  • Great little gizmo! Fixed the problem so easily...
As we do annually, we tried to drain the sediment & scutz out of our hot water tank and not a drop of water came out -- it was completely plugged. Wiggling a wire thru the value was useless. Do we call a plumber ($$$), buy a new tank ($$$$$) - or try to replace the drain ourselves?? Was fearing a 60gal flood getting the original drain off and replaced, then saw an ad for this little gem. We read the instructions & watched the video; got the garden hose and a screwdriver, and the bicycle pump we bought for the job. Within minutes we had free-flowing water from the drain!! There wasn't actually much sediment but it had completely blocked the drain valve somehow. Amazing little device, and so simple to use, and saved us so much money!! Looks like a high quality product, and definitely did the job for us, quickly. No frustrations, worked exactly as described, and knowing that drain is working again and the sediment is gone is such a good feeling. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Worth Every Penny!
This Sediment Buster is a must have when you drain your water heater - ESPECIALLY after having your well worked on! I just recently had my well worked on and it caused all sorts of water clarity problems due to the turbulence the work created. After two weeks of "waiting" for the water to totally clear up I tackled the task of draining my water heater. I could not believe how much crud had settled there - in fact when I first opened the valve a glob of mud came out and then clogged! Luckily I had my Sediment Buster attached and a quick spurt of compressed air and the water was draining again! I kept using my air compressor periodically during the entire draining process. After refilling the tank is did a short drain and my water was all clear! The Sediment Buster worked perfectly. Some users say theirs leaked leak but the only water I noticed is where I expected it to happen - at the air valve when you remove the compressed air, because a little water is going to seep out when you remove the air connection before that valve closes again. I am thoroughly impressed and 100% pleased with the Sediment Buster and how easy it was to use and its durability. Well made and so easy to use. ... show more

  • Great Tool! Great Tool!
This Tool works great! Easy to follow instructions and seems very well made. Used once so far flushing my 3 year old hot water heater, and made the task very simple. I followed the instructions and cooled the water in the tank first, no drips from the fittings and the valve opened and closed smoothly. Really handy being able to see clearly what is coming out of the tank instead of having to use a bucket to determine whether or not the water is running clear. If there was anything I would change or add, it would be modifying the air stem/fitting, or adding some kind of check valve between that and your compressor to prevent water from backflowing into it. I was using an electric air pump, and between cycling the pump on and off a ton of water went into my air hoses back to the air pump. I had to blow out my lines afterwards to prevent any damage to the electric pump. For next year's use, I will definitely be adding an in-line check valve. Something the manufacturer should consider adding in this kit as well. Overall I highly recommend this tool, and flush your tanks! Good plumbers aren't getting any easier to find and hot water heaters aren't getting any cheaper to replace. ... show more

  • Works Good!
Good solid plastic construction. Fairly good cleaning, definitely better than just draining and refilling. Attaches on easily.

  • Good product
Easy to use and works great at pushing air into the tank to cause water turbulence to break up any sentiments at the bottom that don't easily come out with just a typical drain. Simple plastic device, I personally think it should cost less but it's ability to clean the tank and avoid replacement cost exceeds the price of the product. ... show more

  • Sediment Buster 5 stars
This product was worth every cent we paid for it in my opinion. Snugged up connections and had zero leaks due to the product. Outflow valve operated smoothly during repeated off / on cycles and air bursts. Some reviews seem like very little air had to be used; if the tank has not been flushed in 5 years it will probably require up to 15 - 20 second bursts of compressed air. Pancake style compressor worked just fine for this and blowing the larger chunks of sediment back into the tank (some water must remain behind in the tank for it to work) did help keep the smaller stuff flowing out. Sometimes it requires 2 - 3 prolonged bursts. Flowing air before placing on Schraeder valve helped cut down on mess and water flowing into the air chuck (we have squeeze activation chuck vs valve only). Standard garden hose outlet allows flexibility for hose use but we slipped a 1” inside diameter vinyl hose over it and had other end connected to a shop vacuum via 2.5” conical hose adapter - that and this product facilitated “power flushing” the tank. Worth the $$ even if we only get this one use out of it but seems like it is decently made. ... show more

  • Works fine, but over priced
I would give it 5 star, if it is not over-priced. For merely a piece of plastics and simple mechanics, the price is way too high! However, it works fine and does what it's supposed to do.
