I loved the result
Color: 5N Lightest Neutral Brown
I bought shade 5N and was initially a little disappointed because the first time I used it, I followed the instructions and left it on for only 20 minutes. I was afraid it would turn too dark, but unfortunately it didn’t cover my gray hairs at all. I don’t have many gray hairs, but the few I do have were still visible after 20 minutes. Later, I talked to my hairstylist, and she explained that since this product is ammonia-free, it may need more processing time to properly cover gray hair. So the second time, I left it on for 40 minutes, and it worked so much better! The gray hairs were nicely covered, the color looked natural, and it also added a beautiful shine to my hair. I’m very happy with the result and would definitely buy it again.

BEWARE OF NEGATIVE REVIEWS!

For any reviews claiming the product did not change their hair color, please note they did NOT add developer to their color. Others left reviews that it was not stated on the item page that developer was needed. That is also inaccurate, and I have attached a photo here from the actual product photos. The negative reviews are coming from people that are not familiar with the product, or coloring their own hair. Wella is a fantastic hair product, and one of the best! I have been using it for decades and will continue to do so! Just make sure you understand color theory before choosing your color!

Cover Grays: Let it process for 40 min
Color: 5N Lightest Neutral Brown
I read the other comments about covering grays. I have about 1/3 gray hair near the roots (2-3 inches) and need gentle coloring options. The point is to let it process on the hair for 40+ min instead of only 20 min since it’s 10 volume developer. It covered 99% of my grays and gives the rest of the hair lots of shine.

Darker than expected

Results were darker than expected. Go by the picture & the color swatch, not the description! I purchased lightest neutral brown, but my results are dark brown. I liked the product itself, next time I will go a shade or 2 lighter to get the desired result.

Solved My Grey Coverage Issue, Less Damage Than Permanent Color
Color: 5N Lightest Neutral Brown
I use 5N with a 10 vol creme developer, mixing 1:1, and it effectively covers my grey hair without needing touch-ups more often than permanent haircolor. My line of demarcation, when I can see new growth, looks more blended than it did with permanent color with 20 vol developer. Parts of my hair are nearly 100% grey now, and I have found that mixing 1:1 rather than 2:1 works best for me. My hair is less damaged since changing to this product. I always thought I needed ammonia in permanent haircolor to cover all my grey, but I don't. This blends it all with dimension. It doesn't look harsh and unnatural, like shoe polish, as some darker shades on an older person can. I'm in my 50s and started going grey at 14, so I've tried a lot of different things over the years. This is the answer for me. I'll use this from now on, as long as I have hair.

Great for covering grays without damaging hair
