  • Good
Color: Black
Water gets in the clear plastic which doesn’t bother me too much. Putting the two pieces together was a difficult task, other than that it does the trick.

  • Perfect!
Color: Brown
It took a little work but it is very sturdy. The only one the wind blew it down and it broke.

  • A little difficult to assemble
Color: Gray
This is the second unit I buy because the first one lost its plastic canopy and I could not find replacement canopy sheets so I orderd another complete unit. the palstic sheets are not sturdy and flew over in the wind. I hope this one will last longer.

Installed over my ac and it’s working great

  • Exactly what I needed.
Color: Brown
The windows on either end of the house have no eave protection, which means every time we have a night time rainstorm I have to haul myself out of bed, take out the window fan and shut the window or everything inside gets soaked. Not comfortable during a warm night, and we prefer fresh air to air conditioning. I installed this awning yesterday, and right on queue we had a downpour at 3AM during an unusually warm October night. I stayed in bed, went back to sleep, nary a drop of water found its way in. Perfect. Tonight we expect torrential rain and 50-60 mph winds; if it passes that test I'll be back to rate this five stars. A couple of installation hints: It's a little awkward to assemble by oneself, but a great help was to spray WD-40 along the panel edges, which then slid easily into the center bracket. I know they recommend installing on masonry, but using 3" lag screws (you can't use a screwdriver, absolutely a socket wrench) after reinforcing the window frame trim seems to make it pretty solid. I had to use a ladder, so I anchored the awning first with one screw in the upper left bracket, letting it hang sideways. Moving the ladder to the other side, I was still able to grab the right bracket and attach it, then moving the ladder again to finish the 1st side. A little awkward for one person installation, but very do-able. Addendum: I came back to rate this 5 stars - while last night's rainstorm wasn't as windy as predicted, there was a lot of rain with some noisy gusts and the awning held firm. Other than some wind blown water on either side of the windowsill, for the most part it remained dry. Very satisfied with no reason to rate less than 5. Addendum #2: Two nights ago we had tropical storm wind gusts topping 60 MPH - that was enough to pop out one of the panels. Not a surprise, this product is not advertised to withstand that kind of weather. I took it down, put it back together and this time I ran a bead of silicone sealant along each side which should be enough reinforcement. I'll stick with the 5 star rating. ... show more

  • Cheap, Poor quality hardware
Color: Brown
It is an extremely Flimsy made out of plastic corrugated board and plastic brackets. Was relatively inexpensive so I will see how it lasts. You definitely need 2 people to put it together unless you plan on having high blood pressure when you're finished. I'm a very handy person and fix and install everything in my home and I found this item to be extra frustrating the normal person would give up put it back in the Box and send it on its way back where it came from. The package includes the pieces and a parts list but no directions or tips on how to assemble efficiently. The screws that came with the product were a very poor quality and you would have never been able to remove them if you were ever able to install them to begin with. Made of very cheap steel that flaked off as you pushed on the screwdriver to insert them and the threads were not defined so the screw stripped easily. I had to stop and go to the store and buy new screws. We shall see how it will handle in a strong wind. Check the top of the screws before beginning your project and take the time to go to the hardware store and get quality. This item was certainly not worth $50 especially since it was constructed completely out of plastic and the hardware sent was useless. I am not sure of the bolts that were sent to install on the house but I went and purchased Simple lag bolts. With a little bit of Attention this product could have been much better than it was. Quality hardware and a clear cut instructions to put together would have been great. ... show more

  • Looks nice, reasonable price and functional!
Color: Black
Hard to install by myself. The compression bolts that came with it did NOT work at all. I had to go to the hardware store and buy other. I have only had it up two weeks. No rain yet to see if it leaks. I am very pleased at the way it looks and it does not yet budge or wiggle in the winds. All in all a good value thus far for the money. I will post back if it does not hold up in the rain. I put it over a back garage door directly into the stucco. UPDATE. 05/02/18=It works!!! No leaks, sturdy and beautiful. So far withstanding rain and wind with ease. I so recommend this product. Awkward to put up but well worth the effort. I just might buy more for the slider door in the back. UPDATE 07/01/18-YES,it was a pain to put up and the bolts did not work for my stucco home but this is one of my best purchases. This little awning has withstood rain, wind and heat. Although it does not promote shade, since it is clear, it actually provides shade. You see since it is so high up it collects a fine layer of dust, just enough to provide shade. I am so glad I purchased this product. It looks so nice too. Feb of 2021 winds, horrible 80mph plus. Tore my beloved awning off the wall and splitered the bracket into shreds and pieces. I think I will have to go with a retractable shade next time.. Great product if you do not have horrific winds. Lasted 3 years plus some months. ... show more

  • Better than you'd expect
Color: Brown
I have 3 of these. They are a nice complement to exterior doorways on my standard stucco-clad California bungalow. The brackets are sturdy enough to hold the rather flimsy cover in place. They've been up through a few windstorms with no damage or failure, Watch out for the minimum required height above a doorway--I had to squeeze one of these awnings between the top of doorway and the underside of the eave. You really do need 11 inches clearance. I think these work best in a wood-framed house. The width is set so that with any luck you should be able to install 2 lag bolts directly into the framing on either side of a 36 in. door, which is way better than an expansion bolt. The top bolts will want to pull out if they aren't firmly secured to the house. Really does take 2 to install. Assemble; then hold in place to mark where to drill. ... show more
