I just ordered another of these. The first one lasted 8 years and was still totally strong and un-faded (dark green, used only in the summer in Colorado). Great umbrella! Especially for the price. But we must have had some big wind last night because I found the umbrella still attached to it's 40# weight (!) on the ground beside my 2nd floor deck this morning. The walls of the deck were perfectly fine. I can't imagine how that happened. But I'm buying the exact same umbrella again. This umbrella met my expectations for its reasonable price. It arrived in a plastic sleeve which kept it in perfect condition. The fabric is slightly thinner than I expected but it is well made. The extra ribs provide more stability for the fabric. The vent and cap also provides more stability in the wind. I used a 30 pound weighted stand but it was inadequate because the umbrella blew over the first time the wind blew a little. I added concrete blocks to make it about 50 pounds which has worked so far. You assemble it by putting the two pole sections together. This is easy and it clicks together with a metal button. The umbrella is a little unwieldy to tilt. It has an attractive appearance. I chose the beige fabric which looks off white in person. I would have chosen the tan color if I had seen how light it looks in person. I have used it about 10 days and noticed it shows the dirt more with the light color. It has not rained yet so I have not observed if it repels water. The hand crank to open and close it works fine. There is a simple tie to keep it closed, which works like tying a shoe lace. ... show more

I have purchased three of these. The first is over a year old and I recently purchased 2 more. SETUP: They can be assembled in seconds. Just insert one pipe into the other until the locking pin clicks. USE: They are very easy to raise, lower, tilt, and tie up. There is a crank that opens and closes the umbrella. It is connected to a small rope that runs up through the pole to a pully that then pulls the umbrella mechanism up or down. I'm sure there is a limited lifespan on that cord, but after a year, mine looks fine. You can tilt the umbrella when it is open by push a button. It has 3 angles that it can lock in at. Some other umbrellas can hit any angle you want, but I never need that precise of an angle. The umbrella has ties so that when closed, you can tie it shut to avoid wind blowing up into it. Finally, the umbrellas has the double umbrellas on top to allow wind to blow out when you get a stronger gust. It works pretty well. My 35lb base works for most wind. I haven't tried it in strong winds, but you would need at least 50lb base to even attempt. QUALITY: It's not built like a $300+ umbrella, but it looks nice, holds it's color after a year in the sun, and seems like it will last for 3-5 years which is pretty standard for even expensive umbrellas. at 1/6 the price, these are a much better option. ... show more

Great quality for a great price. Very well made. This is our second one, but it's our fault as we left it in the garage and cats got in and you can imagine the rest..... Will keep this one wrapped up!!! It's really easy to get on and off for washing.

Worked for 4.5yrs... faded quick though and then now its finally ripped off the base. The canvas is very thin and looks like the UV just got to it :(
