  • Product is wonderful
Color: Black Size: 79"x38"
Sturdy when assembled, looks good over the door and adds a rain barrier which it was intended for. I bought this for some one and the entire family loves having it up!

  • Understand the value. 4 year review
Color: White Size: 40"x40"
Firstly, the original price for this item was decent which made it a great value. The current price is more than I am willing spend. To install over existing vinyl clapboard siding, I made two Azec boards, scribed to the profile and used heavy toggle bolts through the vinyl and plywood sheathing. Unless you can get the bolts to land on studs, lag bolts and the provided anchor bolts are useless. The awning collects a ton of dirt and debris and you can't rely on the tape around the polycarbonate sheet to prevent water and dirt ingress. I drilled 1/8" holes along the bottom edge in the aluminum bar to allow the awning to drain rapidly. After 4 years, the awning has held up well but the polycarbonate panel has yellowed and is brittle. You can by 4x8' panels at Lowe's or home depot but at an enormous cost (>$200). I got a white 4mm Coroplast panel for $30 and cut it to size... we'll see how it holds up. This is usually referred to as "plastic cardboard" or "sign board". One note, do not expect this awning to stop falling acorns or icicles. The panel is far too thin. It does hold a tremendous amount of snow and is surprisingly resilient to wind. • A nice product with some drawbacks
Color: White Size: 119"x39"
The product arrived with some minor blemishes. We used the included screws on our stucco wall without any issue. Learning from other reviewers, I decided to assemble the whole awning (120” long) then kept it nice and straight on the floor. I also used a strap to hold the whole thing together. After that, I used clear fast-drying adhesive caulking along both sides of the panels to seal the water as well as to give the structure more holding power. While waiting for the caulking to dry, I carefully measured and drilled 8 holes on the wall above the covered area. Once the caulking was cured, with some helpers, we lifted the awning into position and started to loosely tighten all 8 screws. Once all the screws were in properly, I started tighten them in one at a time. At this time the awning felt much more rigid and strong. Some minor flaws: 1) Only the very first installed panel you can use the screws to tighten both the left and the right sides of the panel next to the bracket. This is the strongest configuration. If your awning is two or more panels, you can only screw in one side of the panel thereafter. For this reason, I used the strap and adhesive caulking to help holding the awning structure together before screwing it to the wall. 2) If your wall is uneven, like my stucco wall, the outside edge of the awning may not look straight. My 120” configuration only used 4 brackets so there was one left. In the end, the awning looks nice and sturdy. I hope it will last many years to come. ... show more

  • Instructions are abysmal.
Color: Gray Size: 79"x38"
The installation instructions are so bad, it would be better they didn’t provide any. Basic things like, remove the protective plastic sheets before assembly, isn’t there. When joining the panels together, spray them with glass cleaner or water, or it will bind and you can’t get to fit in the splice joints. It’s actually easier to put together if you don’t look at the crap instructions and use your instincts. ... show more

  • Well - these were Interesting - but we like them
Color: White Size: 40"x40"
In short - they work - they look nice! Why not 5 stars? Please continue reading. We bought 3 of these with the intent to span across french doors with a little over-hang on ea side to keep rain away from the door frame itself. Our user-experience was as follows: - Fully assembled 1st awning (recommended from experience) - Mounted (with an assistant - this is important!) - The other 2 awnings slid inside of ea preceding support arm as designed. In other words, ea support arm is double-sided (grooved) to support an awning sheet on either side (there is no L/R sides to the support arms - which is simple). - Note1: Full assembly means 2 support arms, 1 plastic awning sheet, 2 aluminum strips and respective screws to hold in place. All included in ea box, ea awning is individually packaged as a complete set. - Note2: The mounting-hardware includes masonry bolts (for brick, concerete, etc) so you will need to invest in your own screws or bolts (being mindful to use flat shaped heads on screws/bolts or a 'washer' to achieve the same (this will prevent splitting the plastic from tapered screw heads. just as 1 example there). We mounted into a wooden frame on home (no masonry in our use-case). Note3: We caulked inside the mounting arms where the sheet inserts. There is no 'seal' here but we did not test either -- just made an assumption and ensured no leakage by caulking on our own. Note4: It took us about 45 mins to mount these up - not too bad considering a couple challenges from the island of 'cheap designs' ; ) Pros: - Lower Cost (compared to others!!!). Very affordable to get a usable end-result. - They look pretty nice if you get them up their as designed. - *Designed to be easily assembled (good). More on this below. - They do the advertised job (for us). We will buy again. - The UV protective feature (extent is unknown) is a sure positive! Cons: - Lower Cost does not imply fair-cost (IMHO). Shouldn't cost more than $25 (again, IMHO). However, it was the most affordable option at this time **The corrugated plastic awning sheet is not much stronger than its equivalent of cardboard! They are flimsy and not very strong at all. It is the combination of the two aluminum strips (front/rear respectively) and the mounting arms that give them some strength. So, its working fine (for now). - The packaging is super-POOR for shipping. Probably fine on a store shelf but if Fedex or UPS is delivering yours, expect to need to correct aluminum strips being a bit overly compressed (thus near impossible to insert the plastic awning as was designed to be easy minus shipping). - The plastic awnings arrived with the edges a bit rough. Had to pinch with fingers to bend into position (it does not hold position well) and use scissors or knife blade while inserting into mounting arms. Two were a challenge one was perfect (less impacted from shipping). - The aluminum strip (rear) has an edge on it that is a couple millimeters too long - thus preventing insertion into the mounting arms. We had to take pliers and break two of the edges off, the 1st awning we just left the rear aluminum strip completely off. * Note: The aluminum strips most certainly should remain in place (front & rear) if you expect the awning sheet to not warp later from sun or wind and pop out of the mounts. Do use the provided hardware as designed. We simply made a suitable custom option in its place - again, worked. ... show more
