOR A FINISHED, READY TO INSTALL FABRIC! + Variety -- nice selection of styles and I'm tempted to get a different type just to change things up sometime. + Fairly easy to install - against recommendation, I did this alone and found the biggest issue was in the design of the Sunsetter frame so I can't blame Aleko. + Lets the sun through but blocks (most) of the heat and rain. (I chose the light Ivory color so of course your color choice will affect this.) CONS: - Creases are still showing in the awning from where it was folded for shipment, not a deal breaker. - Awning is water RESISTANT, not WATERPROOF. It'll stand up to a light/medium rain, but once it's saturated it begins to drip a bit (again, not a deal breaker thus far and honestly once its raining that hard there's more wind/spray under the awning anyway so a bit of a moot point.) I may try a spray on water-proofer but haven't yet. Catch 22's - (For my personal application) - I thought I read that someone used this to replace their SunSetter (Manual) awning fabric. I found that it was too "deep" after installation (that is, the awning was not tight when fully unrolled) so the awning still wraps around where the valence would go and I couldn't use it). My assessment is the sizing is for the electric awning versions that require the extra depth to remain rolled. I considered altering it after the fact but thus far haven't figured it worth the ROI. o This is per my personal purpose... The lightweight fabric probably won't hold up to the severity of weather that my original SunSetter fabric did (and that stood up incredibly to severe thunderstorms so that's a really high bar). o I figure I'll need to buy a new replacement next year, but again, a catch 22 with the price and the fact that after being out so much of the year, it'll be so much easier to replace than clean (even if it does last through the year). So all told, an EXCELLENT choice as long as you keep your expectations within the limits of what it is. ... show more

  • Cheap but has holes in it right out of the box?!?!
Update 3/27/2021: first day we sat out during the day under the new awning. With the sun out I noticed 2 pin holes in the awning about halfway across and halfway up the fabric when extended. Not even sure what or how this would have happened beyond manufacturing but it is obvious during the day. Ok, first off let me reply to the other review about this fabric leaking.....it doesn’t. As soon as I got it and installed it I purposely tested this with a hose since I was going to return it if it did. Perhaps the other reviewer installed it with the different side up than me, not sure (I installed it with the rough seam up so looking up to the awning you see the finished side). That said, I was skeptical of this since I called Awntech to order a replacement fabric and they wanted 670.00!! For fabric on an awning I paid 900for 5years ago...not happening. So I did some research and most places were between 400 and 700. I couldn’t bring myself to spend that much o fabric. Then I found this on Amazon. After thinking about it for a day I figured for 70 bucks it was worth it, even if it wasn’t the same quality as the original. When I got it I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fabric and accessories tubing. I believe it to be better 5an the original fabric in thickness (it was very snug going into the rails. Following the directions it took me all of about an hour to remove the old fabric and install the new one. Excellent deal for the fabric nd, quite frankly, even if I have to buy 1 a year I would still save money for 6years compared to buying the Awntech fabric. ... show more

  • Yes, It is inexpensive but there are a few good reasons for that
Size: 16 x 10 Color: Green
Purchased this material as a replacement for my Sunsetter awning. First, the measurements in the listing are not accurate so you may be better off buying smaller to play it safe. The material is thin but very heavily treated with water repellent. Shows every wrinkle and stain. Poorly stitched in areas and after only a couple of uses the threads begin to show wear. The WORSE part is the FADE. This item has been installed exactly 23 days in PA sun and it is completely washed out and faded. Yes, its cheaply priced but unless you are using this in 100 percent shade and selling the house you installed it on, I would step up and pay the price for a better quality replacement ... show more

  • Good quality fabric and sewing
Size: 20 x 10 Color: Multi-Green
I inherited an old AE Dometic retractable awning off an RV. 21' x 8' and the fabric was torn and useless - but the hardware was in good shape. I ordered this fabric as it was cheap compared to many replacements. I've installed the awning over my patio in my back yard. When I re-wound the springs for the awning, I added 5 extra turns to ensure it would roll up with the extra 2' of depth, and it's perfect. Like I said, the fabric was in great shape and all the seams were well sewn and I did not find any loose threads. It came with two larger plastic splines or threads and two smaller ones. I would purchase this again and will recommend it to any family or friends looking to replace their awning fabric. ... show more

  • Great quality for a great price
I am very happy with this awning. The price was great. The fabric is sturdy and easy to work with. I could not find the exact size I needed, so I cut and sewed this to fit. Super easy to sew! I re-used the original splines to hold it in place, because they were much more sturdy than the ones provided. It's been out in the rain and it's not waterproof, but it does keep most of the rain out. We're using it for a back yard patio shade awning, so rain protection is not an issue. Since it's new, I can't vouch for how well it will hold up to the Florida weather and it's being used on a house I'm selling, so I won't be able to update this in the future. ... show more
