Description

The Tier1 Salt-Free Descaler Water Conditioning System will protect your home from scale buildup using TAC scale prevention media. Hard water causes scale to build up in your homes plumbing and appliances causing them to wear out more quickly. Pipes clogged with scale can lose water pressure over time, and water heaters full of scale are extremely inefficient because the scale blocks the heat from getting to the water making the water heater run more often to keep the water hot. It is important to note that while a Salt-Free Descaler / Water Condition can be used as a Softener Alternative it will not soften water or remove the minerals that cause hard water. However, unlike a water softener, TAC conditioned water is able to dissolve away existing scale from your plumbing, doesn't require salt, and doesn't require regenerations. Upflow systems are extremely reliable and low maintenance, because the system uses a simple In/Out head and there are no moving parts to break. As long as incoming water is kept within the system parameters the filter will function until media exhaustion, at which time the media can be replaced without having to throw away the system. Replacement media costs a fraction of the price of a new system making upflow systems even more cost effective in the long run.

Don't waste your money! It doesn't work to change the taste of the water nor does it help with residue and calcium buildup on the pipes! And I also wasted a lot of money which I won't get back because of cost of plumbing! THIS WAS 1ST REVIEW:To be fair, I'm not sure any of these types of elements work. I had another one previously and it seemed to have a minor effect on less toilet bowl scum, but certainly not shiny and clean. The previous unit did a better job than this unit. The other unit they took back, but it still cost me a $150 extra to put this one in. It was a simple installation. Save your money! It doesn't seem to work. Oh! I forgot to mention that it does leave a white dust on the bottom of a pan I use to heat water. This is probably the calcium and other minerals it combines with, but if I am getting this in my body, I don't think it would be absorbable. ... show more

I installed this as part of a whole-house system. It is installed after the 5 ppm particulate filter (the first filter in the system) but before the carbon block filter. I probably could have gone either way as far as installing this before or after the carbon block, and I wasn't really sure which was best. Luckily, this will outlast the other filters in the system by a factor of 3-5x, so the investment is a good one, if only for the time saved changing filters, lol. I installed as the instructions said to and after two weeks still no soft water it test keep saying we have real hard water. And it came with approximately 3’ tall canister and only one little bag of silica beads that maybe was an eighth of what could go in it.
