  • Effective Roman Chair
Color: Sliver
If everyday i do about 10 minutes of back exercises on this no-frills and perfect chair my mid and low back pain stays under control and doesn't bother me. I'm 72 and X-rays, CT scan and MRI have demonstrated a healed compression fracture (docs can't tell if it's symptomatic) and stenosis and arthritis at most lumbar and thoracic levels. Multiple epidurals and three courses of P.T. at three different facilities weren't nearly as effective as daily use of this simple tool. ... show more

  • Easy to set up, move and use.
Color: Dark Grey
Amazon roman chair review This about the adjustable angle Sunny health & Fitness Hyperextension Roman Chair. I specify that because there was no way to differentiate the Amazon reviews when I was doing my research and most reviews were for the basic model. Fyi, I'm 5'11" or 181cm and 168lbs or 76kg. Overall I'm very satisfied with the purchase and I'm hopeful that it will play a big role in strengthening my back and overall core. Things are like: 1.I can easily do reverse hyper-extensions. This was a big thing for me and almost no reviews mentioned this. 2. The cushions on the foam rollers, the part that helps secure your legs, are more than adequate. I expected less cushioning so it was a nice surprise. 3. The foam rollers aren't fixed. You can tighten it into one position and maybe you're supposed to do that, but I've found that leaving this loose allows the foam rollers to easily move to a "just-right" position for whatever I'm using it for. 4. I can do side obliques, reverse hyper-extensions, sit-ups, dips and push ups. If your upper body is already very strong you won't get any value doing push-ups, but if you're recovering from an injury or starting out building upper body strength this works quite nicely. 5. I can secure elastic exercise bands to the handles, and use the entire unit as a counterweight for adduction and abduction exercises. I'm sure you can find other places to secure exercise bands to do a whole range of other exercises. 6. Painting the adjustable leg red is a nice touch as you always want to be clear where this brace is positioned before you use the chair. 7. The base of the red adjustable leg extends out in opposite directions to form a large "T-base" that gives an extra sense of security that this swivel-leg doesn't slip out from under you when you're exercising. No other similar product from competitors, that I have seen, have a swivel base that extends out to form a similar "T-base". 8. It was easy to set up. In fact, the only thing you have to do is secure the foam pads (where your hips rest) to the frame. And that's it; ready to use. Each pad requires four screws that come with the unit. 9. The entire unit is heavy enough to make you feel secure but light enough to be lifted very easily. 10.The little wheels at the base allows you to wheel the unit to wherever you like. Very helpful as you don't want to lift it up all the time and many times I just want to collapse it and wheel it to a nearby wall. What I don't like: 1. The hip pads are a bit hard. Some more padding would be appreciated. 2. There is no guidance about how high to adjust the frame so as to avoid hurting your back, or discomfort for men if they set the height too low. When too low the split between the pads caused me much discomfort. The split between the two pads is marketed as a benefit to men, but I've laid face down on many a bench and my boys have never felt uncomfortable. With this split between the pads, I now have to be careful about how my boys "fit" or don't fit into the gap. The current height adjustment I use means that my boys are mostly at the bottom of the pads where the pads begin and the gap is widest. Women of course will not have any issues. My point though is that one thickly cushioned pad would have been preferable to me. 3. The knob to secure the slideable central beam doesn't give a smooth "slide and click" experience. It took some playing around with it before I found my correct height, and also felt it securely click in place. This is not a problem as I'm the only one using the chair. I don't think this will be a real issue even if you have to change the height often as I'm sure you'll get the hang of pulling the knob and sliding it to the click sound. 4. One of the supplied screws was defective and I had to go to hardware and hunt for one that would work. Would be nice if they could have checked them beforehand or just supplied a couple extra in case of this problem. 5. It is just a bit shaky but every competitor's product that is based on only one central support instead of support on each side (below each of your arms) will wobble. That's unavoidable, and the wobble only occurs when you are getting on or off the machine as most people will invariably favour one side of their body first when they mount or dismount the chair. The good news is that it doesn't seem at all unsafe. There is nothing I have done that gave me the slightest concern that it would tip over in any direction. Concerns: Over the long term, I wonder how well the frame will stand up to corrosion. If I was over 250 lbs I'm not sure the unit would feel as secure. Overall, for the price, I think this is a really good buy and I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Absolutely worth it!
Color: Dark Grey
Absolutely perfect, good balance and stores easily. I use for myself and clients I coach from garage. Very easy assembly took maybe 40 minutes. Much better than the cheaper version I got rid of prior

