This is a nice quality product from Unitek. I have purchased other products from them before. It is definitely a brand I trust, which is important when you're using the product to charge your Car. This level 1 and 2 charger is great for a back up charger. Perfect if you're staying at someone's house and are low on miles. A very important point, according to the manual, you are not supposed to use this charger in the rain as it only has an IP54 rating. An IP54 rating means that a product is protected against dust and water splashes, but it shouldn't be exposed to constant water. IP stands for "Ingress Protection", and the rating is made up of two numbers that indicate the level of protection against solids and liquids. The higher the number, the better the protection. This charger is easy to use and functions exactly as it should. The speeds from a standard 15 amp home wall outlet are not even close to an installed Tesla charger or supercharger but, it's a really good item to have if you're in a bind, like getting to someone's house and not having enough miles left to make it to a local charger. Or staying the night and hopefully putting enough miles back on your car to get back home. I would definitely recommend this charger from Unitek. I think there's a lot of value for your money here. I am thoroughly surprised by the quality of this. I have the OEM mobile adapter and I can say that this one has a substantially thicker cable. I thought that one was good but this one really feels like a supercharger cable. Not sure if that does qualify it as more durable, but the perception of it is that it is. It is a little shorter than OEM I believe, not a big deal in my case but something to note. Also, there is a little hook to hang the box that houses the electronics, in case you are concerned that it is a little heavy for the outlet. Admittedly, I think the experience of using the screen is horrible, the controls are really clunky. But good thing you don't really need to interact with it. Seems to charge at the same speed as OEM.     • Good Charger by a Good Brand - Also Does J1772 Standard with Adapter

I got this for my daughter who has a Model 3 Tesla because I don't have Teslas any more, but she already had something like this and I'll be keeping this one for myself. That's OK because I have plenty of Tesla-to-J1772 adapters in every vehicle, and that's how I tested this. I think this is a good test because in a portable charging situation you never know your output format - it can be either type and it's nice to be able to use an EV Charger on either - sometimes just to help out a stuck friend with a Tesla. So on J1772 using my own 80A max adapter, this charger was GREAT - I got right up the the rated max of 16 Amps out of it on Level 2 charging an Ioniq 5 overnight. No problem to top off the battery from below half using this portable charger. It's got enough power to use as a regular home charger for any small EV, even a Tesla M3, but especially an Ioniq and smaller, especially a lot of Plug-In Hybrid EVs that just don't have huge batteries. Ran perfectly and never dropped below the 16A rate once it reached it in the first few minutes. A good little charger to be sure! ... show more

I've got a high end charger as part of my home charging station but it's a good idea to keep a portable in your trunk just in case. This one will do the job nicely. It's clearly not the cutting edge of EV charging technology but it covers all the bases and even has a carrying case. It has adjustable charging options (8A/10A/12A/16A) and the ability to schedule charging start times (0 to 12 hours). The display screen isn't going to wow anyone but it's functional. There's also a bigger 'status light' under the aforementioned display screen. It also has all of the built in protections that you find in any EV charger from a legitimate manufacturer. That includes overheating protection, over voltage protection, under voltage protection, short circuit protection, etc. It has a IP54 waterproof rating while in use and a IP66 rating when idle. My best advice--avoid charging your car in a rainstorm. Unless you're driving somewhere seriously remote, you can usually find sufficient charging options so that you might never need to use a portable charger. There's no reason not to be prepared and this charger can give you some peace of mind. Recommended. ... show more
