What type of water softener will this product work on? Will work on any water softener that uses salt. Do I have to mix with water? This product is Ready-To-Use. No mixing required. Just pour 8 oz. into brine well or salt bed if your softener doesn’t have a brine well. How often should product be used? Every 1 - 4 months dependent on water quality. I used this in an RV water softener (RV 10000). We recently drove our RV to Baja where the water hardness was extremely high (Water Works hardness test strips sold here, highly regarded) testing at over 25 grains. We have a well and a "real" water softener on our well. The test strips on the treated water on the house reads zero hardness. Due to the awful water in Mexico, the RV softener failed and 3 subsequent regenerations did nothing including even trying Iron Out. I bought replacement resin, but I've replaced the resin before and it's a royal pain, so it's still unused. So, I decided to test the Velocity product. The directions state to put 8 ounces in the brine tank and regenerate. It doesn't say to wait any length of time. Because the RV water softener is so much smaller than a domestic softener, I carefully dumped out 8 ounces of water from the intake port and added only 4 ounces of the cleaner to the central port on the tank. I carried it to an outside faucet that puts out softened house water and while carrying it, I sloshed the softener back and forth with the intake port pointing up. I regenerated it with no added salt for the required 20 minutes. After that, I tested the hardness of the water output at zero. Next, I disconnected the hose to the faucet and carrier it to the well connection. After sending untreated well water through the softener for several gallons (estimated), I retested the water hardness and it read zero. As a control, I disconnected the water softener from the hose and tested the untreated water from the well through the hose and it read 7 grains, as usual. From all of this, it appears that I might have resurrected the resin and might not need to replace it. Did the resin recover 100%? I don't know. But for the time being, the Velocity Water Softener Cleanser appears to have resurrected my water softener. ... show more

I believe it works? It’s not an immediate effect but appears to clean at least a little. I wish it had measurements on the side of the bottle as you have to use a non food measuring cup.

This I can use up to four times and this works great to restore softness in my water along with cleaning my water softener. This i my second bottle and my system has had no issues.
