While the product description mentions that the unit can ACCEPT 240v input, what it DOES NOT mention is that it does not step down the voltage or use only 1 hot to achieve 120v. Tested this on a public paid ChargePoint charger and read 240+ volts. NEMA 5-15 in the United States is intended specifically for 15amp 120v applications. I do not understand how this can be ETL certified, right on the plug is says ETL certified 15amp 125v. Yet the product page says plug into 240v??? I don't know of any public J-1772 charges which output 125v or less. This is being recommended by the manufacturer for use in a manner which deviates from anything the Intertek (ETL) testing laboratory would certify it for (if it was actually performed, and the manufacturer isn't just printing it on there). For your safety, and the safety of your devices, avoid this plug. ... show more

Got this to charge a 2200wh battery on the go, battery didn’t recognize it and level went to 188%. Pulled it out before any damage was done. Might purchase a step down transformer but that limits use time to 30 min.

I recently purchased a battery based generator backup system that I really love. While I generally get to power it back up with my solar cells, there are times when we are on the road on cloudy or rainy days where the solar panels are not generating enough to charge it back up to full. This product fills that gap perfectly by allowing me to augment my solar production and top up with this connection. There are a lot more free EV charging locations around now, so hooking this up means that I can find no cost power charging when I need it.     • Caution. Be sure your device tolerates 220v.
I believe devices such as this output 220 volts, even though a 120 volt socket is provided. Many modern devices with switching power supplies can tolerate 220 volts, but if not, you can fry your device instantly. (If I'm wrong about this, I hope someone will correct me)

    • Robust and well constructed
This is a really well made adapter that has some weight to it and really appears to be constructed with quality materials. The fit and finish is excellent, no gaps, loose pieces or unaligned components. The door over the standard outlet side leave more than enough room for even large adapters. I plan to use this on my Zero Electric Motorcycle, for charging at public chargers and it will be nice to have the flexibility, even if still charging at a slow rate. This is a super portable solution that will be great to have in an emergency situation. I believe it represents a good value overall and would recommend it. ... show more
