  • Met my rather unique needs
Size: Level 2 16A NEMA 10-30
I have a NEMA 10-30 plug in the storage room attached to my carport, but it is hooked to two 110v,15 amp breakers through wiring adequate for 15 amps, not 30 amps. So the electrician who I hired to inspect said I could get a 240 volt charger, but can't run it above 12 amps (80% of 15 amps). So I needed a charger that: 1) has a NEMA 10-30 connector, 2) is capable of running at below 15 amps, and 3) has a relatively long cord that I can route through the ceiling of the storage room into the celing of the carport, and then down to where it plugs into the car. This product met all those needs and was also quite inexpensive. I'm knocking off a star because the documentation is pretty poor. But I am now able to charge at more than double the speed that I previously was when I was plugging into a standard wall outlet (Level 1 charging). So overall I'm happy to find a product that maximizes the charging speed available without spending thousands to beef up the electrical infrastructure of my house. ... show more

  • Great value for the price, APP is not intuitive for scheduled charging
Size: Level 2 32A NEMA 14-50
The price is good. I purchased the updated version so I could use the APP for scheduled charging overnight. Adding the device to the Smart Life APP was the easy part, which basically duplicated the charger display. However, figuring out the scheduled charging was not intuitive and it did not have any instructions. You have to create a "Scene" (like a scene in a play, I guess) based on time of day (I called it "Start", if "Schedule:10:00PM"), "then" add the device "Switch:ON". Then add a second scene (I called it "End", if "Schedule:6:00AM"), "then" add the device, and "Switch:OFF". You can add other settings as well, but I found those unnecessary after initial set up. Hopefully this helps someone, because it took me a while to figure it out with no instructions. It works fine now! Still a good value for the price. You just need a 40A or 50A 240V plug to use the 32A charger, which may require an electrician to run a new circuit. If you're installing a new circuit, I recommend just installing 50A for a little extra future proofing. (Beyond 50A gets pretty expensive.) NEC 2020 also requires a dedicated plug to be on GFCI breakers for plug-in EV chargers. ... show more

  • Nice basic charger. Easy for beginners.
Size: Level 2 16A NEMA 10-30
Great charger for first time ev buyers. I got this one for my mother in law. She needed something faster than the level one 12 amp charger that came with her BMW i3. The unit was easy to set up. Instructions were clear. The app works easier with iPhone vs android for set up. I was able to set the desired amps straight from the unit (number of yellow flashes determines strength). The 28ft cord was needed since it was enough to reach from her nema 10-30 outlet to anywhere in driveway and even to the separate garage. The unit gets slightly warm when charging but never hot. Overall we are happy with this purchase. We may consider buying a second spare unit that allows for 24amps of charge in the future. ... show more

  • Car charger with long cord, to reach better than most.
Size: LEVEL1+2 16A
This charger has a longer cord than most and has been working great for charging my Hybrid SUV. I was pleased with the overall product and price. It even has a nice storage/transport bag, for when I take it for use when traveling.

  • Level 2 charging
Size: LEVEL1+2 16A
I purchased this charger as a second option for my home, and I must say it has exceeded my expectations. As an owner of a Chevy Volt, I was thrilled to discover that this charger efficiently charges my vehicle to full capacity in less than 4.5 hours on level 2 charging. It perfectly serves its purpose and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. ... show more

  • Great with my Tucson PHEV
Size: LEVEL1+2 16A
Hyundai is selling the Tucson Plug-in with a 12A Level 1 charger despite much of the marketing stating it can charge in less than 10 hours. You need 16A to do that. The provided charger takes 11.5 hrs. I intend to install a 240 outlet in my garage, with some form of 32A charger and upgrading to Level 2, but this purchase was worthwhile because it’s the perfect fit for keeping in the car for trips or emergencies. I’m just gonna leave the Hyundai charger at my girlfriend’s house or something. This will do the job while I shop for Level 2 chargers and electricians. Plugged it in and it immediately showed 1.6 kW in the car, and finally I got to see the an estimated charge time that made sense. If using for Level 1, check your breaker and make sure you have a 20A breaker for your garage or wherever you’re Plugging in. UPDATE: Still working great. I’ve actually discovered that I can charge Level 1 at my parking garage at work. This has unlocked a LOT of EV range for my Tucson, and I’m using this Vevor charger to serve that purpose now. The parking garage is VERY dirty, and I sometimes have to put this cable through some stress to reach certain wall plugs. But it’s so cheap, that this thing is the perfect candidate to be sort of a “beater” charger. My shifts are 10 hours at work, so this 16A charger is able to get my car fully charged from zero range JUST in time. Using it like this has probably caused this charger to already pay for itself. I’ll say it again: this is perfect for storing in your car for emergencies. The only shortcoming is that the standard plug is NEMA 6-20 which isn’t super common if you want to charge Level 2 somewhere. For you EV drivers, I would suggest adding a 6-20 / 14-50 adapter in tow. This would let you double your charge rate if you found a 14-50 wall plug somewhere, giving you 3.6kW charge — nothing special, but it’ll get you out of a jam much faster than Level 1. Also you’d have 3 plug options with one EVSE right in your trunk. ... show more
