This is an almost 16-foot rectangular-shaped sunshade for patios/decks and is very easy to assemble. The hand crank makes this easy to extend and retract. The mechanism to expand and retract the shade is one of the smoothest we have ever had. The pole/support is very durable and thick enough not to have to always worry that any breeze will cause the shade to topple. The canvas material of the shade blocks a good amount of the sun while allowing enough light through that you don't feel like you are sitting in a cave. I can't comment on the waterproof abilities of the canvas since we treated it before its first use, more out of habit than anything. The larger size of the sunshade is great for those with a large table, and its big enough to protect your entire family from the sun. When not in use, this folds up to a small enough size to make storing away a breeze. My wife and I had some arguments over which color to order, as she wanted the Cerulean and I wanted something that wouldn't stand out so much and would be easier to match any patio furniture we got. In the end, we settled on the Beige shade and are very happy with how well it goes with the furniture we already had and what we are slowly adding. I have to say I love the *look* of this umbrella. It's huge, the fabric (I got the navy blue) feels sturdy, and it really does assemble pretty easily. The issue I have is that because of the design, you're kind've forced to use the provided base. Rather than just dropping into a round hole like most other bases, this is a square fixture that needs to be attached to the base. Which leads to the other problem... The fixture on the bottom for mounting to the stand, and the rivet on the other end of the pole that won't fit through a standard umbrella hole in a table. At least none of my tables. You'll either need to use this as a standalone umbrella, or widen the hole in your table. Given the design of the base, I'm not sure how well this would do in any sort of wind if using without a table, but I'm speculating and can't take a star off for that yet. The hand crank seems a little flimsy... There's a lot of movement in it when cranking, so I suggest treating it with kid gloves to prolong it's life. I was able to get it to "lock" where I wanted it to, but it felt like I had to put more pressure on it that seems necessary. It also wobbles a bit where the poles connect above the table, so, again, some durability questions. But, I will admit that this does look nice, and if you have 2.25" or better holes in your table, this will work great on an uncovered patio or permanent camp site. Providing it lasts more than two or three seasons.

Need a single patio umbrella large enough for the space you've got? You need this one, because it's HUGE! Yes, it's advertised as being large, but it's difficult to truly understand what that means until you open it up in your yard. It's built like three joined patio umbrellas, and yet it's still just as easy to open. The construction is great and ensures smooth operation when you're ready to open or close it. Assembling it wasn't difficult once I realized what was needed. I didn't expect it to come with a base, so I was trying to fit it into a stone table I've got. However, due the flatness of the bottom-most pole, it won't fit into a standard umbrella hole unless you go up from under the table, and that's difficult to do with a stone table. So, I had to assemble the base so the umbrella could stand on its own. This isn't meant to move around like other umbrellas, not if you're using the base. You add sand to the base, but there is no bottom, so the sand would just fall through if you try to pick it up. The base has a cover that's pretty nice, and there are two large unfilled sandbags included in the box, so that's also nice. It does not come with a cover, which is common, but a normal patio umbrella fits OK. A bit tight, but not too bad. I will have to adjust my planned use for the umbrella, but I still really like it.

This is a good size umbrella for covering a long table. The built in base is nice but I'm not sure on the execution. We'll see how it holds up over time. It's basically sand bags to hold down the cross bars and then surrounded by a wire style frame. I suppose you could not assemble the base and use some right sized pavers to hold down the cross bars. We'll see how it goes and if I need to figure out a better solution.

This is so much better over a standard round umbrella just for the size alone. There were so many colors to choose from and I love the color I picked. It feels like summer on my deck already. This is one sturdy well built umbrella and it even took a little flight over my deck before I had the chance to fill the sandbags even on the stand so I do recommend having the extra weight on the stand before putting it up completely even with the umbrella unopened. It was completely unharmed and opening was just as smooth. The size covers the whole length of rectangle table providing a lot of shade. The opening with the handle was really smooth as well. I'll be spending a lot of time under this umbrella this summer. Recommended purchase!
