To be honest, I can't comment about the umbrella itself yet, although the base is sturdy and wonderful, and the umbrella itself is gorgeous. However, it came with a broken part which made it unusable, and a replacement is on the way. I am writing this review now because Livia, the customer representative I have been dealing with, has been very wonderful: she has been super-polite and responsive, which is no small thing because she is far away in China. I write to her when it is early in the morning here, and she responds when it is early there, and it has worked. If the new part is as good as the service, then I will come back and add to this review. It is coming by USPS, so it might take a minute. Everything I have seen so far suggests that it will be great, and for customer service alone, I recommend Bluu. Thanks to Livia! ... show more

We saw one of these umbrellas at a friend's house. They said it was well made, and easy to open and close . . . and we could see that. And it had lasted a long time for them. So we got one ourselves and it's really great. We're very happy with the color we chose and it opens up so easily. It's so nice not to have to be struggling to push up on those old umbrellas. It opens up beautifully out over the seating area, looks great, and closes just as easily if the wind kicks up. It is a beautiful umbrella, and family and friends have raved about it when they visit. We loved the umbrella and it wasn't super hard to assemble. We got 2 months use out of it and this morning came out and found exploded broken plastic all over the deck and a big gaping hole in the crank joint of the umbrella. There was no wind last night, it looked like the tension of the joint where the support cord rolls up just failed and blew apart. We got one month the end of last summer, stored it and got less than one month this summer. We won't be buying from this company again. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I really like this umbrella. It's sturdy, it's beautiful, and it was easy to put together. The price is very reasonable for what appears to be a very well made product. The only issue I have, and honestly I feel like an idiot because I think maybe I'm missing something obvious, is that I can't figure out how to properly use the little strap to secure the umbrella to the pole to reduce swaying. The velcro tabs seem to be on the wrong side of the strap. To get them to connect I have to twist the strap. Once twisted and connected, there's still so much excess room that the strap doesn't seem to do much, even in a gentle breeze. If I could give it 4.9 stars, I would. I really do love it. But it's not quite perfect. ... show more

I love this umbrella - good quality, great price, and a deep rich blue color. A few things to consider when making your buying decision: (1) I planned to use a very good iron base umbrella holder (50 lbs of iron) that I already owned, but discovered that this cantilever umbrella required that a special base be used. That was because the pole of the new umbrella has a permanent pin that must fit into the base, you can not just slide the new pole into a simple base pole. Also the required base weighs 100 lbs when assembled, which is probably a good idea since a lot of pressure is placed on the supporting structure (fortunately the four required base elements can be filled with water or sand - I used water - and can then be easily drained for storage). (2) The stitching on the umbrella wrapping strap was poorly done and was coming unraveled when I first closed and wrapped the umbrella. This is a small thing that I fixed by hand stitching with some heavier button thread. I don't see any other issues with stitching on the umbrella. These things said I still love the umbrella. A further plus, a free gift card for an umbrella cover was included with the unit I received (it wasn't in exchange for any positive reviews). I needed to request the cover through a text message, and it arrived within about 10 days -- I haven't tried using it yet, it's in a tan and brown color and looks very substantial. ... show more

2nd UPDATE: 6/15/23 I should have been more patient! Customer service reached out to me and was EXCEPTIONALLY great! Since they could not repair the umbrella, they sent a replacement! Wow! We are so very appreciative! Than you so very much for helping us and standing by your commitment to excellence! UPDATE: 6/2/23 I originally purchased this umbrella due to the amazing reviews regarding the durability of the umbrella and Bluu’s customer service. Unfortunately, an integral screw which keeps the umbrella from swinging bent rendering it unusable. I understand things happen, but after emailing Bluu (because you can’t call since they discontinued customer service phonecalls) we have had no resolution. We will continue to email them and hope for a replacement so we can enjoy this weather outside. I LOVE my Bluu umbrella! I researched literally hundreds of patio umbrellas and after reading thousands of reviews chose the Bluu Banyon. I couldn’t be happier. It is sturdy, doesn’t fade, easy to assemble, great in windy, rainy/weather, and offers wide protection from the sun! I am so happy I did my research! AWESOME!
