This item will be installed next week (I can't do it myself, due to injuries, so had to hire someone). I assembled it myself. Once installed, and given some time, I will update this review. It's very nice looking and less expensive than installing a skylight over my front door area. It IS overpriced for being mostly plastic, but the side brackets are made of hard plastic and seem solid enough, and the end brackets are coated or painted metal (their uncoated silver edges can be seen at each end). ASSEMBLY CONS: 1) There are no pilot holes for the screws (appear self-tapping) that are indicated should be driven through the top of the canopy brackets at both ends into the metal brackets in the illustration but not in the text, and no instructions about drilling pilot holes for them or a specific position (just a basic location shown in the illustration). The possibility of cracking the hard plastic brackets and not penetrating the metal brackets has left me hesitant to use those screws. 2) The plastic sheeting sides are different measurements (approx. 36.75" x 37.5") and there's no indication in the instructions as to which edge gets installed in which bracket. I finally just figured it out when I couldn't get the side brackets installed with the sheeting in place the first time. My sheet fit with its "ribbing" parallel with the side brackets, but it's possible another sheet would fit differently. 3) The instructions (text and illustration) for the single canopy doesn't indicate that both types of screws are used on both ends of the brackets; HOWEVER, the illustration in the instructions for two or more canopies shows the locale where these screws should be inserted, but again, no pilot holes or accurate position shown. 4) The instructions (text and illustration) do not show how the back bracket should be positioned. It's basically an L shape, and the illustration does not show the L part of the bracket showing at all, so it's assumed that it points downwards. This is not the case, since the bracket will only fit into the side brackets with the L part positioned pointing upward (after trial and error). 5) The anchors (they're inside the end brackets) do not expand with the provided screws (approx. 0.75"), which are too short to cause expansion. Therefore, just by lifting the item using the side rails, they easily came out along with the anchors still attached to the screws. Either the anchors should be fixed inside the bracket so they're immoveable OR longer screws should be provided. I ended up replacing them with approx. 1.25" dry wall screws that are the same width. The side brackets stayed in place even after given several tugs. After researching this type of canopy (various sellers), I found that several of those sellers suggest that, once assembled, seal around the inside of all of the brackets with clear silicone caulk to prevent leaks and keep everything from shifting. This is not suggested by this seller or in the instructions, and may not be necessary due to the channeling nature of the brackets; however, it might be wise to use clear silicone caulk between the rear bracket and the wall against which it's installed. I did note that there's a hole in the side brackets about halfway down, where I can see through to the sheeting. There doesn't seem to be a purpose for them, and It's possible that water could leak off of the sheeting through those holes. I plan to plug those holes with waterproof tape, caulk or putty, just in case. Again, I will update this review some time after installation.
