We are using this heater for an outside heater on the front porch. It really heats up the space nicely so we can all sit outside and enjoy watching the wildlife or the stars on cold nights. I love the remote control as well. This was very light, easy to set up. We attached it to the rails on the porch so it was the perfect height from the floor and from the ceiling of the porch. We had to have help to install the heater since my husband is in a wheelchair and can't walk or stand. We got it installed. However, the remotes did not work. We pulled the pull tabs but they still did not work. Come to find out, there were no batteries included with the remotes so we had to spend extra money to purchase the proper batteries. The remotes still are not working properly. At least send us batteries for the remotes! ... show more

I like this heater, but there are issues to note that inevitably brought my rating down. Most of the issues could easily be addressed in the future. Out of the box, I was immediately disappointed to find a dent on the top of the base. Perhaps this was an isolated issue, but perhaps it was an issue in production? There was also a bit of solid gunk on the threads of two of the 8 screws. It didn’t have any actual impact, but these things gave me a questionable first impression. Assembly is straight forward. Be sure to follow the directions by putting the cord clips on as you go, or you will have to disassemble a section to fit them in. The setup is quite tall, but it would be easy to remove a section of the pole to shorten it a bit, and the top pole is simple to telescope up and down. While I do feel like it is stable enough, I don’t think I would want this setup near children who might be prone to knocking it over. Unfortunately, there is some movement in the layers of the pole, even though I have the screws firmly in place. The handle for the top of the unit was easy to install, though the piece is naturally a bit too narrow for the holes and has to be gently stretched outward. That wasn’t an issue, but I found it too easy to over tighten the screws, and I inadvertently stripped the hole. Fortunately, I had some similarly sized screws that were slightly larger I could replace them with, but others may not be so lucky, so be careful to tighten them only as much as necessary. As far as I could tell, my unit did not come with screws to secure the heater unit to the pole. I found that disappointing, but there is some chance the two small screws were misplaced. I found it odd though since every other screw was already threaded into its place on the unit to be removed and reinstalled to connect pieces. I received two remote controls, so I think it is possible I received a second remote bag rather than a screw bag. Again, fortunately, I had screws that would fit. Incidentally, this is the same size screw that the top handle was attached with. When I turned the heater on, it began functioning very effectively. BUT, after a minute or two of operation I looked over to see some melting foam pieces beginning to melt through the front grate. They weren’t noticeable to me before I turned it on, but I assume it was some kind of foam in place to cushion the bulbs. Clearing these pieces out is not mentioned in the direction, and since the foam is a similar color to the grate, it is easy to overlook the small protrusion. I only saw it when looking back and my photos. Ironically, there is a tag with almost no information attached to the grate that reminds you to remove the tag before using. It says it has “Active Safeguard Tipover,” it says to assemble the heater before use, and it says to remove the card, but it doesn’t say to remove the melting foam that’s pressed up against the heating units. Oof. It didn’t start to catch fire or anything, but it felt potentially dangerous, and there are still signs of ash and black markings from some of the foam resting on the top bulb and melting at the bottom of the metal. Maybe I can clean it up over time, but you’ll want to remove it before you turn the unit on. As for the functioning of the heating unit and the controls, I’m actually very pleased. It seems to work great so far. The on/off and the settings are easy to shift. The remote control works easily and effectively. It seems to be a good unit. As an aside, I do wish the cord were longer. Such a tall heater uses most of the cord just to reach from the wall to the top of the unit. All said, I am happy to have this unit. With a bit of awareness, most of the issues can be improved by the manufacturer or easily compensated for by the consumer. I probably wouldn’t purchase this unit knowing the little issues I had, but I am glad to have it and hope to get years of good use out of it, so I am optimistic that this model will serve me and others well. ... show more
