This awning kept my room at least 15 to 20° cooler this summer. And we had triple digit days. I put it together myself...the instructions could be a little more forthcoming but it more than paid for itself in just the first few hot days we had. There are issues. First the instructions look like they were put together by someone with disabilities. The frame is just under 3/4" pipe, some type of aluminum I think and no single piece longer than 2 feet in the 8 foot unit.. Then once assembled it sure looks like it will 'belly' or gather water. I had to put PVC 'ribs' in it to take the slack out. That said it's nice looking and the price is decent just be advised that it's probably a temporary solution. >>>>>>>>>>>Adding November 2012. Yes it has color faded BUT I sprayed it a couple coats of a darker green fabric color and it's OK. The replacement cloth doesn't look too expensive so I may just do that next year. ... show more

Easy to assemble. Everyone is right about the canopy fading. Mine is on the shade side of the house and it faded. It has withstood 50 mph wind gusts however. I wish they had a replacement canopy for these. Otherwise the structure is very high quality.

I bought two 8 ft hunter green awnings two different times. Though the awnings hold up very well, they fade within weeks. If this company would only fix this issue, they would have a very good product. I'm tempted to buy them again in a very light color, like beige? Lol

None of the aluminum rods fit into each other. ALL the threads of the rods did not fit each other. The instructions were incorrect, and one of the required rods were missing. This was by far the worst item we have ever purchased on Amazon
