It seems well made and has worked well for the first week. However, installation took me about two weeks. The instructions lay out 10 steps in 6 languages. The type is so small I needed a magnifying glass and the drawings so small the meaning was often unclear. The biggest problem for me is that it is designed to mount on a vertical masonry wall, while we needed to mount on the horizontal soffit. I eventually did this by mounting the awning on a 2x6" board using 3/8" carriage bolts inserted from the soffit side. I started with bolts 2 1/2" long to be sure to have enough thread, but then discovered that one of the four positions required a shorter bolt because of interference by the turning mechanism. I used 3 1/2" deck strews to fasten the board (with inserted bolts) to the joists. Then the hard part. Using the order of assembly in the instructions, I found it impractical to attach the assembled awning at both ends simultaneously (even with the help of my wife). What worked for me was to remove the two articulating arms, and then one end bracket can be attached on its own, then insert the roller, and attach the other bracket. One is then faced with the challenge of attaching the two articulating arms, which I was able to do with some maneuvering. One of the more difficult aspects of the design is described in the instructions as "Please move part K to a suitable position". No explanation of what makes a position suitable. I think getting the position right gets the arms folded up neatly, but the design makes it difficult/impossible to change the position with everything assembled. In my case, the arms are not quite symmetrical, but I'm afraid to try making any adjustments. As is the awning seems to function fine. I improved the design by leaving the fringe off.

I got this for my backyard since it gets pretty hot in the afternoon. This awning provides a large area of shade. It was pretty easy to operate. Just turn the rotator and the two arms will extend the awning outward. The assembly took me about an hour. I got the larger one and the roller we’re in two piece I have to connect together. The cloth and rollers were pretty easy to put together. The bolts were design for concrete wall where you tighten to wedge it in. I was mounting it on my pergola so I use my own nut and bolt to secure it on the wood. The arms are tricky so you’ll want two people to install if possible. Don’t cut the zip tie until you’re ready to work on it since it’s spring loaded and will try to expand. Overall the awning is pretty sturdy in place and works pretty well. It’s definitely worth the install. Just found a strong place to secure it on. Hope this helps.

That is just what I was looking for. It keeps bugs from falling on my head from the trees. It rained and kept the water off of me. It really improved the look and comfort of the deck. Definitely a great price and glad we saved money installing it ourselves.

Visited the website to replace the arms that were damaged during a storm. Even fully retracted the arms and braces were bent beyond repair. The welds for adjusting the height were pretty crappy and broke within the first month, and the thing was never fully extended. It was easy to put together, but setting it to the side of the vinyl siding home we have required additional parts and planks, but that's no biggie because I enjoy hobby work... I am going to purchase it again and keep the old ones for spare parts, but that's just because it is cheaper than putting up a permanent deck cover (which I will do eventually). It is not bad for the shade it provides, but I would definitely recommend waiting to put up something more sturdy. In the end, you get what you pay for.

Would be nice to include hardware to install on a wood frame building. Also, just drilling and threading both end caps would permit the user to put the cranking system on either end. Directions for assembly are terrible, I had to build and disassemble this many times because I thought I had it right then the next part doesn't fit etc. Found YouTube videos that are filmed from miles away and don't show enough details. Aside from assembly and installation, it's very nice and works great. I like that the angle can be easily adjusted.

The media could not be loaded. This retractable awning is amazing. It is super sturdy and durable and made of very high quality aluminum. It is a great size the dimensions are 8.2' × 6.5'. plenty large enough for our front patio. It is weather proof which is Great. The installation was super easy and instructions simple to read and follow. My husband assembled by himself and we put it up together. Awesome price and value for such a high quality awning compared to other top brands. Very pleased and highly recommend
