Most people will want to buy this to heat their patio or deck. It mounts to the wall but also could be used on a stand if desired. To be clear, I did not buy 2 of these to heat a patio or deck but to heat 2 outdoor kennels for my German Shepherd Dogs, which I keep outside until it is time for bed when I bring them in the house. Regardless of the brand, no heater of this type is going to work that well whether mounted on a wall or self standing in an open area if it is windy. That is just the way it is. If you have a partially enclosed space which blocks the wind, you will do just fine. Now, the 2 kennels I have are open on all four sides but I have from fall to spring installed wind screens around all four sides of the kennels which are 10 ft x 10ft rectangles and 8 ft high. I have hung the heaters from the ceiling posts of the kennels and they work really well. Very easy to assemble. I have wall mounted heaters (different brand) on my deck and I can tell you that these would mount much easier than the ones I put on my deck. Piece of cake really. The package includes all of the hardware you need. I could mount these on a wall in less than 5 minutes. It took me less than that to hang them from the ceiling of the kennels. What about the remote? It works flawlessly and for my money it is essential, not just a convenience. I do not want to walk up to the heater and to turn it on or off if I do not have to. You can do it of course, but hitting the remote is far more convenient. It is easy to operate, self intuitive. You do not need instructions to operate it. As for heat, it has three levels. Level 1 is 900 watts, level 2 is 1200 watts and leverl 3 is 1500 watts. I find level 1 more than sufficient for temps in the 40s. I do not use it if 50 or above. (these are German Shepherd Dogs not people) That said, I am sure level one would be fine for the 50s for people. Level 2 I use for temps int he 30s. And Level 3 for the 20s and below. I have had the dogs out when the temperature was 5 degrees F and they did fine. Remember, these are infrared heaters, they heat objects not the air. So when the dogs stood or slept under the heaters, they were warm, despite the fact that air was quite cold. I warmly, no pun intended, recommend this product. It is first class in every respect.

This heater is the perfect solution for keeping my two-car attached garage from dipping below freezing at times when the outdoor temperature remains significantly below freezing for days. I mounted heater near the ceiling using the supplied chains by attaching them to the metal struts supporting the garage door rails. I set the heater to about 35F so that it only turns on for those rare times the garage would otherwise dip below freezing. I was able to plug it into the same outlet used by the garage door motors. The units is of extremely high quality. With the remote I can easily control the unit from my internal doorway to the garage. Because it is a radiant heater I do not have to worry about moving parts.

I bought this to add some heat in my shed. When you turn it on the heat is there immediately. Keep in mind that this is direct heat and you need to be more or less directly under it to feel the heat. It will work well for it intended purpose. I am deducting 1 star for the mounting system, that is ridiculous and almost required me to grow a third hand to get it done. There was no template in the box as shown in the video. I will be buying a light hanging kit so I can hang and bring the heat down lower. This is my only complaint with this product.

It works great! Easy to use, reliable. I used it for a greenhouse and a sun room for this winter and it did an awesome job keeping the temperature steady and keeping my plants alive. Very accurate with temperature for being triggered on and off, I really love the automatic setting. Previously, I purchased another model with just high and low temperature settings, but that's only useful if you are actively near the heater to be there to turn it off when it gets too hot. For the price, I think it's a really great product. I've only used it for small, closed spaces so no clue how useful it is in a more open areas.

This infrared heater is the best I've ever had. If anyone is wondering, yes, this can be used indoors. It has a stand which lets it be used vertically, with a safety "kill switch" if it is tipped over. It does not make any noise. It does not produce any fumes or odors. Because it is a vertical heater, it doesn't take up much floor space. Best of all, it is incredibly efficient. This thing seems to put out more heat at the lowest setting (900 watts) than other space heaters put out while running full blast at 1500 watts. It is "radiant" heat - there is no fan. It takes a while, but this thing WILL warm a fair sized room. We used it to keep a 12x14 room warm when our furnace went out during subzero temperatures. Sitting in front of it feels like sitting in warm sunshine or in front of a cozy campfire. Great heater!

I would have rated it 5 stars but the DR-238 that arrived was different from the advertised mounting video. Yes the DR-238 is well built, works as advertised, it’s easy to operate, and it looks very nice once it’s mounted. Mounting is why I chose the DR-238 for my covered patio. Specifically, the mounting video shows the DR-238 with SLIDING mounting brackets, that slide the full length (or width) of the unit making it easier to mount in my situation. When I opened the box I liked the looks of the unit, however when I turned it around and read the instructions, it did not have the advertised sliding mounting brackets, instead it had two fixed mounting points. Not what I had ordered. Immediately I considered returning it, but I was having friends coming over the next day so, I decided to keep it and get creative with the mounting of the unit. It took me longer to mount it, had to modify the mounting brackets and I did get creative and able to mount it where I wanted to. Now a couple of days later, I’ve enjoyed using a would rate it a 5 stars. I included pictures so you can see how I mounted it.

I needed a heat source for a motorcycle project I was working on in my detached 2 car concrete unheated garage, with no man door or windows. I live in the new England region and temps can easily drop to the single digits (Fahrenheit). I decided on electric because it has no fumes like a kerosene or diesel heaters, (no windows for me) . I was impressed with this Dr-239 3000w heater, I mounted it on the ceiling (8ft high) and about 8ft away from where my bike sat. At 220v and on a 15amp circuit. I felt the cost to operate was very reasonable as I did have about 50hrs doing my project and my electric bill was effected minimally. The infrared type of heat was certainly a different experience as it keeps you warm but doesn't heat the air space. The timer function is a nice feature to help you keep track of how long you are spending on your project. I would not hesitate buying another, I highly recommend this heater (brand) , they are made in Asia, but engineered and designed in the great USA.

The product is good and i was able to use it with a 15amps circuit! Heats up fast and if you are directly under it you do feel the heat (highly directional which i knew before buying). The instruction says mount the mounting bracket 10.8 inches apart - really? They must have included a template for easy installation. The youtube videos state flexible mounting but i believe this is a new model and looks like they have "changed" the mounting holes from "flexible" to "fixed" probably for strength. I mounted the unit to a 2x1 - 20 inch wide board and then screwed the 2x1 to studs 16 inches apart. I do recommend this product.