  • Initial impressions: OK, but you get what you pay for
Color: Sliver
These are my first impressions of recently purchased Sunny 45-degree hyperextension Roman Chair: Just assembled the unit and used briefly for one day, so I cannot attest to longer term function and durability: Pros: -Shipping was fast. All parts were included. -Assembly was straight forward. The manual included in the box had no assembly instructions. A full manual with assembly instructions is downloadable by scanning the QR code on the abbreviated manual included with the product. There is also a link available on YouTube that illustrates the assembly process, -Included “wrenches” to assemble the product can be used however having a basic set of metric open end wrenches and or socket set makes it easier. -The Hyper extension felt secure enough. I did not feel like I would tip over the front, even while performing hyperextension while holding a 25lb plate (I am 5’11, 185 lbs.) Cons: -The hardware and welds are not of great quality- but I did not have high expectations given the price. Time will tell if they hold up after some use. -The handlebars used for support or to assist the hyperextension movement are also marketed as pushup bars. However if you are even fairly fit they are at an angle that provides little resistance (unless you were to elevate your feet on something when performing the pushup) so are pretty useless for this purpose unless perhaps performing a burnout superset after pre-fatiguing the muscles. They may be beneficial for someone with little arm and or chest strength. A Sunny video demonstrating the use of the hyperextension honestly address this limitation but I did not see this mentioned on Amazon. -The Cushion (part no. 1 in the instructions) that you rest your anterior hips/pelvis against does not have a center cutout or slot to accommodate male anatomy. For males this may require some “manual adjustment” or an extra pillow or cushion to soften the pressure. This should not present a problem for females. -The lock pin (part H) that holds the back stand tube and front stand tube together, which when removed allows the device to be folded for storage, is not secure- it slides out easily (see my video). Anyone who has used a gym or has an adjustable weight bench is familiar with this would be familiar with this pin which consists of a metal dowel with a small spring-loaded type of round prominent point that prevents the pin from falling out without exerting some pressure when pulling on the pin. On the Sunny, the hole that receives the pin is too large and the pin can fall/wiggle out on it’s own. THIS COULD REPRESENT A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE CAUSING THE BENCH TO COLAPSE. To address this I wrapped tape on the end of the pin to prevent it from falling out. This means that to fold the device to store it I would need to take the tape off and retape it for safety when using it again. Also, once the unit was folded for storage and then unfolded so that the lock pin could be put in place to secure the device the holes did not line up and it was necessary to use wrenches to loosen the bolt that hold sthe front and back stand together so that the holes for the lock pin could be aligned. This could be made easier if this bolt was not completely tight but by doing so it may not make the device secure. If one of the main compelling reasons for purchasing this was the convenience of regularly folding it for storage- you may want to reconsider. Of course this may not be reflective of all devices manufactured. Again, the quality of the hardware I received speaks to less than precise tolerances. For me, given the price and depending on how this holds up over time. I think it will work with the above cautions and modifications. If the above Cons were not present it would represent a good value, however with them, you are kind of getting what you are paying for. ... show more

  • Great value for money
Color: Sliver
First day bought it for my home gym. Easy to assemble the manual is online by scanning QR code. Sturdy and adjustable height perfect I’m 5’0 and my kid is 5’9. Easy to use and do different work outs. Not too big and doesn’t take up much space. Easy to relocate and folds.

  • Poor quality will leave you frustrated. Save your time and effort for something better.
Color: Sliver
I really, really wanted to like this Roman chair. I waited a week for delivery, slightly longer than usual, but fine, because the reviews on here were stellar. I was hopeful. The evening it arrived, I rushed to the door, eager to assemble it and finally start working on my back. I've been dealing with chronic back pain for years, and my physical therapist specifically recommended a Roman chair as part of my recovery. I thought I'd found a great deal on Amazon. I was wrong. You get what you pay for. My biggest frustration? Poorly machined screws. If you're not familiar with the term, let me explain: the threads on every single screw hole were so badly manufactured that after just one turn, the screws would no longer catch. You're left with two options, use a power drill with an attachment, or rely on the laughably flimsy wrenches included in the box. These wrenches are paper-thin, dig into your fingers, and constantly slip off the nuts. They are, in a word, useless. Fine. Assembly took longer than it should have, but I pushed through since the price was low. I finally finished putting it together, tightened everything down, and hopped on to try it out. The padding. Oh, the padding. I'm not exaggerating when I say I would have preferred broken glass. Just one set of hyperextensions left my midsection feeling like it had taken a direct hit. Brutal doesn't begin to cover it. Save yourself the trouble. Don't trust the reviews on this one. ... show more

  • Just what my Back Needed!
Color: Dark Grey
Once again Sunny delivers. It is well built and designed. Great adjustment features. Really good stability and easy to move around. This is ideal for a small room. It is not bulky. This was selected with that in mind. If you have the space spend the extra money for larger unit. I am 5 10 and it is a good size. If you’re taller I would consider one that is larger, better padding, larger foot pad and larger framing. So far the back extension portion of the unit works well. There are multiple advantages to the adjustments once can make. The dipping bar is great and handled my weight well. No unit shake. The unit does not move. The padding is ok not the greatest. The foot rest is generally okay but wish it was wider and one piece. I found it easy to put together. And they group the parts separately to help build each section. Good directions. ... show more
