Most people will want to buy this to heat their patio or deck. It mounts to the wall but also could be used on a stand if desired. To be clear, I did not buy 2 of these to heat a patio or deck but to heat 2 outdoor kennels for my German Shepherd Dogs, which I keep outside until it is time for bed when I bring them in the house. Regardless of the brand, no heater of this type is going to work that well whether mounted on a wall or self standing in an open area if it is windy. That is just the way it is. If you have a partially enclosed space which blocks the wind, you will do just fine. Now, the 2 kennels I have are open on all four sides but I have from fall to spring installed wind screens around all four sides of the kennels which are 10 ft x 10ft rectangles and 8 ft high. I have hung the heaters from the ceiling posts of the kennels and they work really well. Very easy to assemble. I have wall mounted heaters (different brand) on my deck and I can tell you that these would mount much easier than the ones I put on my deck. Piece of cake really. The package includes all of the hardware you need. I could mount these on a wall in less than 5 minutes. It took me less than that to hang them from the ceiling of the kennels. What about the remote? It works flawlessly and for my money it is essential, not just a convenience. I do not want to walk up to the heater and to turn it on or off if I do not have to. You can do it of course, but hitting the remote is far more convenient. It is easy to operate, self intuitive. You do not need instructions to operate it. As for heat, it has three levels. Level 1 is 900 watts, level 2 is 1200 watts and leverl 3 is 1500 watts. I find level 1 more than sufficient for temps in the 40s. I do not use it if 50 or above. (these are German Shepherd Dogs not people) That said, I am sure level one would be fine for the 50s for people. Level 2 I use for temps int he 30s. And Level 3 for the 20s and below. I have had the dogs out when the temperature was 5 degrees F and they did fine. Remember, these are infrared heaters, they heat objects not the air. So when the dogs stood or slept under the heaters, they were warm, despite the fact that air was quite cold. I warmly, no pun intended, recommend this product. It is first class in every respect.

In case is not clear from the picture on what I did, I mounted the heater to a 2x4 and put it in a bucket and filled the bucket with rocks to weigh it down. I am sure that the manufacturer would not approve of this mounting method, but for a variety of reasons this was a better setup for me than mounting it to the wall.* 1a) I live in a condo building so mounting anything to the outside of the building was a no go 1b) Just as importantly, you need to be pretty close to the device to feel the heat. Maybe if I had a covered or semi enclosed area it would be able to trap some of the heat, but I am using this on an open patio. There is no way if I mounted it the 8 feet off the ground like they tell you to, that I would be able to feel much of anything. 2) I wanted the ability to move/reposition it. I can move the bucket easy enough and as long as I can get power to it, I have warmth. This means if I have some people over, we can position it and or move it throughout the night to make sure everyone stays warm. It also means that I can have it next to me while I am sitting down on my patio furniture or I can reposition it for when I am grilling or working on something else outside. In conclusion, this thing does not put out a ton of heat, but it is a noticeable heat if you are close enough (a few feet). Considering as of right now all of the gas/propane heaters are out of stock due to COVID, this is the next best option. Mounting it in a bucket made it much more effective and flexible. *The manufacturer wants you to mount it high for a reason - it gets hot. I do not have any children that are going to be near it and will be responsible about making sure that things do not get too close to it. Although the front grates (and glass under it) get very hot, so far the sides and back of the unit have never gotten hot enough that I couldn't touch them. All this being said, please use your own judgement about whether this setup makes sense for your situation.

I needed a heat source for a motorcycle project I was working on in my detached 2 car concrete unheated garage, with no man door or windows. I live in the new England region and temps can easily drop to the single digits (Fahrenheit). I decided on electric because it has no fumes like a kerosene or diesel heaters, (no windows for me) . I was impressed with this Dr-239 3000w heater, I mounted it on the ceiling (8ft high) and about 8ft away from where my bike sat. At 220v and on a 15amp circuit. I felt the cost to operate was very reasonable as I did have about 50hrs doing my project and my electric bill was effected minimally. The infrared type of heat was certainly a different experience as it keeps you warm but doesn't heat the air space. The timer function is a nice feature to help you keep track of how long you are spending on your project. I would not hesitate buying another, I highly recommend this heater (brand) , they are made in Asia, but engineered and designed in the great USA.

This heater is the perfect solution for keeping my two-car attached garage from dipping below freezing at times when the outdoor temperature remains significantly below freezing for days. I mounted heater near the ceiling using the supplied chains by attaching them to the metal struts supporting the garage door rails. I set the heater to about 35F so that it only turns on for those rare times the garage would otherwise dip below freezing. I was able to plug it into the same outlet used by the garage door motors. The units is of extremely high quality. With the remote I can easily control the unit from my internal doorway to the garage. Because it is a radiant heater I do not have to worry about moving parts.

It works great! Easy to use, reliable. I used it for a greenhouse and a sun room for this winter and it did an awesome job keeping the temperature steady and keeping my plants alive. Very accurate with temperature for being triggered on and off, I really love the automatic setting. Previously, I purchased another model with just high and low temperature settings, but that's only useful if you are actively near the heater to be there to turn it off when it gets too hot. For the price, I think it's a really great product. I've only used it for small, closed spaces so no clue how useful it is in a more open areas.

The product is good and i was able to use it with a 15amps circuit! Heats up fast and if you are directly under it you do feel the heat (highly directional which i knew before buying). The instruction says mount the mounting bracket 10.8 inches apart - really? They must have included a template for easy installation. The youtube videos state flexible mounting but i believe this is a new model and looks like they have "changed" the mounting holes from "flexible" to "fixed" probably for strength. I mounted the unit to a 2x1 - 20 inch wide board and then screwed the 2x1 to studs 16 inches apart. I do recommend this product.
