I wasn't sure I needed this lock strip. But then my new j channel liner slipped out as I was filling the pool. So, yeah, you need this. It did the trick. Very easy to install. You dont need a special tool. I just used my thumb to push it in place. The price is also good. My local pool supply store charges 1 dollar a foot for the exact same thing. Roll was supposed to be 120 feet long. I needed 108 feet and ended up 8 feet short so my roll was 100 feet. Not happy!
