  • Works, but no instructions . . .
I installed this safety valve on a vintage PC 2340 Universal 4 qt pressure cooker to replace the failed one. It comes with no instructions for installation, which shouldn't be a problem, but is equipped with a washer that was not present on the old one that was removed. I installed the washer on the outside of the lid, in the normal arrangement between bolt, washer and nut, only to find that it leaked that way. Tried tightening it down super tight, still no joy. Removed the washer and cinched it down well and it sealed up as it should. Upon further examination, I noticed that the washer may work as a spacer on the inside of the lid, since getting a good hold with a wrench on that side, without stripping the hex head, is difficult as it sits into a recessed area. I'm leaving it as is for now, since it's working again, but if you run into a problem tightening things down sufficiently, you might try using the washer as a spacer on the inside of the lid. Be careful because after a few failed tries to tighten things down, the hex head can easily round over, making it very difficult to get a good hold with a wrench. Subtracted one star for lack of instructions. ... show more

  • Keeps the Hawkins pressure cookers lasting forevet
This is a fairly specialized product so not a lot of people will read it. I have a number of pressure cookers. All of the Hawkins models I have were thrift store finds. One was in good shape (and is induction-cooker compatible) but it had a blown safety fuse. I was surprised to see that replacement fuses were available for Hawkins cookers on Amazon and the best deal was where I could buy three for just a bit more than a single one seemed to cost. I used one to replace the blown fuse on the cooker I found at the thrift store, which now works like new. I can't recall ever having a pressure cooker fuse blown me in the past (I'm quite careful when I use a pressure cooker) but if I run across more Hawkins models in the future, I now know that I can repair them easily and inexpensively. ... show more

  • Easy to install
We tried this on Hawkins cooker with 1.5L size and this was easy to install but this does not comes with any manual so one may need to look online for steps. When we tried the first one, it broke in first usage, not sure if we fit it incorrectly but the second one is working fine.

  • Worked fine on my 3 liter cooker!
Got this to replace the valve in my 3-liter Hawkin cooker. Worked fine. My 2 cents below: Pros: - Well built overall. Finishing looks good - Worked fine with my 3-liter pressure cooker and is supposed to work with any sized Hawkins cooker - Seems sturdy and would last long - Reasonably priced pressure cooker for a set of 3 valve Cons: - No direction provided along with the product on how to replace the cooker valve ... show more

  • Original. From the manufacturer in India. Good to have spares on hand when you need.
Have these on hand since they are mailed from India. If I can remember correctly, it took about 10 days to get mine. If you own Hawkins pressure cookers, you will need these at some point, about every 2-ish years of heavy daily use. So you might as well get a few spare and keep them somewhere that won't get lost. You will need a dab of silicone to make the seal again. I used automotive silicone because that's what I had on hand and it sealed up tight. I put the dab of silicone on the outside side of the lid, not on the food side. You might have an issue tightening this back up (the screw and bolt type assembly) because it is very low profile. But this is how Hawkins makes these so just be aware of that your wrench and socket will have to work for low profile. You don't want to round the screw heads off making it impossible to remove. Also, if you use Hawkins pressure cookers for years, and I've had mine for 5 years now, you might as well get replacement lid rubber gaskets that run along the lid. Just have them on hand. They aren't that expensive. Mine haven't broken but also have these the same place I have the replacement safety valves. ... show more
