If your pool is 15 feet, use all 7 section 3.19/2.99 tube and the overlaps are 1.5 ft. If pool is 14 feet,can use 7 tubes with 1.7ft overlaps. If pool is less than 12 feet, 5 tubes is enough.

We have a 16' x 31' inground pool. The reel is pretty easy to put together and took about an hour. We ordered the larger reel to add support. Moves around easily but makes it manageable for 1 - easy for 2. Lightweight. Will need the sandbags. Happy with the buy. No instructions, though. And it arrived in 2 shipments about 1 week apart. 21' Foot Version: As a manufacturing expert I found this to be very high quality. Given the cost, it represents a great value. The aluminum extrusions are well made and anodized, the end stands are sturdy, and the wheels are more than adequate. This unit has 3 pieces of overlapping aluminum that require some math based on how wide you want the system to be. To save yourself time, mark the middle piece center line with a sharpie. This will ensure you have an even amount telescoping to the end sections. It does require self tapping screws which were well made and cut easily into the aluminum. If you have an extra large phillips tip for your screw gun it will help. The instructions left a little to be desired but if you plan through the whole build before starting you will be able to figure it out. It came in two boxes and was well packed. One end of an extrusion had a small scratch from the box being dropped but it didn't impact it's design or operation. ... show more

Attached to our solar cover and as its a odd shape pool the reel took some adjusting and moving. Overall this is a good product and the second one we have purchased. The pool at our last house was a rectangle and a snap to fit. This reel makes removal by one person possible and keeps the cover in a tidy manner. Reel can be wheeled out of the way. Assembly of the tubes was somewhat confusing with regards to the slots and measuring for our particular pool, but all parts were include and assembly was completed. Thumbs up. ... show more

This pool reel is actually not bad. It took about an hour to assemble and it seems to do the job. The problem with this product is the seller. There was no communication from them. The order did not arrive at the same time. It arrived in 2 packages. So, I was left hanging. Amazon said the package was delivered but that was only part of it. Amazon did not know that the seller sent the other part Fed Ex separately so it created a major issue. Attempted to contact seller but no communication.     • Sturdy construction but not super stable (20x40 pool)

Have now had this product for a few weeks and gone through several wind-ups/wind-offs, and have some observations. We have rectangular 20x40 in ground pool with a standard solar cover (blue tinted bubble wrap). Note my comments are for one person working the reel... an overall comment would be this product works way better with two people (which is a little disappointing). Winding the cover off the pool and onto the reel goes reasonably well with one person but you will likely have to stop a couple of times to avoid folds and bunching. If folds/bunches start early in the reel in process then a) the cover looks a mess, and b) reeling gets much harder... so worth the extra time to roll the cover onto the reel as flat as possible. I'd rate the reel 7 out of 10 for getting cover off the pool Getting the cover off the reel and back onto the pool is a problem... every time I've tried gently, slowly pulling the cover off the reel the unit has tipped over. Seems the base should be wider on both ends. Going to try adding some weight to the ends and/or extending the 'front' legs but was hoping one person could get cover off and back on pool using this and have found it is not the case. I'd rate the reel 4 out of 10 for that. High marks to the seller FCH Direct, who provided very responsive customer service while I sought updates on 2nd box (this product ships in two boxes that may arrive at different times). Product is relavely easy to assemble with Phllips screwdriver and a drill (helpful if you have a drill bit for drilling into metal). Am pleasantly surprised by how sturdy this product appears... from the wheels, to the poles, to the handle... hoping that with a little TLC it will last for years. ... show more

    • This product may only be good for a lightweight pool solar cover .

Be advised, this pool winder CANNOT be used on a pool thermal cover. IT IS TOO FLIMSY. Nowhere in any advertisement does it say, good only for a lightweight pool cover. We put the winder together immediately on receipt. It comes in two boxes. Because of the configuration of our pool we had to get the 21 footer. In attaching the straps to our thermal cover, the strap insert line did not line up with the other tubing. Another complaint we had was the grommets used to hold the wheels and the handle on are similarly flimsy.. So this unit did not work, and then we discovered our biggest mistake. We had disposed of the original boxes . After much effort, we were able to repack it all up after making a box and discovered that we would have to pay to send it back. In contacting the vendor, we were told we could use their shipper to return it, but they wouldn’t tell us which shipper was “their” shipper. Various shippers were contacted and it would have cost us more than the cost of the item. After much back and forth, we did get a small price reduction and are now are in the process of selling it locally at a deep discount to barely break even. We know CAVEAT EMPTOR. ... show more

I think that this Reel is very well made. It does come with lots of parts to put together and not sure that the instructions were as clear as they needed to be especially for how to put the straps on. As for the non-wheeled side of the cart, very unstable. When rolling a pool cover onto this reel,the footed side falls over. I hasto put a cinderblock on he footto keep from flipping over, or have someone hold it down. however...works great for storing cover ... show more
