Bought this to go over top of a garage side door as the garage roof has no gutters. I give it five stars because it does the job and stays together well enought for mounting even though it is "tricky" to assemble. I did not use the supplied bolts for mounting it to the garage as they just don't work for our installation. I used threaded exterior wood bolts. It will requie 4 hands to mount to get the first two bolts up. As it is light weight, the second pair of hands can leave after it is "temprorarily" mounted. It does NOT leak. ... show more

I cut a door in a shipping container (see pic) and used this awning to keep the rain away. I gave the product a five start review because of the low price, its ease of installation and being lightweight, it's easy to install. I installed the awning myself, with no help whatsoever, although a second pair of hands would've come handy. I basically put the awning together on the ground and used bungie cords to keep it together. After installing and tightening all the screws, I tied two ropes at both ends of the awning to lift it in place. Once in place, I drilled the holes through the wall and used bolts, nuts and washers to secure the awning to the wall. Note that you must attach one awning bracket to the wall at a time to make sure everything aligns properly. You can either first attach one corner bracket and then the center bracket before attaching the last remaining bracket. Or you can first attach the center bracket and then the two corner brackets. Because of the shipping container structural design, there was a 1/2 inch gap at the top, between the awning and the shipping container wall. I used roofing tape to seal the gap. It worked well to prevent leaks and it's almost invisible from the ground. I must say that although the awning itself feels flinzy before installation, it feels very sturdy once it's attached to the wall. Don't know how long it'll last but I'm very satisfy with the purchase. ... show more

Arrives quickly, fairly easy to assemble. Best to have a helper to attach to home. Provides rain coverage and sun shade for doorways. The frame brackets are nice quality, the roof panels are inexpensive at best but do the job. Hardware included. Not positive that roof panels will last more than 1 season. We shall see. Cost is fair. I was really hoping this would work for my side door on my house because the rain goes right off the roof to the steps, which is not only loud, but you cannot even open the door without getting wet. The install is not perfect, as I was only able to utility two of the bolt holes, but it feels very sturdy and I am happy with it overall. I also like how the unit comes with covers fot the bolts that match the rest of the support beams. I had to seal off a small opening with silicone between the awning and roof where water could still drip through, but after that, it looks and functions great. ... show more

Difficult to put together and pretty flimsy. You get what you pay for I guess. We put it up in our patio and as we were installing it, one of the sections came out of its channel and now there is a gap that rain can get through because the design is poor and it doesn’t hold together well.We would have to take the whole thing down and pop the pieces together in hopes that they stay when reinstalling, but for right now my husband doesn’t want to deal with it because it was such a pain to get up in the first place. ... show more

Seemed like for years these and every other awning I saw on Amazon was unavailable. Also often checked local stores but per usual, you just cannot find things in Hawaii. So finally, they were in stock and at a decent price on Amazon. I ordered 2 sets. I set things in motion with a carpenter to install them. All good, then one set arrives and the other is untrackable. Ok, slight delay. Not the fault of the product or manufacturer, just how business by mail goes. Once everything was here, there was significant planning and shopping to do. These awnings are not designed for single wall structures. You've never heard of single wall? It was the most common construction mode for houses in Hawaii until the 1980's. Gotta say, it's wonderful and perfect for the tropics though deemed not hurricane safe. But what is? Anyway, the screws included in these sets are for brick or masonry or something else we don't use here so I had to buy wood screws. Also had to install 8' lengths of 1"x8" boards to screw the awnings to. These were glued and screwed above the windows. Of course they had to be primed and painted first. Then the assembly of the awnings. I had watched the video and read the instructions so I got it started. In this 78" set, there are 2 panels connected by an "H bar." They do not simply slide in easily as they seem to in the video. They've got to be coaxed and inched along. Watch out for the very sharp corners and edges of the panels because you will be stuck and sliced easily! The H Bar is very wobbly and has to be held perfectly straight, though it really wants to bend, in order to get the panels in. Then a "discussion" with my carpenter who wanted to put the frame all together first and then somehow insert the panels. What could I do? I let him figure out that would not work and we were able to finish the assembly. Because there is a center support that must be attached to the wall, it could not be placed at the top of the window, but had to be placed 10" above the window. Ten inches is the length of the back end of the brackets. It would have been more useful to have the awning portion initiate at the top of the window as this would give more coverage to block rain. My carpenter doubted they would do much of that and he was not pleased with the quality of the awnings. They are flimsy plastic and the panels insert only about 1/2" into the brackets so gusts of wind may just blow them apart. He did end up putting in additional screws where there was no hole pre-drilled to reinforce the frame. In summary, $200 for product, $100 for extra materials (wood, wood glue, wood screws) and $300 for one day of the carpenter, came to $600 for a not-quite-right result, not terribly effective rain protection that may blow down in a few months. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I had doubts because of some comments I read. However, everything turned out well. It looks and feels pretty solid. It will surely withstand strong winds. My only observation is that I couldn't adapt the metal plugs that come with it to the wall, so I had to change them for plastic plugs. I attach a video of how it turned out. ... show more
