I installed this yesterday and it’s an excellent product so far. It’s a little complicated to assemble because of three instruction guides that are redundant but the photos should be improved or combined. The ‘arms’ are spring loaded and zip-tied together and the ‘warning’ directly on the arm is unclear IMO. Great design overall. Roller works great, feels sturdy, nothing seems flimsy. My opinion is that if it was heavier it would harm more than help. I suspect the canvas will fade and deteriorate under direct sun/UV but that seems inevitable. I also suspect that very high winds will fold this without mercy, but again I believe this cannot be overcome without making it weigh hundreds of pounds and that is precisely the opposite of what the design hopes to solve. I would buy again without hesitation. Hire someone for install if you have any doubts.

We bought the 8 x 10 unit. This shade unit is very well made and works exactly as intended. The frame is very sturdy and has a nice white powder coated finish. All the hardware and the shade cover are very well made. The unit is a very good value for the price. My only issue is that the instructions are a little lacking in some areas but there was an extra sheet with color step by step pictures that really helped. Be sure you read and re-read the instructions several times so you get the installation process right. I like the fact that the angle of the shade can be adjusted depending on the time of year. It takes 2 people minimum to install this shade, but if you take your time you can get a nice install. I would not hesitate to buy Vevor products again in the future.

I recently purchased the VEVOR 12 x 10 ft Retractable Awning to place over my outdoor workshop. I was pleasantly surprised by how prompt the shipping was, and it arrived in excellent shape. I have to agree that the pictures in the directions are very small and are difficult to see, but with a little ingenuity, it is fairly simple to install. There are several design modifications that are not supported by the instructions but are not difficult to figure out. The instructions recommend 2 to 3 people for the installation, or you can do it as I did, by yourself, and assemble it right at the wall installation point. Once I had the awning installed, I had to adjust it to be level at full extension and have the arms in sequence, as per the instructions, which were quite adequate. The only con I had was that the anchors provided could not be torqued beyond 10 foot-pounds. According to sources online, the 5/8 anchors should be torqued to between 30 and 40 foot-pounds. I purchased other anchors from Amazon. I am very pleased with the awning's quality and ease of use. I do keep it rolled in except when I am working in my outdoor workshop. I would purchase it again.

I ordered this Vevor retractable awning because it was 1/5 (one fifth) the cost of my previous awning. I am so happy with this Vevor unit. In comparing it to the previous, much more expensive awning, this Vevor awning IMO is much better. It is structurally stronger. The previous awning would creak and flop around in even the slightest wind while the Vevor unit is rock solid. Of course it flops around some in the wind but is obviously more rugged and stable than the MUCH more expensive one. Yes, you have to assemble the Vevor unit but I spent about 2 hours unpacking and assembling one evening and installed it the following morning. (Requires a helper to lift and install) The Vevor unit has been up all summer and performs like the day I installed it. Will definitely buy again when this one wears out but I’m confident that will be several years from now.

DO NOT BUY! I should have read the one-star reviews. The installation was a nightmare. The sequence of written instruction is different from that of the pictorial. In the instruction, there was a step where you had to push something. Instead, it said to "pull". It took me a while to figure that out. Don't they do a quality control of the products they sell? Or do they only care about making big profits? One of the legs does not slide easily, no matter how much adjustments I make on the bolts. I even sprayed the part with DW-40, but no luck. When pulling in, one side goes faster than the other side, creating tension on the whole thing and the fabric. The caps were not easy to install. They kept coming loose, had to drill two screws into the metal frame to keep them in place. Finally gave up on trying to make this thing work after 3 days of fixing and adjusting. Save yourself your time, effort and money.

This item is okay; it does what it’s supposed to do. However, this was one of the most difficult items to put together; instructions are bad, and it makes the process harder than it should be. I am not sure if I can recommend this unless the product gets updated and the instruction booklet improves.
