I've had good experiences with Unitek products in the past, so I didn't hesitate to grab this charger for my EV. It's a solid piece of kit, and having a reliable charger is crucial when you're topping up your car's battery. This Level 1 and 2 charger is a lifesaver as a backup. It's perfect for those times when you're visiting friends or family and need a quick charge boost. Just plug it in and you're good to go. One thing to keep in mind is the weather. The manual clearly states it's only IP54 rated, meaning it can handle dust and splashes, but not heavy rain. Basically, don't leave it out in a downpour. IP ratings tell you how well something is protected against solids and liquids, and the higher the numbers, the better the protection. Using the charger is a breeze, and it works exactly as advertised. Obviously, it's not going to charge as fast as a dedicated Tesla charger or Supercharger when plugged into a regular 15-amp outlet. But it's a fantastic solution for those situations where you're running low on range and need to get to a charging station or back home. It gives you that extra peace of mind knowing you won't get stranded. Overall, I'm really happy with this Unitek charger and think it offers great value. It's a smart investment for any EV owner. Highly recommended!

My unit developed a defect after only one week of service. The problem was the Tesla wand connection --the button that signals the Tesla door to open became stuck in the "on" position, leading to a connection error. The power cord on this charger is considerably shorter than others, meaning you might have to buy an expensive 240v extension cord to make up the length. other than that it worked fine, and is smaller and lighter than others and accepts both 110 and 240v plugs.

This is another of the units I acquired for the head-to-head comparison, so far, I can only review on some of the points. It'll take some time and collaboration to get anything like useful data sets to compare function directly, etc. Cost for these average along these same lines of 150-200$, those with level 2 capacity anyhow. The 220/240 is clearly a 'Captain Obvious' point, more input equals more/better output - which (can) reduce(s) charge time. As long as the outlets always match this plug then this is one that could be taken along as backup power for those J.I.C. times. [just in case] Having a dozen of these to handle as provided some idea as to weight also, which rides along the price point track as well as power output. Bigger, pricier seems to be increased capacity as well. If one can afford a Tesla, then I'm pretty sure they could afford a better charger for it too.

This is a nice quality product from Unitek. I have purchased other products from them before. It is definitely a brand I trust, which is important when you're using the product to charge your Car. This level 1 and 2 charger is great for a back up charger. Perfect if you're staying at someone's house and are low on miles. A very important point, according to the manual, you are not supposed to use this charger in the rain as it only has an IP54 rating. An IP54 rating means that a product is protected against dust and water splashes, but it shouldn't be exposed to constant water. IP stands for "Ingress Protection", and the rating is made up of two numbers that indicate the level of protection against solids and liquids. The higher the number, the better the protection. This charger is easy to use and functions exactly as it should. The speeds from a standard 15 amp home wall outlet are not even close to an installed Tesla charger or supercharger but, it's a really good item to have if you're in a bind, like getting to someone's house and not having enough miles left to make it to a local charger. Or staying the night and hopefully putting enough miles back on your car to get back home. I would definitely recommend this charger from Unitek. I think there's a lot of value for your money here. It will give you good piece of mind knowing you're not going to get stranded! I highly recommend it.
