  • EFFECTIVE HEATER USE WITH CAUTION
In my own experience, this immersion heater has proven itself valuable when I need hot water. Whether I needed to quickly warm water for cleaning, or craft projects, like dyeing clothes, or any other purpose, it’s been a good tool, especially when I made sure to use it under strict adult supervision so kids or animals were not exposed to it. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and I found operation simple: I just plugged it in and fully submerged it, making sure all safety steps were observed. The digital thermometer included worked well—while I have other thermometers, this was used as reference as the water warmed up. Heating water in my storage tote went smoothly without any damage, which was a concern. Of course where I monitored the temps so closely I stopped heating the water at about 125. The heater’s compact design didn’t disappoint; it delivered good warm-ups that matched my expectations and made it easy to use wherever I needed it. From the start, I took the safety warnings very seriously. My process always involved unplugging the heater well before handling anything in the water, and I made certain nobody—myself included—touched the water or heater while it was plugged in. Since there’s no built-in temperature regulator, I stayed vigilant to prevent overheating. the UL recognized certification so I continued to treat the device with extra caution. It does add to my confusion because while trying to determine what UL Recognized was I found A UL Recognized component cannot be sold directly to consumers as a standalone certified product. For consumer-facing goods, manufacturers need UL Listed certification, This was obviously a concern. . Some claims about being "safe for family use" and "anti-scalding" didn’t align with my experience, because the heater keeps heating until it’s unplugged and could easily get dangerously hot if not watched closely. Overall, my hands-on use of this heater left me satisfied with its performance, as long as I was attentive and cautious throughout. I appreciated the sandpaper and scrubby for maintenance—a thoughtful addition that will keep my device in top shape. Never once did I operate the heater unless it was fully submerged, and followed the instructions. With vigilant adult supervision and practical safety steps, this immersion heater is an effective tool for heating water in a pinch, but I never underestimated the need to use it carefully every single time. ... show more

  • Works as advertised and described, high powered heating, very complete kit, good value
Works as advertised and described, although now that I have it I am considering alternative solutions. It does appear to be indeed almost 2000W as it very quickly trips 15A circuits (~16.7A at 2000W), which is fantastic. Heating water takes a huge amount of energy and honestly even 2000W takes a while. The build quality is quite good, it's not the most ultra polished and refined perfect product, but considering the price and value it is plenty good. It's also a very complete kit that nicely includes the actual heater, the cleaning steel scouring pad, and a small simple battery powered wired thermometer. Very easy to use, just plug and play. There's no power switch or button, it starts heating up instantly so be ready and be careful. I needs to be in the water already before plugging it in. I understand the safety constraints to ensure no electrocution and also not getting burned by accidentally touching it. I initially wanted something to help keep bath water warm without needing to actually run the water, we have a small water heater that is shared across many outputs in the house and I don't want to be selfish. We have ample energy supply so something like this is fantastic. Initially I was getting out to let the bath water heat up, but after further thought I keep a 5 gallon bucket nearby with the heater in it and cycle the water around or just get fresh cold water. Overall a good buy, quite inexpensive for its power. ... show more

  • Great Value, Can Heat Water but I Prefer To Use It To Keep Hot Water Hot
The product is very simple - just a big resistive element. Basically a piece of metal that current runs through and that electrical energy turns to heat. There's not much to it! But that's actually a good thing! There are no moving parts, there are no microchips to fail or bugs to work out. Put it in water, plug it in, and it'll make the water hot - what more could you want?? The value is, in my opinion, quite good. This feels really high quality actually and I have used others that absolutely do not. The digital thermometer is a nice touch - my only complaint is that it uses small button cells which can be a bit annoying. But at least they've chosen LR44s which are pretty much the most common (and the cheapest) of the button cells. It also includes a steel scrubber and some sandpaper to help you remove the rust that WILL eventually form. That's just the nature of these kinds of products. It takes a little while to heat the water (depending on how much you're trying to heat) but again that's to be expected. It mentions the maximum it can heat is 60 gallons, but I tell you right now I would not dream of trying to heat 60 gallons with this thing - that's just not what it should be used for. This is the kind of thing to use when you want to heat up a 5 gallon bucket of water - or if you have a lot more water that's ALREADY HOT and you're just wanting to keep it hot then this is perfect! If you're trying to make a homemade hot tub for the whole family then this isn't the product you want. I do not personally use this to heat up water. I use it to take water that's already hot (from my home water heater) and keep it hot. This is an A+ product for that use, and the thermometer is really nice because it helps me make sure I'm not letting the water get too hot. ... show more

  • Works well but not "portable"
Works really well BUT I really wouldn't call it "portable" bc it only works in wall outlets. It overloaded when I tried to use it with portable power sources including one strong enough to power appliances. So if you needed it in a power outage or camping and only have alternative power source it won't work. ... show more
