  • Best dye for blues I've found
Color: 174 Sapphire Blue Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 2)
I've tried a few different brands of similar blue dyes, and this is by far the best. The others washed out much faster, and quickly turned green (even when I went purple to try to avoid that). I've kept my hair in varying degrees of blue for a couple years. I've used Baby Blue, Sapphire, and Indigo, and they've all been great. They smell good, don't appear to damage my very fine hair, and as mentioned, last a good while. Note they don't totally wash out, just fade over time. To avoid damage, I don't bleach - I use these directly on my dirty blond hair. They end up darker, of course, but even the Baby Blue covers it just fine without lightening first. As my fine hair gets oily quickly, I wash my hair at least every other day, and a lot of blue will come out in the shower for a week or two, but my hair will still look good for at least a month / month and a half at this rate. Over time I haven't been as persnickety about the dye in my shower either, but it's been coming out ok without a lot of scrubbing. It's also easy to get off white tile, and some sinks (one stains and one doesn't, not sure the difference). Towels, on the other hand, will stay blue, so I only use particular ones on my hair. My only issue is that my roots don't dye well - the color washes out pretty quickly near my scalp. But I'm guessing that's my hair, not anything to do with the dye. I'll use heat for 15 minutes, and leave the dye on my hair for a couple hours covered in a plastic cap and towel to keep it warmer. I'll check every so often to be sure it's not drying, and spritz with water in any areas if so. ... show more

  • Affordable, Vibrant, & Customizable
Color: 072 Paprika Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This was my first time using this brand & I'm so glad I tried it! I started with a very pale yellow (raw bleach level 9-10). I mixed together Paprika & Orange Blaze. I'm obsessed with the results!! The bottles are pretty small. I mixed both full bottles together in a bowl & ended up using the entire mixture. I applied it to dry, clean hair, used a processing cap, & applied heat with a blow dryer as the directions said for about 15-20 minutes before rinsing out with lukewarm water (do not shampoo). It bled A LOT - I rinsed for a solid 10 minutes & the water was still not running clear. I also used a deep conditioner after rinsing because I do not believe this dye has any added bonders or conditioners. The consistency is almost jelly-like, rather than a cream like I am used to, but it mixed together evenly & applied with ease. I love the result of these two shades mixed together! ... show more

  • Love everything about Adore
Color: 155 Titanium Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 2)
I've used several of their colors and I love them! BUT there are some things to know about semi-permanent hair dye, and the first is that the best results will always be over pre-lightened hair (unless your natural color is already really light blond). The same is true for a lot of permanent dyes, too, but it's essential for semi-permanent because there are no harsh chemicals in semi-permanent dyes to lift or alter your natural color. Adore doesn't contain the conditioners that a lot of other dyes do, so most people will find it necessary to condition afterwards; Adore isn't harsh, it's just going to leave your hair with the same feeling you get after using some other products (Ion is my other go-to for fun colors). Think of semi-permanent hair dye like a tint; the longer you leave it on and the more often you use the same color/s, the more saturated your hair is going to become, the more dramatic the tinting, the longer it will tend to last. Some tints are stronger than others (blues, greens, purples.... but especially blues and greens!) After a while, they don't really come out on their own and you'll need to use a lightening process to remove all of the color, especially if you pre-lightened before putting it on. I usually leave it on for a minimum of 4 hours, but often sleep overnight with it on my hair because I've settled on the colors I like and don't plan to switch it up any time soon. Depending on what you're doing to your hair, you may need a toner (or some Titanium Adore) to keep your pre-lightened hair from getting swampy shades. The same holds true for any dye; it's got nothing to do with the brand you use and everything to do with the way hair dye works. Do your own research or talk to a cosmetologist for advice before making drastic changes to your hair color. Speaking specifically of Titanium, I LOVE what it does to my natural, blah-brown/grey hair. I get a mostly grey/silver not-blah color. I use several shades of blues over the lower part of my hair which has been pre-lightened, and treated with so much blue Adore that I barely have to touch it up anymore, because blue dyes in general tend to saturate and stick around (but will also fade fast in sunlight, so wear a hat in summer.... which is probably good advice, anyway ;-) ) ... show more
