a lot of people do not like the fact that the instructions are very poor. and I can relate to that. However, for the price, for me, that is not an issue. after researching and reading posting after posting, I think it was an easy install. I converted my manual awning to a motorized. my awning is not an Aleko. the tube on my awning is 78mm dia which is about 15 mm bigger than what the aleko motor adapters (driver and crown) were designed for. I had to apply duct tape over the driver and the crown in order to have a nice fit inside the roller tube to make sure the key is engaged properly. It is not a plug and play in my experience but very pleased with the results. I had to play around with it in order to program the remote. but once the remote programming was completed, the limits setup was a breeze. Just bought another one for my other retractable awning.

The motor had burned for years, i did not know you could replace it, took out the old one replaced it with the new one and it work, the awning is like new again

I bought two of these and they work perfectly after about a month. Sure nicer than the daily manual cranking in and out we had been doing. Seems like they have a high gear ratio so move slowly with plenty of torque. My awnings are actually a different brand with a larger diameter tube in which to mount the motor than the Alekos. I carefully made diameter adapters for both ends of the motor for a good snug fit and all seems good. I would not recommend that unless you are good at fabricating. The fixed side of the motor mount fit directly as is. Contrary to some other reviews, there are instructions. Once you get past the typical laughable translations, most of it can be figured out. The limit adjustments are confusing and tweaky, but worked well once I had a handle on it. Before inserting the motor in the tube, I plugged it in and played with the rotation directions and limits. Also, before inserting the motor all the way, be sure that it is in between the limits, i.e. it will turn either direction.

I have purchased an ALEKO 12’x10’ retractable awning plus 2 extra Ceiling Brackets which was a breeze to install, but for several reasons soon enough I realized I needed a motor then I’ve purchased the DM45R; installation was very simple, removed the prior manual mechanism and slide in instead the DM45R, the kit had all the hardware needed, and there was when I run into trouble, trying to adjust the limit switches to open and close. Instructions accompanying the kit are awful, it does not matter how many times you read them, you can’t make sense of it, fortunately the switch for retracting was preset (beginner’s luck); but for the other end it was a different story (I am an obstinate DIY and I either fixed or, break it beyond repair), I research several other brands, all of them lack on details, but the technique was always the same, it took me several hours and mild anger management when the motor finally quit on me due to the overheat protection (nice feature), so I learned to give the motor long breaks to cool down, I kept trying 2 o 3 times a day trying not to overheat the motor, I might have give it over a thousand turns to the setting lug until the third day 15 minutes into the ritual the switch engaged, and now I am a very, very delighted owner of my under $600.- 12’x10’ motorized awning.

There were absolutely no instructions in the box, none 0. Nada. The only thing that was in the box was a warning about the motor in such small print. Without a magnifying glass. Ridiculous. Didn't install it yet. Wonder what's next.

Incredible value for the price ! And it even comes with a remote !! I wasn't sure if it was going to work but the specs were close. If it didn't work I would just send it back to Amazon. This motor fit like a glove and it was very quiet as compared to my old motor. When you install the motor just plug it in. It will not going forward or back. Use the adjustment tool provided and start adjusting the throws forward and reverse. after doing so use the remote. It also comes with a metal rod which can be used to open the awning in case trhe motor burns out or malfunctions. I didn't read the instructions and winged it ! Very happy with the purchase and I wouldn't hesistate for a moment to purchase again or give it a reccomendation. I enclosed some photos to show you the old motor it replaced along with others for comparison....

i was worried about it fitting because I could not find any information or numbers on my awning. Turns out, it is not made for mine however a 3D print later and all is good. I have a 3" (76mm) tube that is bigger than the bushings that comes with the unit. I was able to design and print 3D bushings to fit perfectly. If you have this problem and access to a printer, I can get you the STP file to print a set!

The description incorrectly stated it would fit all awnings however it didn’t fit mine and the company said it only works with their brand. They would not let us return it. Now it was past the 30 days but it was only a couple weeks passed. I explained my mom unexpectedly passed away and we were dealing with a lot and it slipped our mind. They wouldn’t return it because it was passed 30 days. Where does empathy and human decency come in? Will never buy from this seller again.
