We haven't yet fully used this so I can't speak to longevity or even the effectiveness of regeneration, but I can attest to its effectiveness at softening water. First, though, the unit feels like solid quality, includes all the connections you might need, and is a good size for portable use. To see how well it worked, we immediately hooked it up to a source of well water that we knew to be very hard. We connected one hose to the softener and another from it, then fully opened the spigot and let it run for 6-7 minutes to flush out anything from the manufacturing process. That was the entire "prep." Then we took two water samples—one from the softener and one straight from the spigot. The unprocessed water from the spigot showed a hardness of between 500 and 1000 parts per million (between 29 and 58 grains per gallon). The softened water showed about 50 ppm (less than 3 gpg)! For a small, portable unit at this price (about $125), that is IMPRESSIVE. Again, this was very hard water—it pegged the scale on the test strips. But even at 1000ppm (divide by 17.118 to get the gpg), you can expect to treat about 275 gallons of water between regenerations. That means you can probably go an entire vacation in your RV without having to run saltwater through it. If this thing lasts even a couple summers, it will be well worth the cost to have soft water showers while camping! (In the photos, the "before" test strip is on the bottom, "after" is on top. The center color shows hardness. All other chemicals in the water remained unchanged.)

This is great! No more losing hair. No more dry, flaky skin. It was a fairly easy setup to our shower. I just needed to get an adapter from Lowes for the outflow side. You may notice that the handle strap has another connection. I forgot to put the handle strap ring on the outflow connector, so I cheated to avoid taking it off. It had a small leak under the top. Customer service was so nice. The sent me a new head in a flash. Very responsive to make sure I was taken care of.

Had this for a couple years now. Still works very well and most importantly, it’s easy to get salt into. I had previously bought the supposedly number one best seller, I won’t name the brand with the blue colored tank, and while it still works well(I use two so that I can alternate them back-and-forth to drastically shorten my water downtime), it is extremely hard to get salt into. In my opinion, this NP global works just as well, is less money, and less hassle.

This unit works pretty well. We have a dishwasher and it used to leave lots of spots but not anymore! Plus no more hard water stains on the shower head or door. The water source makes a big difference on how often you need to regenerate it, when we were in South Dakota the water was very hard and I had to regenerate it about once a week. In Colorado the water was nowhere near as hard and I’ve been using it a month without having to regenerate. I bought some hard water test strips to monitor the hardness so I know when it needs regeneration and I highly recommend doing that. I test once a week. I didn’t have any leaks like some others have reported, I made sure to use Teflon tape on all the connections. I wish it had another pair of quick connect fittings but otherwise it’s been great so far.

FANTASTIC water softner! I live in very hard water area and this softner was perfect right out of the box. The additional supplies are a bonus. It installed in minutes and was very easy. If I can do it ANYONE will be able to install. Within 24 hours (it worked right away but got better) the water tested as perfectly soft (bought test kit separately) and made a huge improvement. Taste, smell, and water softness. Shampoo lathered, dry skin from hard water gone, water spots on dishes and sink & shower all gone. I am very impressed and happy with results. Even BETTER is the customer service! I ran into an issue and contacted NP GLOBAL and the response was fast! They IMMEDIATELY helped me resolve the problem, kept in constant contact, and even went above & beyond and offered replacement or refund. 100% STELLAR CUSTOMER SERVICE! ABSOLUTELY recommend this water softner and NP GLOBAL!

The water softener worked great but the cap developed a fine crack in it and seeped water. I contacted the company, note I have owned this softener for 2 years. I got very quick email response wanting a picture of the broken part and my address. They sent me out a new cap and within 10 days I had a new cap at no cost that fit perfectly. What was even more astonishing is I kept getting email telling me the status of my request and then asking if I received the part and if it corrected the problem. This is excellent customer service.
