The reason for a 4 star rating was not for the unit itself, but the packaging it came in. Possible due to the weight of the unit, the box came crushed although the stand was not damaged. What had happened is the styrofoam was crushed so badly that it was adhered to the metal. With small brushes and 15 - 20 minutes later, we were finally able to clean it off. Perhaps a plastic wrap prior encasing it in more styroform, would be a better plan. ... show more

Very pleased w/this stand as it's sturdy & versatile at a good price. I've been looking for another stand that's not plastic that you have to fill w/sand & this one's perfect. Easy to assemble w/just a couple steps.

    • Not durable or well made at all.
We only used a 9ft lightweight patio umbrella, and the base was rusted and the stand gave out 2 months after I put it up. Convenient for the manufacturer, given that I have no avenue to return it. $$ down the toilet.
