  • Easy to install. Perfect water!
Style: PH90
This was so easy to install. It took me maybe 15 minutes? This unit stands alone so you don’t have to mount it to the wall. You can, but I left mine free standing as I think it will be easier to change the filters for me. The water is fantastic. I love this unit. So nice to have RO water again. I only gave it five stars because I couldn’t find 7. ... show more

  • Tastes better then bottled, and the 5 gallon jugs I go pickup.
Style: PH90
Remodeled the kitchen and had the plumber install this for me (so I can't speak of the installation part), but oh man. I flushed the tank once like the instructions said, and this is the best tasting water I've ever had. I live in a good sized city and I've got this hooked up straight from the tap, where it then leads to a faucet we installed in the countertop for room temperature water and another one leading to my fridge to make ice and get cold water. Super excited I won't have to go drive and fill up my 5 gallon jugs every couple days anymore! ... show more

  • It actually does increase the PH, and tastes great!
Style: PH90
I have purchased and installed many APEC RO water systems as everyone who come to my house tries my water and loves it. I then show them how easy it is to install one and many do. Prior to this system I owned their 90 GPD system without the PH add back feature. I suffer from chronic acid reflux, and found research that shows that regular RO (lower PH) water can actually trigger stomach acid production, so I switched to bottled alkaline water and found that sure enough, I saw an improvement. I was bummed that I was going to have to buy bottled water, and not just have it on tap in my house so I went in search of alkaline water at home and found this. Sure enough it is great, but I do have a few notes if you are replacing an older RO system with this one. Prior to installing this system my APEC RO water was reading at an alkalinity of around 5.5 as measured using a meter purchased here on amazon. After tinstalling the new system, it is currently reading at around 9.5, which is competitive with most "alkaline" bottled water. I am so happy with this. As far as install, this system uses a 1/4 inch apec line for output to the faucet, and in all other places where the other (at least the older) 90 GPD system uses a 3/8 inch line. This worries me a bit as I may not see the same strong flow-through I had with the other system. Perhaps more importantly, it means that install is a bit tricky if you want to leverage the old lines, particularly the line to the faucet and tank. You will likely need at least on 3/8 to 1/4 inch reducer fitting, two if you plan to use the old tank. I believe the "waste" line on the old system already used 1/4 inch so you should be fine there. One other note is that the seals on the inside of the filter containers seems to pinch easily compared to the old system. Double check that they are seated properly before screwing on the container, and be careful not to over-tighten. Ultimately I am very pleased as everything comes with the quality I expect from APEC and I am very happy. ... show more

  • Overall - so far - seams to be a good filter
Style: PH90
First, let me compliment APEC for manual actually written in comprehensible English rather than Chinese using English alphabet as it usually is the case! Another nice touch: the water supply adapters fit my setup perfectly, did not need to run to a hardware store. Why four stars? One o'ring for the water supply fitting was missing. Fortunately, I have an assortment of AC o'rings I always have on hand. The pressure tank valve was leaking, had to add an o'ring (wasn't originally there) AND apply teflon tape just in case. No other issues. After installation, checked water quality, was disappointed - it's 134 PPM vs 104 PPM without filter. Am attributing this to the fact that the filters are not yet full/soaked and, therefore, the system is not fully functional. If that doesn't change to the better, will update the review and adjust score accordingly. Update: after one day, PPM dropped to 13. ... show more

  • Best Instruction Manual Ever
Style: PH90
~1-year update So I changed out my filters. I hesitated to buy this product because our town's water quality reports always had great numbers. Still... worried about PFAs and such, I went ahead. Well look what I found! The picture with the filter in the housing is the sediment filter after a year of use. The next picture compares the old sediment filter with the new one. The three filter picture shows you the three filters I replaced. Water hits them from right to left. You can see that by the time the water gets to the third filter, it's in good shape because that third filter is still pretty white. The bottom line is that, even with good water, there's plenty of muck to filter out before you drink. ============================================= So I just installed this system and it's too early to give you any information on how it performs over time, but what I can say without hesitation is that the instruction manual is the best such manual I have ever read and used in 30 years of DIY homeownership. I've done all sorts of things. I pull my own permits, I've installed appliances, done framing, bought tons of tools, and more. It's been a non-stop passion of mine for decades. After all of that, this is really, honestly, the best manual I've ever read. Well-indexed, plain language, plenty of useful diagrams, written for somebody with no experience and handy for somebody with lots. This is no small thing. If you're wondering whether or not you can handle this, rest assured that you'll have plenty of guidance. Just set aside plenty of time, take your time, and do what the manual says to do, step-by-step, without skipping anything or jumping ahead. The equipment itself seems top-notch and all things were supplied and worked as they should have. Be careful unpacking as there are some small parts that could get away from you. I installed my system in my basement, just below the sink in the kitchen on my first floor. It would have been handy to have an extra couple of feet of tubing for that, but I had enough. I also installed a water pressure meter on the feed line. There are plenty of inexpensive tubing accessories that you can get. I got a variety pack and added a couple of elbows and what not to get a cleaner installation. So my hat's off to this company. I got an expensive system, but feel it was money well spent. ... show more

