Really impressed so far, using it in a MacBook Air 2025 M4 model and this thing is getting the full 1000mb speeds. Testing shows it to be around 1074 MB on the high end, copied around 400gb in a matter of minutes, and the device heats up less than I thought it would. It's extremely light compard to other devices I've tried but being aluminum material for better heat dissapation it's to be expected. With Device Manager set to "Better Performance", In Crystal DiskMark things look great--the Q8 sequential around 960 MB/s and even Q1 read at 750 MB/s and write at 920 MB/s. Since a primary use case of external drives is backout, these sequential numbers matter more than usual. However, when doing a large copy, the drive quickly hits 93C (temp and write speed coming from HWINFO)--well above its rated operating temp of 70C and hot enough to cause corruption. There is really no attempt at any kind of heat radiator, so I expected throttling would be necessary. However, the drive continues to write at 400 MB/s until it hits 93C, then it suddenly drops to 1 MB/s for 20 seconds or so. Then it will shoot back up to 350 MB/s for 3 or 4 seconds before crashing back down to 1 MB/s, and repeat that until you put an end to it, never getting below 90C. Hopefully mu unit is just defective--throttling should start before it hits 70C and gradually, not after temps have exceeded all specs and suddenly, but still reving up enough to keep temps over 90C. If this is the normal behavior, hopefully it can be addressed with a firmware update. Otherwise I will be returning it; it's going to corrupt data with that heat if it doesn't fail. When you connect it, it appears 1 TB but only stores 32 GB in addition to the fact that it takes a long time to read the files late for a long time to fill only 28 GB of an old phone to memory and said that there were only 3 GB free after wanting to spend 40 GB of old photos so far only had 28 GB
