I wondered how these would do in a storm considering they are made of plastic. I didn't have to wait long, hurricane Ian came through Tampa a couple of weeks later. While we did not get the direct hit as expected, we did experience very high winds and lots of downed trees and limbs. All of my awnings survived entact! I hung a single awning over the front and back doors and a double on the side of the house. While the singles help, the double is much better. Rain splashes the ground next to the door and rain blows in from the side. Having the extra coverage over the side of the door helps a lot. My suggestion is to make the single door awning wider, at least six inches on each side as standard measurement. Also, a runoff channel at the end so you don't have to walk under a waterfall. It is not that bad, but would certainly be better with a water diverter. My house is stucco so the awning doen't have a tight fit against the house, a little caulk takes care of it. Easy to assemble and hang by your self. Provides good shade and rain blockage. Read the fine print, is not 40” wide. Hanging over a 36” window frame they are about 1” wider on each side making them approximately 38” wide.

These awnings are simple to assemble and install and look outstanding! I do wish they were a tad bit wider, because with the moulding and trim on a standard 36" door, they simply don't fit. Need to install ABOVE the door frame, not "hug" it. BUT...regardless....they look clean, simple and amazing. Now let's see how well they hold up! BTW..I had a need to contact customer service and was beyond thrilled that the person who answered was actually a native english speaker, so there was absolutely no paraphrasing of ... show more

They've finally been installed and experienced their first rain. I'm dry and no water blowing into the house under the doors. Little bit hard to install over vinyl siding. However, it's done and sealed with silicone caulking.
