We have a MIL suite in our home which provides us with a second kitchen. When my MIL passed away we started using the space for ourselves. We now call the kitchen in the MIL suite the mini kitchen. I say all of this to say in our main kitchen we have an GE Advantium microwave/convection cooker. My husband uses the convection part of the unit pretty much every time he wants to cook himself something, however, he cannot seem to remember to take out the splatter guard that sits on the glass inside for when we microwave something. Every month or so he comes to me letting me know he "cooked" the microwave splatter guard yet again and we need a new one. On those occasions I steal the one from the mini kitchens microwave and buy another one for that area. It has truly been a PITA so I was left with two choices.....get rid of my husband.....or keep searching for a solution to my conundrum....although my knee jerk reaction was to go with option A....I guess I'm stuck with him for now and continue my journey. Finally I found this cover! I LOVE that it collapses down flat for easy storage after use rather than this big plastic bulky thing you have to either store in the microwave for further melting or have it sitting out taking up space. Since our mini kitchen is much smaller than our main kitchen it has been a nice space saving option and in our main kitchen I was able to train my husband to store the unit after he finishes microwaving so it is not sitting inside waiting to be melted by him when he preheats the convection oven. My husband did struggle with the unit initially telling me it was "too short" when he used it in the microwave and he did not like it because it touched his food. When I checked it out it appeared the main kitchen's new microwave splatter guard was a bit tight in terms of popping it up when taking it out of storage. After popping it up fully several times it became easier to accomplish and was no longer touching his food and he has been fine with it. Glad I found this during my journey! Who thinks of these gadgets anyway?

This product is amazing . I always have had a cheap plastic one which always served my purpose of not allowing food splatter . Well I got this one not thinking it was any different . Well man I was wrong, this cover makes anything you microwave 50 times better . Give it a try . You will see

I purchased the cover to avoid microwave spills, and it works nicely. The diameter of the cover is enough to cover my wider plates and is tall enough to go over the food on smaller dishes. The fact of being collapsible is good for storage, but I keep it in the microwave at all times and just pull it out if I don't need it for a specific load, and put it right back afterwards. Cleaning is easy, goes straight into the dishwasher top rack for me.

Its kinda difficult to fully close sometimes because there are 3 layers of folds and sometimes some sections of the layers wont fold completely so you have to fiddle with it to get it fully shrunk down to its compacted size but it works and is pretty neat.