  • Look no further at this price point!
Style: PH90
This is my second RO-PH90 system. Simply one of the best systems on the market, in my opinion. Uses genuine Dow filmtec reverse osmosis membrane. As anyone familiar with RO knows, filmtec membranes are the gold standard and rank among the elite in rejection rates. This is not your generic RO bought in a hardware store, although some large chains carry it. Input TDS = ~225 ppm, output TDS = ~15-20ppm. Does the job. Have not tested PH yet. Water tastes great as it does with my first system. Change your pre filters once per year or at the recommended %TDS interval and expect this RO membrane to last its full schedule of 3-5 years. This is very important. Incoming water pressure must be at least 50psi in my opinion, for this system to operate as intended. At 75psi, outgoing pressure is like a dream, even with 1/4'' stock tubing. Fills glasses quickly. Consider the 3/8" output upgrade if your input pressure hovers at 50psi as it did with my first unit. RO systems thrive on incoming water pressure, this is the most important aspect of setup! Do not skip! Simple setup as usual, although this time I needed a booster pump, incoming was 40psi at best. Remember, it can fluctuate significantly during high demand/peak times. Plan a few hours for someone not so mechanically inclined. John Guest quick connect fittings are painless. Manual is very thorough, follow each step carefully and no problems should arise. If they do, customer support is USA based and very helpful. Download and read the manual available on their website before purchasing so you know what items and skill level are required. Anyone with a few tools and willful attitude will have zero problems. Easily found an Aquatec CDP6800 kit on Ebay for $108 that is perfect for this system. Came with all needed lines, pressure gauge, shutoff solenoid, pressure switch, pump and transformer. Make sure to have a sediment filter before the pump if you want it to last. Of course, APEC also offers a version pre outfitted with either permeate or booster pump although you will need your own gauge I believe. If planning on wanting 3/8" output upgrade for PH model, please go directly though APEC to purchase with it pre installed. Do not buy the output kit here on Amazon and expect it to fit the PH filter on your unit, it will not. It is for 5 stage only. You would then have to buy a 3/8" PH filter from APEC, about $40. Save yourself some time and money going directly through APEC for the upgrade route. Not much else to say, please READ the manual and you will not have to think about this system but a few times a year for TDS tests and scheduled filter changes. Good luck! ... show more

  • Love this system!
Style: PH90
LOVE this system! I used to buy water and have to carry around jugs of it and its so convenient now to just turn on the special tap and have fresh clean water all day every day! Shipping was super fast - next day fast - and I installed in that nite. Talk about instant gratification! INSTALLATION: The system is relatively easy to install yourself. I do have a lot of handyman type experience, however I think there is nothing overly complicated here. You have to turn off the cold water supply under the sink, unscrew the sink hose, screw in the adapter, reconnect sink hose. Then you have to connect the system together, most of which is pushing the right color tubes into the right receptacles, very easy. The most challenging part was installing the extra water spigot, you have to do some under sink gymnastics with the tiny lock nut that holds the spigot in place from below. This is my major complaint: this lock nut is tiny and very inconvenient to screw in, as compared to installing other faucets. Definitely some room for design improvement here, but once you get it on, its done and out of sight and out of mind. Suggestion: have the right size wrench in multiple configurations here, so you can find the one that fits in the tight space underneath. If you don't have a partner to hold the spigot above in place while you turn from below, tape it in place with packing tape :-) Once you install the whole system, turn on the cold water, turn on the water supply to the system, and open the tank valve, and let the tank fill all the way (2-3 hours), drain all the way to flush system (about 5 min), the refill tank (another 2-3 hours) and you're good to go! Drinkable clean water on tap! The system comes with good clear instructions and pictures, follow those. I'm just giving you a quick rundown here so you have an idea of what you're in for. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS: I bought this on Amazon. I wanted the fast shipping with my Prime account. Be aware that Amazon ships these AS IS without modifications. If you want the Quick Dispense Upgrade, I'd just order direct from Apec, as they will modify your system to Quick Dispense for you (change the 5th and 6th stage from 1/4 to 3/8 so your water dispenses faster). I ordered the RO-PH90 system and the upgrade kit from Amazon, only to realize that because I ordered the 6-stage system, I still need to buy yet ANOTHER filter, the 6th stage, at 3/8 which is another $45. If I bought direct from the company, I'd save myself the $45 plus they'd change it out for me. As it is now, I'll just use up the 6th stage filter that came with it (they last for 6-12 months) then I'll swap it out for the 3/8 faster flow filter. Not a big deal. But letting ya'll know in case it helps :-) ... show more

