First: the product. Exactly as described and pictured. Super easy to assemble. The panels seem kinda flimsy at first, but after everything is assembled it’s sturdy. Second: installation. A nightmare. Truly awful. I can’t honestly blame the nightmare installation on the product. I’m assuming any other awning would be this bad. Some advice: don’t count on the installation hardware that comes with the awning. It was complicated and didn’t come with any instructions. I had to look it up on YouTube. The other problem is the awning’s arches. The little decorations inside the support arches which I’m assuming are structurally important make it hard to attach the awning to the wall. A drill, hammer, screwdriver…none of it will fit. The top hole is covered by one of those decorations on the arch, so only a tool with small clearance will work. For example, you can use a simple hand wrench because it turns flat, parallel to the wall. But you can’t use a screwdriver because the handle comes away from the hole and turns perpendicular to the wall. So before you start with this project I highly recommend you make a plan about what hardware to use to attach it to your building. Keep in mind that you will not have any tools clearance for those top holes. Good luck! On the plus side, I put this awning through a ton of abuse trying to get it up and it is definitely more sturdy than it looks. I even had to skip one of the holes, so the whole thing sags. But we’ve had some big storms and it doesn’t budge even with the uneven way it hangs. The panels are a bit hollow so it makes some noise when it rains. If that is a concern for you then be aware. It is louder than the sound rain makes on my car roof when I’m inside the car but not tin roof loud. I’d say it’s more like rain on a plastic umbrella.

Arrived earlier than expected which was a plus. Light weight, would recommend to have a helper to steady on side, but can be put up by oneself. Had to seal the seams with insulated tape as it wanted to slip out of the slots while putting up. The arms are made of hard plastic, not sure how well high winds will affect it at the bolt holes. Would have liked to had several options as the a hits were too short for my application through vinyl siding. I do, however think that this has been a good investment to block rain and direct sunlight around my back door,. I have now purchased a second one will be put it up soon. Great price super light weight and tinted. Note: if the door swings inward the height above the door doesn’t need to be as high as directed as the door will not hit it on the swing outward.

I’ve had this for about 12 years now. Bought it to protect a 18,000 BTU Split Air A\C mounted on side of house . It has done the job well and still holding up to extreme heat ( summers over 100 most days) and torrential rains . Good value & quality.

If you buy a unit that is longer then 48 inches you can not use the long end screws in one side of the unit where they meet so you only have 3 3/4" screws holding the panel together and they do not show it in the diagram but you need to put a screw in the top of the bracket where the hole is and into the cross bracket for some stability. I still worry any strong wind and it will blow apart.

I bought four and they survived the winter in Michigan. One fell down but that was because the screw that I used was too short. The screws that they give you are for concrete and I was going into wood so I actually had to make some plastic washers out of a piece of vinyl from Home Depot so that the screws would actually fit snugly in the half-inch holes and I had to cut the length of the clear plastic down so I could match the wall stud width of 32". The black plastic pieces are sturdy. The corrugated plastic is not the best idea because within a week the holes inside of the corrugated plastic were full of water and bugs and fungus. I have half the mind to go up there with a can of spray paint and spray the bottom white so I don't have to see all the nastiness. That would be a pain in the butt without taking them down but I can tell you that if you buy these with the clear corrugated plastic they are going to get nasty with in a couple weeks and you can't clean them because it's all on the inside of the corrugation. That said, I knew these were cheap corrugated plastic when I bought them. The black support pieces are made with strong ABS plastic and I am happy with those. I wish the holes were offset on it because you have to use a socket wrench with a bit matching your screw because a screwdriver won't fit in there and you're definitely not getting a power tool in there. And keep in mind that if you're not using gigantic bolts you're going to have to get some kind of washer to go around your screws because the holes are about 1/2 inch. If I had to do it again I would replace the corrugated plastic with some of the plastic that they use to put on shower walls. The UV might make them look nasty after a few years but I guarantee nasty would be better than having gunk all inside of the corrugated plastic.
