It made a difference after the first application (of about 1/4 bottle) in my old Kenmore water softener. Previously used the "OUT Filter Mate Water Softener Cleaner & Salt Booster" granules dissolved on a quart of warm water, but without s significant improvement... maybe the water softener needed more applications over a short period of time, due to the fact that I replaced the resin beats several years ago? Hard to know that. I will keep monitoring the feel and softness of the water for the following weeks and will do another treatment in about 2-3 months.

I believe it works? It’s not an immediate effect but appears to clean at least a little. I wish it had measurements on the side of the bottle as you have to use a non food measuring cup.

Great size water softener cleaner for several applications

I used this in an RV water softener (RV 10000). We recently drove our RV to Baja where the water hardness was extremely high (Water Works hardness test strips sold here, highly regarded) testing at over 25 grains. We have a well and a "real" water softener on our well. The test strips on the treated water on the house reads zero hardness. Due to the awful water in Mexico, the RV softener failed and 3 subsequent regenerations did nothing including even trying Iron Out. I bought replacement resin, but I've replaced the resin before and it's a royal pain, so it's still unused. So, I decided to test the Velocity product. The directions state to put 8 ounces in the brine tank and regenerate. It doesn't say to wait any length of time. Because the RV water softener is so much smaller than a domestic softener, I carefully dumped out 8 ounces of water from the intake port and added only 4 ounces of the cleaner to the central port on the tank. I carried it to an outside faucet that puts out softened house water and while carrying it, I sloshed the softener back and forth with the intake port pointing up. I regenerated it with no added salt for the required 20 minutes. After that, I tested the hardness of the water output at zero. Next, I disconnected the hose to the faucet and carrier it to the well connection. After sending untreated well water through the softener for several gallons (estimated), I retested the water hardness and it read zero. As a control, I disconnected the water softener from the hose and tested the untreated water from the well through the hose and it read 7 grains, as usual. From all of this, it appears that I might have resurrected the resin and might not need to replace it. Did the resin recover 100%? I don't know. But for the time being, the Velocity Water Softener Cleanser appears to have resurrected my water softener.

I've tried Iron Off and other products and they've done something to help, but I don't feel I've experienced a good solid cleaning. With my first use of Velocity Cleaner, I immediately noticed a big difference. I will space them out, but will probably do 4 cleanings in 4 months to really get the resin cleaned. I have never cleaned the resin and didn't even know I should. Now I know and I'm trying to catch up without replacing the resin beads or tank altogether. I do have high confidence this product will save me from replacing the resin.