  • Great RO system and super easy to install
Style: PH90
Get this RO system if you want great tasting water. I can't believe I went almost two years in my new house without it. Install isn't difficult. All of the tubing is color coded and while it might look intimidating, most of the assembly is already done for you. The longest parts of the install were actually just waiting a couple of hours for the tank to fill, the 5 minutes to empty the first tank, and then the next few hours to fill it again. One big downside of these systems is that 4 gallon tank (or however big it is) takes up a lot of room under your sink. If you keep a lot of stuff down there, you might want to consider a different system. There are a few things you might have to purchase along with this kit if you plan on DIY. First, the included faucet didn't match the style we have (of course) so that had to get replaced. That meant I had to purchase some new 1/4" tubing or I guess I could have just cut the tube connected to the old faucet. For us it was about $60 for the matching faucet and $3 or $4 for the tube. I also had to buy a hole saw to cut the hole in my granite. This part was the part I was most afraid of messing up but it went just fine. The hole saw kit was $20. The rest of required gear are standard DIY things like a drill, a screw driver, and a wrench. ... show more

  • arrived on time, easy to install tastes great after 2 weeks
Style: PH90
I have had an RO system for 20 years (Everpure ROM) and it finally got to the point where it was cheaper to buy a new system from APEC than a complete set of filters/membrane from Everypure (Pentek). The system arrived a day early with very clear installation instructions. To be fair my installation was easier because i had the feed line and waste line already installed from my prior system but it went together easily, seems high quality and started producing filtered water right away. this system produces water faster than my old system filling up the 4 gallon tank in under 3 hours - it thrives on my house water pressure of 60 psi. i like the taste of the PH increasing filter lets see what it does to my electric kettle, ice maker and coffee maker the only installation glitch was the o-ring on one of the carbon block housings. it was leaking and even after several re-seating and application of good grade silicone it weeps a tiny bit. The o-ring was slightly too large and never fit tightly in its groove. not a bit enough issue to knock down to 4 stars. will update my review if any problems appear in the months ahead but so far it appears to be good value. ... show more

  • Great Osmosis System
Style: PH90
Have had this system for about 4 months now. Purchased this system to replace a four filter osmosis system that was about 10 years old. We hired a plumber to install. I like that it adds minerals back into your water. The taste is very clean, it tastes great! It comes with a very nice brushed nickel faucet. The tank fills and replenishes itself very quickly, compared to our old system, if you turn the faucet on and leave it on, it will take about 5 plus minutes to empty the entire tank. I use to run out of osmosis water when I used it to fill up a big pot of water for pasta but with this new system, I haven't run out of water. It seems to have a good sized holding tank. The flow from the faucet is strong and it flows faster than my old system. The tubing size is exactly the same as my old system but the flow with this one is faster. I did not upgrade to the bigger tubing, I used the one that is sold with this unit. We also have it hooked up to the water on the refrigerator, our ice cubes are almost entirely clear. With our old system there were still some cloudy spots. I like that it is American made and their filters are American made too. My daughter has had this system for about 2 years now, her husband installed it and she has had no problems with it. She loves it too! I am VERY happy with my APEC system. Great quality!! Great tasting water!!! Highly recommend!! ... show more

  • Great investment if you have hard water
Style: PH90
***Update 2 years later*** Still love this system. You are supposed to change the filters out once a year. I forgot to do that. It is now 2 years almost to the day and it is still tasting great and running smoothly. I am still very satisfied with the purchase and would recommend this unit to anyone. So i went into this knowing it was going to take a bit of effort. That being said, i was very impressed with the installation instructions. As you can see from my photos of under the sink it was a bit of a tight fit. I ended up putting screws in the wall to hold up the filters. Apec color coated the tubes which made for a very intelligent guide to follow. I chose this particular model because it included the larger tubes for better water flow. All in all i had it installed in about 2 hours. The most difficult part for me was actually securing the faucet underneath as i had to reach around the sink. The flavor of the water though and not having to buy filtered water is totally worth it without a doubt. The only thing i will say which technically is a negative, but not enough to drop it a star is the fact the instructions say to run through one complete tank of water and it will then be ready for use. We had to go through 2-3 tanks before the water came out clear. Once it did though, we have had no further issues now and had it installed for about a month now. ... show more

  • 4.5 star, just need a little more
Style: PH90
I really want to rate them 4.5 star, but since it isn't an option. I will round up and give them a 5. Anyway I do like this product a lot. It is relatively easy to put in, very high quality and you can definitely taste the difference with the water. It does take a up a lot of space, but it is what it is. The only reason why I am not giving this a 5 star is because the faucet is horrible. It looks horrible, it fits terrible and I really wish they would invest into something a little nicer. Also the nut at the base is very hard to put on, but I give them credit for giving us this easy to snap in water line with this kit. I would also recommend adding a gauge or something to the tank or water line to ensure everything is working like it should. There is no way I can test what pressure is coming out of my tap. Also the tank does tend to wobble a little bit, I would recommend a sturdier base. Lastly the customer support is useless. I called them and I was left on hold for 14 minutes even though I was the first caller in line. Also it really does take 1-2 tanks before everything flushes out. The water was initially grey, it would then be super cloudy. I had to empty it two tanks before I start getting the more clear water. ... show more
